AMA 10,000 POSTS ASK ME ANYTHING

What are your ten favorite 'Love Live' girls?

Well, you asked for a question, so I'll give you the same one I gave to Setsu. :p
What are your top 5 favorite Love Live songs? And what are your top 5 favorite LL songs from each group independently?

What are your top 5 favorite Love Live songs? And what are your top 5 favorite LL songs from each group independently?

If you weren't going to ask it, I was!

What's something you've always wanted to get into but never had the time/money/opportunity/etc.?
In one word, what do you think makes an anime "good"?
When you decide on a favourite character, what are the factors you usually consider? Are there any trends or common factors among your favourites that stick out to you?

I'll answer the second question first, as I can pick my answers to the first one from them. Also, for simplicity's sake, I'll be doing it by anime season, as answers for every single solo/sub-group would get quite long.

Truck driving. I like the idea of living my life constantly on the road, but the other parts of the job, particularly the loading and unloading of heavy cargo at delivery docks and terminals, would be physically impossible for me. At least I can do it virtually in games like American Truck Simulator (and put my fave anime characters on/in my truck lol.)
In one word, what do you think makes an anime "good"?
[PokeCommunity.com] 10,000 POSTS ASK ME ANYTHING

Relaxing. I'm too old for the super-violent action anime, I just want something with cute girls that I can chill out and enjoy :)
When you decide on a favourite character, what are the factors you usually consider? Are there any trends or common factors among your favourites that stick out to you?
Looks and personality for the most part. My favorites tend to be among the smarter (or at least better in classes) characters, and tend to be more low-key and less loud and hyperactive. It's part of keeping with that "relaxing" theme I look for in anime.

15? That's quite a lot, lol

Honorable "Not Actually Games" Mentions:
(aka "If you thought I couldn't mention Buick for this question, you were wrong lol")

Buick Selector on the "Buick Dimensions" floppy disk
[PokeCommunity.com] 10,000 POSTS ASK ME ANYTHING

(Yes, this was a thing. In the early '90's, you could request that Buick send you their free promotional "Buick Dimensions" floppy disk, which would have information on their cars, including options/color selectors, specs, and prices. Some years the disks also had "mini-games" on them, 1993's had a trivia quiz and 1994's had a "Buick Open" golf game on it.)

2000 LeSabre CD-ROM
(Not part of the "Dimensions" line, this was a one-year exclusive (I believe) free CD-ROM featuring only the Buick LeSabre since the car was completely redesigned for that year. This one benefitted from new technology and had full motion videos and more detailed graphics and sounds.)

DeLorme/AAA Map 'N Go:
Another relic of the early to mid '90's, this was a travel planning program that was more comprehensive than most of the era. This one's maps included many side streets as well as detailed information on attractions and AAA approved restaurants and hotels. This was the Google Maps (minus the street view) in that in-between digital age before the internet became a thing.

What is your favourite meal of all time?
I think I answered this already, and forgive me for my basic answer, but I like a good burger and fries :)

Emphasis on good, which of course means not the fast food chains. I have quite a list of great restaurants I've compiled over the years where I can get a great burger (or steak, or BBQ, or seafood haha)

Any upcoming seasonal anime you're looking forward to, or current series that you're hoping for more seasons for?
Well, one of them should be plainly obvious lol
[PokeCommunity.com] 10,000 POSTS ASK ME ANYTHING

Besides the third season of LIELLA HYPE OH YEAH! I'll also be picking up:

  • Second season of iDOLM@STER Shiny Colors. First season wasn't as strong as U149, but hopefully the second season can bring some much needed character development.
  • Tsuma, Shougakusei ni Naru.. This looks to be my "chill but emotional slow burn romance anime" of the season.
Possibly picking up Yarinaoshi Reijou wa Ryuutei Heika wo Kouryakuchuu if the 3-episode rule doesn't disappoint.

And maybe they'll finish up the last few episodes of Whisper Me A Love Song before the end of the year? Please?+

Honestly, the upcoming season doesn't have a variey of great shows (this current season also had slim pickings as far as good shows) but LIELLA RETURNS THAT ALONE MAKES IT ALL WORTH IT

Do you have any pets?
[PokeCommunity.com] 10,000 POSTS ASK ME ANYTHING

Nope, and that's due to life-long animal allergies. My cat allergies have gotten better to the point where I can hang out for an hour or two at a cat cafe without problems, but living full-time with one is another matter. My dog allergies remain very severe, however, and I cannot be around them without my sinuses going crazy - and that's best-case scenario.

If my allergies get better, I'd like to get a cat someday, but I still worry about having them knock my anime figurines off my shelf, lol

What's your favourite kind of music?
[PokeCommunity.com] 10,000 POSTS ASK ME ANYTHING

I listen to a lot of pop music from the 80's and early 90's, the stuff between, say, 1985 and 1991 seems to hit the sweet spot for me. I don't really listen to the super hardcore or loud rock, more of the easy listening stuff. Basically the music that my parents played on the radio when I was growing up. Have I become my parents? I dunno, but there's some great songs/bands/artists from that era. That's about 75% of my playlist.

The rest of it is primarily j-pop from anime, mostly opening/ending insert songs along with some Love Live songs, naturally.

Then there's the music used in 1980's car ads, which is its own kind of awesome.

(sorry for my absence over the past few days, I've been traveling and then in post-travel recovery mode)

But enough of that, let's create a Franken-Buick!

Engine/Powertrain/Chassis: 1994-1996 Buick Roadmaster
The final Roadmaster years rode on the most refined version of GM's classic rear-drive, full-size "B-platform." 1994 also saw the introduction of a more powerful 5.7 liter V-8, with horsepower going from 180 or 185 all the way up to 260 for the final three years. This mechanical/chassis setup could do everything - smooth, quiet ride, shockingly fast acceleration, and the muscle to tow a fairly heavy travel trailer or boat.

Basic Body Shape: 1980-1984 Buick Electra
[PokeCommunity.com] 10,000 POSTS ASK ME ANYTHING

There's nothing that can match the looks of the classic American boxy body style, and the shape of the early 80's Electra perfectly defines that. Aerodynamics? Who needs that?

Front End Headlight/Grille Design: 1992-1996 Buick Roadmaster
[PokeCommunity.com] 10,000 POSTS ASK ME ANYTHING

It's an attractive, clean, elegant design, especially with the chrome vertical grille.

Rear End Taillight Design: 1989-1996 Buick Century
[PokeCommunity.com] 10,000 POSTS ASK ME ANYTHING

The smaller Century offered full-width taillights that were actually full-width, meaning the entire thing lit up. Some Chrysler/Dodge cars of the same time period had the same look, but sadly the center portion was just a reflector panel. Buick made the entire width of the rear end light up, and I probably should have worded that better lol

Dashboard/Instrument Panel: 1992-1993 Buick Roadmaster
[PokeCommunity.com] 10,000 POSTS ASK ME ANYTHING

For whatever reason, the dashboard of the Roadmaster actually got worse once the better engine debuted: But in 1992 and '93, you got a piece with copious amounts of faux-wood trim AND a full set of gauges including volt-meter and tachometer, which vanished with the "revised" dashboard design.

Seats: 1980-1984 Buick Electra Park Avenue edition
[PokeCommunity.com] 10,000 POSTS ASK ME ANYTHING

The automotive equivalent of a favorite plushie, these seats were very soft, very comfortable, and a great place to sit down, relax, and enjoy the drive.

Hood Ornament: 1985 Buick LeSabre/1996 Buick Roadmaster:
[PokeCommunity.com] 10,000 POSTS ASK ME ANYTHING

And of course, my car must be a "Collector's Edition", a distinction that Buick gave to both the '85 LeSabre and the '96 Roadmaster.
