The "Adventures of Unova" is a posting challenge here on Fifth Generation, where everyone is put into a given scenario, where you'll be able to obtain your own pokemon, and based on how your pokemon will grow will depend on the posts you do here on this forum! Basically, this challenges you to post effectively, but your progress here will grow if you do! Read on to learn more:


Q. What happens when you sign up?

To sign up, all you have to do is express your interest on this thread, as well as one stater pokemon that you like. The starter pokemon will be one of these below:

Once you've gotten your starter pokemon, you'll be recorded on this thread, and now it's time to begin!



Q. Could we get more pokemon?

Of course! This is where the posting comes in! Now, as said, there will be different scenarios where you'll see different pokemon available to capture. Don't worry, you don't need to worry about pokeballs and all that, but rather, you'll have to post a certain number of times on this board here on PC, in order to be able to catch certain pokemon.

You'll generally see a list of wild pokemon along with the posting requirement. Take a look at the spoiler below for an example:

Q. Can the Pokémon evolve?

Yup! To have one of your pokemon pokemon evolve, you'll just need to make 10 posts altogether here on the Fifth Generation board (or in other words, 10 posts for each pokemon that needs to evolve). That includes:

Pokemon that evolve via happiness

Pokemon that evolve via evolution stones

Pokemon that evolve via trading


And any other evolution methods you can think of. Yes, at times, you'll get pokemon that have more than one evolution that it can evolve to, for example, Eevee can evolve into multiple pokemon, based on what stone you give it.

On that regard, you can choose which evolution the pokemon will evolve to! Like for instance, if you get said Eevee and you'd want it to evolve into a Jolteon, just mention that in your update post once you make your required 10 posts. Again, that's only for pokemon that has a branched evolution.



Q. Recording your Progress

While the pokemon and other stuff you obtain will be recorded on the OP, you'll be responsible on keeping track of the number of posts and threads you make. An easy way to do this is to put all of the threads and posts as links, all in one posts in a spoiler. For example:

Q. What are these scenarios?

So as said again, there will be different scenarios throughout this posting challenge. Basically this is where you'll be able to catch pokemon for posts. Like, you might enter a specific route, or even a city! There will be also be *special* posting challenges where you might be asked to do a very specific posting challenge in order to get something special --

like your very own Medal!

and...

Badges!

You know know when you will receive, or be able to get a medal or symbol on here until the time comes for you, so I encourage you to be as active as you can be!

I'm joining, and I'd like Oshawott please... because it's my mascot

Cheren or Bianca? Who do you enjoy the most and why? Did you enjoy battling against Cheren or Bianca in the games? Did you enjoy Cheren and Bianca more from pokemon Black and White, or the "future" Cheren and Bianca from White 2 and Black 2?

I do love both, but Bianca's more cute so I'm going with her.

I mainly enjoyed Bianca more because her path saw her realizing she wasn't able to keep up to strength with her friends, and that made her question what path she should take in life. That eventually led to her deciding to become Professor Juniper's assistant come B2/W2.

I enjoyed battling both, but I always enjoyed defeating Cheren more because I was always ahead of him and it was just fun to keep getting ahead of him in terms of strength. Plus he eventually realized that it's more important to love your Pokemon if you want to get stronger.

As for which game I enjoyed the duo in, it was definitely B/W. Not to say their roles in B2/W2 weren't bad, but it was more fun seeing their differences and there was great development for them in the original games.

Well obviously Cheren because he looks like Apollo Justice dressed in blue. Seriously though, I don't like either more than the other, I felt like N did a much better job being your rival in B/W. I do like them more in B/W than B2/W2 though, they had more of an actual role in the originals than in B2/W2 where II felt like they were just there for the sake of being there.

I enjoy Bianca most. She seems like a nice person and shows a lot of growth throughout the games. On the other hand, Cheren was the more enjoyable to battle with, because I recall him having a stronger team than Bianca did. I definitely enjoyed the "future" Cheren and Bianca in Black & White 2, because of how much they'd matured since the first game. Cheren fits into the role of gym leader great, and same for Bianca as Professor Juniper's assistant.

I like Cheren a little more because his transition from a trainer who wanted power to one that appreciates and understand his Pokémon was done well in the game.
I did enjoy battling both Cheren and Bianca. It was nice having to fight against two rivals.
I have never played Black and White 2 but I have seen playthroughs. From what I watched, I like future Cheren and Bianca more as they were more mature.

I can't say I really preferred one over the other. It was nice battling and interacting with both of them and the story would be a bit less if it was only just one of them, especially considering how the whole dichotomies and pairs thing prevalent in the games is even stronger in Gen V. Same goes for Black2/White2 Cheren+Bianca and B/W Cheren+Bianca. It's hard to pick just one since seeing them go through Black/White is made better by seeing what they become afterwards in B2/W2, but if you didn't see their story in B/W, them in B2/W2 would be less meaningful.

- I preferred Bianca personally. I like her personality and choice of just going out and finding herself and her passions. Cheren personally annoyed me a little bit. the battling was fun and allowed for a lot of good battles for my team to gain experience. I definitely preferred the first ones from BW. I have limited experience with BW2 since i only got to Elesa's gym before i accidently deleted my save file causing me to fall into a pit of despair and unable to get myself to play it again. But from what i saw Cheren and Bianca became boring to me. Bianca especially because she seemed to have lost that bubbly personality that she had from BW a bit.

ALso question! So we catch Pokemon based on our posts on this thread specifically, in the Fifth Gen forum in general or just anywhere in the gaming forums? My second conjoins with this. Evolving a Pokemon is based on our posts in the Fourth Gen forum or just our posts anywhere in the gaming section? Sorry, i just got very confused reading the rules and probably am overthinking it all ~_~

Hmm? That's a hard one.

I believe I liked Cheren more. This is because I enjoyed watching him realize that power isn't the most important thing, and that the understanding of his Pokemon is more important.

I enjoyed battling Cheren more because I believe that the battles my character and his shared are what led him to the conclusion that power isn't everything.

I enjoyed the Cheren and Bianca from the original Black and White because I feel they had more purpose in those games, compared to the sequels.

This is a tough one for me, as I feel that both Cheren and Bianca are vital to the overall theme of Black and White: that there is no 'right' way to live your life. As N mentions in Chargestone Cave, Cheren and Bianca mirror the twin heroes from Unovan legend, with one — Bianca — representing truth, and the other — Cheren — ideals. In fact, you could argue that this makes them even more important to the plot of Black and White, because, like the twin heroes, neither of them are shown to be wrong in the end; they both come to terms with their own shortcomings and the choices they make, and that fuels the diverging paths they're revealed to have taken by the time of Black and White 2. While having the characters as mentors to the protagonist of the sequel games (and seeing Cheren as a Gym Leader, of all things) is awesome, it's the journey they take towards it that make them such compelling characters for me.

With that said, I think I enjoyed battling Cheren more, if only because I felt awful walking all over Bianca. Weirdly, though, I found I liked Bianca's Memory Link battle more than Cheren's; no idea why.

(I'll shut up now; it's half past eleven at night and I'm probably talking a whole lot of rubbish. :3)
