6th Gen All Event Pokemon to be released this year!

    But they're all at level 100 (which I hate! Stop doing that, jerks! ;-) ) even Mew which is weird since it only knows Pound. But anyway, I have been collecting the Japanese, Hong Kong and British events thanks to online trading so I basically have all except 4: Mew, Manaphy, Meloetta and Genesect, so while I would be looking forward to these four when they come out, I'm very disappointed about the level and not being able to train, so I think for those four I will be sticking with the previous gen ones I found and playing with those. Well, except for the Mew that's coming out in Japan with the release of Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow on the Virtual Console, I'll be trying my hardest to get one of those because it comes out at level 5 and it's my all time favourite pokemon!

    Anyway, how about you, excited about these events (if they come to your country. Going by the Hoopa fiasco, I'm fully expecting all of these to come to the states and NONE of them to come to Canada, and to further screw us, Nintendo will have fixed the trick that we used to get Hoopa in the first place to specifically screw us over specifically.) or will you be sticking with the ones you got before?
     
    Well, if there's really going to be an event for every event-only Pokémon from Gen. 1 to 5, means I can get rid of my old ones.
    I do agree it's really annoying that they come at Lv. 100 though, wish we could just at least level them. Not like I'd really use them though I guess, just collection pieces.

    Could most of the info be placeholder though? Some of it just seems weird, you know.

    At least I'm glad they're doing it this way, will satisfy the ocd part of myself if all the event have consistent OT and ID and event distribution locations yknow. Kinda funny how NA and Europe gets them but not Japan though.

    And why are some randomly serial code while some others are randomly Wi-Fi? Why not all Wi-Fi or all Serial Code?
     
    Given this year is the 20th anniversary of Pokemon, it's natural they want to give everything they've got. These event legends can be obtained monthly, with one to be released every month starting from February.
     
    It's about time they did something like this ^^ There's several mythical Pokemon that haven't been distributed in years, so this is a great opportunity for people to get the ones they missed out on. I guess them all being level 100 is less than ideal, but eh, personally I just want to get my hands on them to fill the holes in my Pokedex, and will probably use a few of them in Wi-Fi battles too.

    It is kind of a shame though that they're only doing this in North America. This is supposed to be a 20th anniversary celebration thing, so kinda stinks that other regions aren't getting in on the fun too :(
     
    I agree Cathy, it's terrible that region exclusivity has hurt me again. I do hope Europe and Australia do get events of their own for the 20th anniversary, even if it's not exactly identical to this.

    But for the Americans, it's a blessing because some of these event Pokemon haven't been available for many years.

    I certainly hope that some of the info is placeholder! And don't say NA, because it could very well be America only like Hoopa was. The worst part of that situation was that no one believed us when we said the event wasn't in Canada. Site after site just gave instructions on how to connect to McDonald's Wifi even though Reddit, Twitter and other sites were filled with people saying it wasn't, so ofcourse, when no on beleives the event is not in your country, no one will ever fix it, so I am concerned that these events will also not be made available in Canada but everyone in power thinks they are because Canada and the US are exactly identical to each other so ofcourse no one even tries to fix the issue.

    Again, be careful! It might not be North America, it might be the US only once again! (like my previous two Hoopa rants, lol! Yes, I'm very angry about that!) and the Gamestop events have also shown they are not North America wide, the Dragonite Serial code, for example, was Gamestop only, but EB Games (which is what we have in Canada, which is owned by Gamestop) got exactly 0 of the serial codes, so both Gamestop and as of last month Nintendo themselves have shown that just because an event comes to the US doesn't mean it ever will arrive in Canada.

    Edit: looks like the levels (and therefore information) on Serebii are not in fact placeholders since they created artwork showing the levl and moves: https://www.facebook.com/PokemonGlo...41844.148121982046487/448649635327052/?type=3 (the group is obviously no affiliated with Gamefreak or Nintendo, but the pictures were obviously made by someone connected) which makes their levels even weirder as Jirachi, Manaphy and Meloetta all only have 3 moves, and a lot of the pokemon have really low level moves which makes them being at level 100 all the more confusing. It genuinely looks like they just slapped out some random generic event pokemon and made them level 100 (which, for a US release is probably pretty standard I guess)

    Hoopa was definitely possible to get in Canada too. Game just checks to see if you're connected to a Wi-fi network named "McDonalds Free WiFi" with no encryption nor password on it and you'd get it. I live in Canada and I got it at home that way just fine, there's no reason why it wouldn't also have worked in Canada unless none of the McDonalds in Canada had the right network configuration.

    Also it's impossible the Wi-Fi ones can be locked to US-only. US and Canada use the exact same 3DSes and games, every Wi-Fi event for US you can get from anywhere else in the world if you have a NA 3DS + game.

    The serial code ones, yeah those might be US-only. But if you were able to get your hands on a code you'd be able to use it and download in Canada just fine. Problem is getting your hands on codes, though.

    Oh my goodness! I'm beyond delighted to hear this so thank you for alerting me! I would particularly love to get Celebi and Darkrai on my X cartridge :D
     
    I already have every single event Pokémon that's been given but I am happy to hear that the rest of the world gets the goodies that Japan always gets.
     
    I got absolutely none of the event legends. I nearly got the 3 shiny legend dogs though but at the time I had forgotten my ds at home (mostly cause I had no clue about the event and I was grounded).
     
    Good that they're doing this. I always found it annoying how there's all these Pokemon that exist but you can only get them when Nintendo/Game Freak feels like it (or if you hack).

    Is it really not a worldwide thing though? Pokemon is a global franchise, distribute this shit globally guys. Also what's so bad about them being level 100?

    Because you just get them served on a silver platter straight at Lv. 100 and you don't get to really play with them and get the satisfaction of leveling them to 100 on your own.

    No, no, no, I didn't say it was impossible to get, I said that they weren't available (as in not available the way the giveaway was presented) because you hit the nail right on the head, NONE of the McDonald's in canada do in fact have the right network configuration; McDonald's in Canada all have their wifi provided by Bell (at least in BC, Alberta and Ontario that I have personally tried mysef, which I can't fathom why it would be different in other provinces as Bell is nationwide and the reddit groups are filled with people all across the country who say the same thing, so we can't ALL be wrong) so ALL McDonald's Wifi routers are named "Bell McDonald's Wifi" or something along those lines. Bell is in the name which is how you know Bell is the one providing the wifi. Anyway, BEcause of that, NO McDonalds in Canada (unless border towns like Niagara Falls which get their internet from the states anyway) were providing this giveaway and because no one believes that this giveaway did not in fact happen, everyone refuses to fix the problem. Yes there was a trick to get the Hoopa, but that is still not getting the giveaway. I got the Manesh Arceus because the code just happened to work in North America, but it was a Hong Kong Event, so does that mean that the Hong Kong Event happened in North America? No. Having to resort to a trick doesn't equal having the gift released in your country. And if Nintendo genuinely thinks they DID release the gift in Canada, and they didn't because there is no way to get it in the format they distributed it in, then they're just going to keep doing it.

    Nintendo: "We released such-and-such serial code in North America"
    Canada: "No, that was to Game Stop. We don't have Gamestop in Canada. We have EB Games"
    Nintendo: "Well Gamestop owns it, so it's the same thing. We'll jsut ignore your complaints"

    Nintendo: "We'll release this pokemon to McDonalds Free WiFi."
    Canada: "There's no Mcdonald's in the entire country that has their routers named that, so none of us can get it."
    Nintendo: "McDonald's is the same everywhere, so we'll just ignore your complaints."

    Nintendo: "We'll release this giveaway to a Burger joint exclusively to New York City."
    Canada: "We don't="
    Nintendo: "There's hamburgers in Canada, therefore you can get this giveway. Learn how to use internet."

    and so on.

    And furthermore, the wifi events CAN be region locked for those of us that were avid Animal Crossing players know because wen the game first came out you could go to Nintendo Zones and Wifi Hotspots to get free gifts only available at those zones. One of these hotspots was Best Buy. People caught on that you could rename your home router Best Buy (exactly like this Hoopa Trick) and it worked for quite a long time to get free gifts, but Nintendo caught on and altered it so the trick no longer worked in Canada, and if they continue this trend, what exactly would stop nintendo from doing the same thing for future Pokemon releases like this? As I said, they already did it for Animal Crossing (before they axed the Nintendo Zone completely out of Canada) so what's stopping them from doing the same thing to Pokemon? They have these arrangements with these companies for a reason (to get people into their stores) which is fine if they actually release them into the stores, but when it doesn't get released in a country (like Canada) and everyone keeps going "oh well it doesn't matter because Canada is exactly the same as the US, so if the US is getting it, Canada must be too. Everyone in the entire country just must not know how to use Wifi" then the issue never gets addressed, and eventually we stop getting giveaways altogether. (as is what happened with the Dragonite I mentioned before at Gamestop)
     
    But you can't say US-only either because there's no guaranteeing it'll indeed be US-only.

    Hoopa may have been an oversight, but the only way it wouldn't be available in Canada was if Nintendo purposefully didn't have Canadian Gamestop/EB Games host the event.
    And the Wi-Fi ones, well I mean it depends on if they decide to do it like they did Hoopa, or if they do them as regular Wi-Fi events that you're meant to be able to download off Wi-Fi from anywhere.
     
    Personally, I'm looking forward to getting my hands on Deoxys; it's definitely been a while since I've had one of them.
