Animal Rights Thread!

Some of the top people that I hate in the world, are animal rights activists.
What idiots they really are.
Yes, they stand for something that they might believe in, but it is just annoying.

I don't see anything wrong with eating meat. If the human race didn't, we would have lose out on major bodily vitamins.

I am all for reasonable animal rights. However, I am not a vegetarian. I just eat meat that came from animals that lived full lives. Good thing I live near a place that sells meat like that. They raise their animals themselves. However, there is always the possibility that they are lying. :/ Oh well. They better not be. D:

That means I don't eat veil.

By reasonable, I mean a cow shouldn't be killed in the middle of it's life for a hamburger and snakes shouldn't be bred just to make nice belts. Things like that. Eating meat is just fine.

The videos really are biased, and both of'em. I said how I think both of them fail. If you think the opposite, please explain! :cheeky:
I guess if only solid facts matter, and ethics don't matter at all...
-Hey, I'm biggah than ya, now ima beat yo ass!
I'm sure you know better.

Ethics are opinions.
Facts are...facts.
Some people will always have their ethics, no matter what. Facts change the minds of people because they are true.
Your example failed.

Also, your reply to Fox fails as well because you use bad comparisons. Animals aren't used for hard labor in giant factory farms. They are bred just for eating, which sounds contrary to slaves.
I can see that you think animals like rabbits and cows are equal in worth to the humans. But of course, that is just an opinion.

Ethics don't matter in a discussion about truth.
and just for the hell of it, I can find meat much easier than plants that may substitute it. In a country like America, tempeh, Seiton, and Quiona are unheard of.

This, this and once again this.

Whatever we say here will be shot down with 'Cows/chickens/fluffy bunnies have feelings too' or .. somehow you will compare what someone said to slavery?
Not really a discussion. You're sort of just pushing your views.

All kinds of activists may be annoying. However, notice your feelings aren't towards the animal cause.
Everyone can be annoying. Sometimes I tend to freak out even my vegan friends on cookie-based diets.
About vitamins, check your data: how many vitamins do you think you get from meat? And how many vitamins do you think you only find in meat?

Tatu, I'd like to know if you really consider living caged and abused a full life. It's not only veal.
About eating meat... I'm all for it. www.churchofeuthanasia.org/  Everything has its way.

Meat is an important in a diet.
It provides a lot of Protein and other random stuff. Can't be bothered to research what they are.

Yes, other activists are annoying, but they are just one group that stick in my mine.

There are plenty of alternatives for people who choose not to eat meat.

For the more lazy groups, they usually go with meat because it is much rarer to find fruits and vegetables that provide what meat can give.

Um, they live in the fields. I drive past there every day and see all their animals outside.

A good alternative is tofu. On contrary to the popular believe, I think tofu tastes amazing.

Most people care about texture and taste. They go for that, then nutrients later.
That being said, tofu is tasteless. The most taste I've had out of tofu tasted like mud >.<
But maybe I just went to the wrong place for tofu.

D: I don't know why I taste tofu. I eat it by itself and it's one of my favorite foods.

ahh jeez not another thread like this T.T. we had like 100s of these at my old thread i use to go to. anyways...

Eating meat is perfectly fine. we may not have been made for it, but people have been eating meat since the cavemen. It is true that SOME places treat animals cruelly, but the store near us has a ranch (Right in front of our house) that has tons of room to roam and graze along with water and hey every 20-50 yards.

If it is wrong for us to eat meat, then why isn't it wrong for the Animals? Becuase they need it to survive? they Mantain the balance of nature? Guess what?
Spoiler:

We can survive on just vegies and some select items, but the proteins in the meat helps build strong muscles and increases the chance to live thus giving the population to survive as a species. (If the world was before Industrialization and like one big jungle)

Also, if animals eat animals, doesn't the prey have feelings of terror? do they die a cruel death?

even if it doesn't feel like it, we are in the world food chain.

End Rant

Not really a discussion. You're sort of just pushing your views.

Inef, I feel somehow you just mean to flame. As you probably do realise, I'm not pushing my views, everyone here is discussing the issue in a civilized way. However, if you need further evidence than the fact that is obviously stupid to take one's life to feel its taste, aí vão alguns:

1- To produce a pound of meat it takes 7 pounds of cereals and 2000gl of water, aside from what is also polluted with excrement. If 2/3 of the world poppulation ate like americans, the other third would have no land to grow food. There's more people starving to death in Africa than the entire poppulation of Brazil. It's therefore also unhuman to have such eating habits.

2- Meat is really bad for you. When animals are to be murdered, they secrete several poisonous substances in their meat. It's also full of poop, no matter where you get it from. So... fattening growth hormone, crap that makes no good, saturated fat full of bovine antibiotics, the list goes on. It's therefore also unhuman to have such eating habits, we'd be killing ourselves.

3- Several countries throughou Europe can't grow animals for food. It's just too harmful for the environment. Cows flatulences are responsible por MFing 29% of the harm done to the ozone layer. Aside from amonia and excrements usually (not to say always) disposed poorly. It's therefore also unhuman to have such eating habits, knowing we depend on the environment.

4,5,6,7,8,9,10 - You can find 'til the 4000th. Just google it up. I strongly recommend Peter Singer's Animal Liberation.

Every species is parasitic. Water can be cleaned, and grass can grow back. We are using renewable resources.
Thankfully, most people are not anything like Americans.
And your African analogy doesn't have anything to do with the subject at hand. This is about animal rights, not starving countries.

That is why you clean the animals.
Cooking animals kills almost all of the bacteria in it, and enforces the nutrients than eating it raw.

I would just like to see your statistics; cow farts sound too unbelievable to be true.

For the more lazy groups, they usually go with meat because it is much rarer to find fruits and vegetables that provide what meat can give.
But, IMO, meat is so much nicer! XD
Actually, meat has no much to offer, and is not really a healthy food. Although it can seem ok (even for fatloss, google up ketogenic diet), it has lots of crap on it such as growth hormone and saturated fat - the devil... watcha back, heart attack.
And as for the taste, it's... taste. It may please some people, but it's it ok to kill someone for his shoes? Talk about growing something, make it suffer, murder it and feel it's taste for five seconds.

Um, they live in the fields. I drive past there every day and see all their animals outside.

A good alternative is tofu. On contrary to the popular believe, I think tofu tastes amazing.
It's called semi-pasture regimen. About 15% of cows are grown like that. When they're about 2 they're caged to eat cereals, tomato tomato.

You should taste my tofu, really. You'd appologize to mud :D Though all my friends can cook heavenly tofu (they even make tofupiry sorta like tofu cream cheese).

Has been answered, look up there ^.

Spoiler:

My little brother sometimes poops on the floor and laughs about it. I'd find it fun too, but I know it makes a big mess. So, if my baby bro does, so can I? No. Grown-ups can measure their acts. If we don't need to do something that doesn't make any sense, we don't do it, period.

We can survive on just vegies and some select items, but the proteins in the meat helps build strong muscles and increases the chance to live thus giving the population to survive as a species. (If the world was before Industrialization and like one big jungle) I think I've explained how protein is important, and my personal experience with weight training and building muscle on a plant based diet. Also, as you said, the world is not a big jungle, and our survival as a species is, if anything, harmed by unthoughtful comsumption.

Also, if animals eat animals, doesn't the prey have feelings of terror? do they die a cruel death?
I'm now assuming you didn't bother to read the debate. If you think it's logical to eat meat because other animals do, please explain yourself. Otherwise you're just spamming.

even if it doesn't feel like it, we are in the world food chain.

tl;dr

Your main problem is the poor working conditions that they are kept in.

Every species is parasitic. Water can be cleaned, and grass can grow back. We are using renewable resources.
Thankfully, most people are not anything like Americans.

I think you missed the point. Though they're renewable resources, we don't have enough to renew for everyone at the same time. Not field nor water.

That is why you clean the animals.
Cooking animals kills almost all of the bacteria in it, and enforces the nutrients than eating it raw.

You can google up and find out more lots of info.

I would just like to see your statistics; cow farts sound too unbelievable to be true.
For instance: "[...]
A United Nations report has identified the world's rapidly growing herds of cattle as the greatest threat to the climate, forests and wildlife. And they are blamed for a host of other environmental crimes, from acid rain to the introduction of alien species, from producing deserts to creating dead zones in the oceans, from poisoning rivers and drinking water to destroying coral reefs."

Again, I'm still overwhelmed how many took interest on the issue, and thanks for sharing your points of view.

And as for the taste, it's... taste. It may please some people, but it's it ok to kill someone for his shoes? Talk about growing something, make it suffer, murder it and feel it's taste for five seconds.

We are not talking about killing someone else for their 'shoes'. It is a completely different scenario.

And about that cycle, it is the cycle of life.
Animals kill other animals, should we protest to stop that?

Bottom line, man kind has eaten meat from the early years of life and that will NEVER change.

I think you missed the point. Though they're renewable resources, we don't have enough to renew for everyone at the same time. Not field nor water.
Yet there aren't any reports that I've heard of that say "not enough grass for cows to graze" or something along those lines.

Fertilizer is also used to help plants grow, yet most people eat vegetables with no care in the world. Most of the carrots that I saw weren't fully cleaned either.

I don't know how to respond to this, but most of the negative fuels that slaughter houses make can be used to power homes.
Hopefully that should do it.
