My opinion:
So what if Nintendo is the leader in handheld games? SONY HAS NEVER MADE A HANDHELD SYSTEM BEFORE. I hope everyones DS's explode when they open the box so they realize that they shoulda gotten a PSP(jk). Nintendo's games are getting more and more childish everyday.

The DS will be comparable to a N64,
while a PSP is comparable to the PS2, plus, the UMDs can hold full length movies(like Final Fantasy VII-AC) so I would choose PSP over DS any day.

So what if DS has two screens? Whooptie-Freakin-Doo. Nobody needs two screens.
Sure, now you will think: two screens is an awsome idea, but really, having two screens has no purpose. The second screen is merely a map or a menu. BIG DEAL.

The PSPs screen will be very large(for watchin ur movies) and it has all the buttons of a PS2 controller. Having all the buttons is so simple, that Nintendo was dumb-enough not to do it. They even have a small circular pad on the PSP to use as a joystick.

The game list for DS is large, but they are all childish two-year-old games.
Super Mario 64x4? :laugh:
Donkey Kong? :laugh:
More Sonic? :laugh:

People, grow up! Those games are like Pac-Man, all you do is run around doing the same exact thing over and over again for no apparent reason. And I refuse to spend over $15 on boring repetative gaming like that!

PSP all the way!! We need a new leader in Handheld gaming!!

PSP does not have PS2 graphics. It has below PS2 graphics. DS has graphics better then N64. Both of their graphics are near Next-Gen graphics but not quite there.

[sarcasm]And oh yes, I'm going to go pay more money then I did for the Playstation 2 for a system that forces me to have yet another movie format and doesn't have as good graphics and the only good games for it announced are old Playstation 1 games, and can only play them for 2-3 hours.[/sarcasm]

I said COMPARABLE!! Learn how to read(jk). That GBA Picture is a Cinimatic from KH-CoM not in-game footage.
DS has graphics that are slightly better than N64.
PSP has graphics that are slightly worse than PS2.

It does not force. Some people still use only VHS today cuz they dont want a DVD player. Having a new movie format comes with the production of the UMD.

HMMMM.... That P.O.S. DS cartridge costs MORE than a UMD but no movies.


[sarcasm]The DS is the greatest thing since sliced bread. And the games announced for DS suck monkey balls and they are just remakes of N64 games. The PSP is only better because they will be porting the best PS1 games PLUS they will have remakes of PS2 games. [/sarcasm]

Buddy, all the DS games that have been announced are just two-year-old games, or remakes of two-year-old games.

I know sony has warped some peoples' minds into thinking that all other game systems and the people who play them are inferior, but SURPRISE! We're not...I know there's no way to make you listen to anyone else than sony, but I can't stand fanboy/girl-ism in any form when it comes to video games.

So you?ve mentioned the stats of the PSP and have done your duty and demonized the DS into making it sound like a handheld Atari, but despite your malevolent ranting, I suppose you don?t realize the most important factor in the success of a game: personal preference. Actually, I?m not. I?m not exactly crazy about the DS myself, but I can?t stand to see someone bash a system like that. Apparently you have no understanding of the DS and just love to sling around your sony-instilled hatred of everything non-sony.

Come on now, don?t say that if you don?t know the first thing about nintendo?s games. Haters don?t even bother to see what games the competitors have, and it looks like you haven?t either. They?re not kiddy, might I add, it?s just the perception of the PS2 people who are hardened on all the Grand Theft Auto and Hitman games that say things like that...now all the PS2 people bash the GCN people because Mario doesn?t kill people and hire prostitutes in all his games...we stick to what we know is quality, we don?t need all the extra blood and gore to sell games. So what? Really, so what? The DS is for people who don?t have $500 to shell out for the PSP. You might be made of money, but most of us here aren?t. I personally don?t care about graphics, and anyone who is buying for the games instead of the brand won?t either. I happen to like the throwback to 64 bits...I doubt you?re the type of person who?s into retro gaming, though. It?s all about the graphics, eh? Again, you can?t compare the two because they?re made for two different purposes and for two different types of consumer.

But I?m sure I?m just going to get flamed for this, probably something to the extent of wishing death on my family for liking Nintendo products, but at least I?ve taken my stand against this sort of blatant fanaticism =/
 
Eh, I'll stick with the DS. Mainly because I have a feeling that most of the games I'd be interested in will come out for only the DS, or will be ported to both systems, making the PSP rather useless.

The only reason I would get it is for the movies thing... and give a while and Ninento will come out with something more powerful, so I'll stick with them.

anyways, im just sayin i think PSP is better than DS. I wont flame people for personal preferance either, I dont like games just for graphics, I am actually into most games based on storyline.
Also, the PSP wont cost $500 its more around $250 and the price will drop soon after just like all the other systems did.

You can't really say that im into PSP just for graphics because as of now, thats the only spec that be used to rate games. Can I rate a game on its storyline? Battle system? Characters? Music? What else can you use to describe the games?

The biggest reason DS is popular is because of its dual screens which I think is a waste. I am allowed to show my opinion, and its not flaming.

I dont think Nintendo games are childish because of no blood or gore and stuff(i actually hate that stuff), but because they are repetative games which seem to have no point for any action or mission they do. Mario for instance. All he does is gather coins and mushrooms and stuff and tries to save Peach from Bowser, over and over and over and over again.

But when you compare him to Cloud Strife, there is no compitition.



All the games that I want will either be ported to both or on PSP anyways, making DS rather useless. The only reason I would want DS is cuz it has two screens but eventually Sony will make something better.(I didn't do this to mock you, thats what I believe)

Wow you don't know anything, and I really hate to embarrass you even more after what Chairman Kaga said, but I guess I will live. The second screen is used as a menu and a map, yes, but did you know you can also connect the DS to the internet and use the second screen as your instant messenger program while you play a video game on the first screen? Ya, I didn't think so. Next time you want to debate, come prepared.

She does have something against Nintendo people! She started a PSP Club and the rules are you can join if you don't like Nintendo and their kiddy games and whatnot. I started a DS club, just for fun when I saw it. Probably won't get anyone, but hey it was fun.

Yes I knew that. Its not that big of a deal. PSP has all that too, just not as a second screen. I just don't see the point of putting it on a second screen. Its just a novelty, and when it comes out, you all find that out for yourselves.

And I dont consider what he said embarassing. He thought that I only want PSP cuz of graphics and such, and because the DS's games are childish.
The only things PSP and DS have as of now(to rate in a debate) are its graphics and the fact that the DS has dual screens. And also the game list that they have.

I consider the DS games childish, because they have no point. You will do the same thing over and over again, but nothing has changed. Mario will keep fighting Bowser until he dies(unless thats impossible) just to save Peach. But there is no story backing the actions that he makes. Always doing what he does for no apparent reason. Thats why Mario and his Nintendo are dying, because more people are realizing that there are other games on other systems that appeal to a wider audience. And the games may actually have a point.

Nintendo took more price-cuts than Sony or Microsoft, due to the public changing their decisions. On the contrary, not only did Sony surpass Nintendo in sales, but Sony was able to classify thier system as a personal computer system(they wanted to do it for tax reasons). A feat that Nintendo has tried to do for years. It may not seem like a big deal to you, but Nintendo has tried to do this many times, and we have yet to see a time that they wont fail. Sony did it on their second try, and it is the most popular game console company now.

It has become the best seller because more people are starting to like the non-repetative childish gameplay.

I would expect that this pattern will follow through to their newest systems, making the PSP my obvious choice. Now you have all the information that backs my opinions. PM me if you wanna argue. geez.

I'm sorry too, sometimes I can go extremely crazy. Its our own opinions, lets be civilized. :D

:surprised When I posted that, I knew that PC's opinion was going to be completely biased toward DS and I was ready for all the hate-PMs that I have been recieving, but seriously, ITS MY OPINION PPL. People post what they want about DS and you praise them, but I post what I believe about PSP and all-of-a-sudden I'm a criminal. :\

Not all Nintendo games are kids' game by your definition Brittany. One of my favorite Nintendo series is the Metroid games, which has a deep storyline behind Samus and the space pirates. The Zelda series also isn't the same story in each game. There is a different sub story in each game accumulating into a great "Legend of Zelda".

That is true, but that is only two examples. Sony has many more examples to show than Nintendo.
The main force of Nintendo's games are the repetative-childish games.

Well...I'm planning on Getting 4 Systems this year,GBASP,Gamecube,PSP,and the DS,i don't even know if the PSP is even coming out this year...
 
I'm going for the DS. Nothing against PSP, but I've always preferred Nintendo's kiddy games to more mature games. Like I said in the GCN vs. PS2 vs. Xbox thread, the darkest video game I've played and enjoyed playing was the Metroid seies. XD
