I've been gone for almost a week and I'm surprised there wasn't an actual discussion thread of this! I am disappoint, PC. :P

Anyways! Two new iPhones are coming out in a couple weeks. Introducing the iPhone 6, and the iPhone 6 Plus. Both iPhones will come with iOS8, Apple Pay (a new service which coooould replace your physical credit cards), and it will be thinner than the 5/5S.

    Tech Specs!
    Spoiler:

There will also be a new smartwatch from Apple as well, called Apple Watch. It will interact with the iPhone 6.

iPhone 5C will be free and 5S will be $99 with two year contract.

iOS8 will come out as an update on September 17th. Can't wait!

discuss, because I'm so excited! ^_^

but but i like to call the iwatc--FINE I'LL FIX IT.

Is anyone getting the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus when it comes out? I'm proooobably going to step aside and upgrade to the 5S once my year is up. I'm still not sure how my 4S will be like after the iOS8 update, so we'll see...but I'd also love a GB upgrade. I'm running out of space for my music. lmao.

Tim Cook himself called it the iWatch.

I'll stick with my 5s, while my dad has pre-ordered the iPhone 6 Plus. I don't think I need such a huge screen, but I can see many who will appreciate a large screen iPhone. That said, the lack of OIS in the smaller model kinda disappoints me. At least they didn't remove the ambient light sensor like what they did with the iPod Touch 5th Gen.

As for the Apple Watch... At $349 it definitely isn't cheap, but based on various reports the watches have a very premium feel to it. I actually think it is better to wait for the 2nd Gen Watch... Though that won't happen until like 2016?

To add on: iOS 8 is still quite buggy, even in GM status. I'm using the GM copy on my iPhone 5s now since the 10th (yes, I have developer access). There are some irritating OS bugs that didn't exist in iOS 7.1.2. Battery drain is also quite severe compared to iOS 7.1.2. I'm not sure how it'll turn out for older iOS devices, but be warned that iOS 8 isn't going to be all that smooth... :(

I just bought a 32GB 5s. Literally in the week before the release of 6. Because I knew I wouldn't want a 6 (it ended up looking like the leaked pics I had believed the most and I always liked 4/5's look better) and was worried that they would stop selling the 32GB version after 6 came out. Like they only sell 8GB 4s now :p

iOS8 buggy you say? Perhaps I shall not upgrade my 5s then... Don't want it to become slower or worsen it's battery life the first thing I do :)

Is there perhaps a way to report that to Apple? I seriously would report to them about the battery drain before many angry consumers do to the point that they switch away from the iPhone.

Knowing Apple, they'll probably fix the battery issues in a iOS 8.1 update. Surprisingly, the battery only drains when I turn on cellular (meaning out of airplane mode, not even with 3G/LTE on). On airplane mode the battery life is obviously better - on par with iOS 7, but phones are not on airplane mode most of the time.

For some reason, my Wi-Fi reception seems to be quite 'bad' compared to iOS 7. It still displays 3 solid bars and multiple speed tests show similar performance, but my apps that require the web including Safari seem to take quite a bit longer to load stuff.

There are some pesky OS glitches. For example, the music app often overlaps the "now playing" with the list view (3 lines). Sometimes cut/copy/paste options just do not appear. iCloud Photo library is in quite a messy situation. Editing older photos will cause the photos app to crash. Apps not updated to iOS 8 yet which have access to photo libraries will be affected (such as whatsapp) because the central photo album is gone. This is what I mean (I have about 250 photos stored in my iPhone):

    Spoiler:

However, that's not to say iOS 8 is crap. There's quite a lot to look out for, such as when developers update their apps to support extensibility (can't wait for SwiftKey). The quick reply messaging feature is really convenient, but I just want to say... do not expect an entirely smooth experience after updating to iOS 8.

I'm questioning whether I want to know how much an international unlocked one of these would sell for, given that Apple even does those. An AMD A-series? Doesn't surprise me. There are phones $299.98 less than the 6+ on contract and people want to buy these… okay then. I think my 2012 Samsung that I bought for $70 would be able to compete with those toys rather well performance-wise. Don't remember the exact processor mine has, but hey – Apple has a history of selling sup-par stuff for a while. Remember the previous Mac Pro, with 6 GB of RAM? That Xeon was old.

My contract runs out next year, so as tempting as it may be to purchase the iPhone 6. I'm going to have to hold off until 2015.

Can't stand apple anything. It annoys me that everyone acts like it's the only smartphone out there. The (cr)app store has complete crap on it. With anything that a recent android version I can get so much more without having to jailbreak and hack into it.

Mine runs out next year as well, but my provider (AT&T) gave me a free upgrade to the 5S or 5C after one year of usage. I'll be one year with my iPhone 4S, and it hasn't failed me since the first time I got it. I'm ~very~ tempted to jump the gun, but like you, I'm holding that thought till next year when I have stable income. lol.

Although I agree that Apple products are overhyped, I hate the generalization that Samsung phones are the only Android devices out there even more than the bold portion.

Not trying to start a flame war. I like both operating systems and I use both. However I'm terribly sick of the many people who claim that Samsung "owns" Android. I can't wait to see their reactions when Samsung decides to migrate their lineup to Tizen.

I really have to agree with you about Samsung. It's everywhere these days, and it's not really even Google's Android at all. In fact, I would feel ashamed to call Samsung's version of the operating system Android at all, since it's very much heavily modified. Samsung is also always the most prominent in advertising as well when it comes to Android devices over here (and probably where you are too).

I like the design of the iPhone 6, like the round edges and thin sides. However, I won't be getting it. I love my 5c. I mean, they both basically do the same things. Also, its expensive. Not that impressed with iOS 8 either. I don't have it, but from the looks of it, it doesn't do anything too mind blowing.

From an aesthetic point of view, iOS 8 is far from groundbreaking. However, it is a massive developer release and updated/new third party apps are what make iOS 8 so much better.

Typing this using the SwiftKey keyboard on my iPhone. The android version was fantastic and this is no exception.

Did anyone upgrade to iOS8? I'm backing up right now, but I'm hearing reviews from fellow iPhone 4S users that the update was "severely lagging" so I'm beginning to resent myself. I'm thinking of waiting it out till I upgrade my iPhone, don't ya think?

I haven't upgraded, but am planning to soon. I have a 5c. However, in your case with the 4s and reported "lagging" I would probably wait if I were you. Why deal with lags when your upgrading soon anyway? Just my opinion, but its your call! :3

Naw, I made the final call not to do so last night when I attempted to restore + do a clean install on my iPhone. iTunes managed to mess up by giving me an unknown syncing error. It could have gone worse! xD I'm doing okay with 7 right now. iOS8 can wait.

    You mean this?

It certainly is a performance hit. However, I don't think it is as bad as using iOS 7 on an iPhone 4.

I don't know why people running older devices always complain that new software doesn't run like the older one ran. I always thought it was obvious that software that is newer is going to run on older devices slower. That goes with all technology. Not just iPhones.
