Are shinies worth it?

Simple question, I've been using the Masuda Method to breed Abras to get a shiny one. I'm only on 101 but I can't find a reason to spend so much time on this. What do you guys think?

    That's really a personal decision.
I'm going to make the assumption you want it for a Mega Alakazam, or atleast and Alakazam.
Personally I think the Pink Alakazam is pretty cool. But its up to you.
If youre keeping it as an Abra or Kadabra, I wouldnt bother, as theyre just pale.

But if it helps you decide, Ive recently bred, 400+ eevees. The first 350 were to get 9 Eevees with the natures and 5IV spreads the way I wanted.
Then I changed my mind and decided I wanted them to be in corresponding pokeballs, but only Females can pass on the pokeball and hidden ability if I want that, So I dexnav'ed over 400 more eevees to catch A female Hidden Ability Eevee for every type of pokeball.
And have started rebreeding to get my IV and nature spreads again.

(Managed to find and catch a shiny eevee during my dexnav search, but it has pretty horrible IVs)

Personally for me no shinies in general arent worth it but if theres that odd one that you really like then its worth trying. I love Shiny Charizard and Shiny Greninja so those are the two ive done so far.

A lot of the shiny colours look silly to me so im not bothered about collecting them or breeding for them.

If it added more than colour and a slight animation when starting a battle then you'd find more poeple going for them but as it is im glad its just a cosmetic thing for hardcore collectors.

I only bothered to breed a shiny fennekin for myself cause it's my favorite Kalos starter and its shiny sprite color looks quite good. I did this because I wanted to have a personalized pokemon that looks different from the rest. Shinies also have good trading values since you can easily trade it for a event legendary that's not in gen 6.

Honestly I never got big into the shiny thing. Yeah they're cool, but imo a lot of them are just uglier and it's either been too hard to find them or too tedious.

I never seem to run into them in the wild.

Well, it depends on some things. Do you really like the shiny you're after? Or do you just want it to be able to say you got one? You need a lot of patience to be able to get them. I just got a shiny Swablu in Omega Ruby after at LEAST three and a half hours of Sweet Scent usage with the Shiny Charm.

I never bother with shiny hunting, for me it's just too much of a time waster. They don't add any stats or advantages, so I don't bother. Though some do look better in shiny form, that would probably be the only reason I'd seek out specific shinies.

shinies just add novelty. They don't add anything other than a different coloration to certain pokemon. Yes, that shiny female ralts becomes a really attractive Mega Gardevoir, or that black Charizard that's so tempting to call a certain nickname. Again, its your personal decision to keep up with that Matsuda method. Besides, Shiny Alakazam is so fabulous, it may be worth getting that abra and breeding that into a competitive battling machine.

When I get lucky and find a shiny pokemon in the wild, that's often pretty cool, whether the pokemon is actually useful or not though is an entirely different story.

As for going out of my way to breed shiny pokemon... it really depends on the pokemon. Having a shiny pokemon provides a sense of uniqueness to the pokemon that most others just don't have. Shiny pokemon that I breed, I breed them shiny when I know that I'm going to be using the pokemon a lot, or if I have a sense of favoritism towards the pokemon, or I think the shiny version is more attractive then the normal version, or if I'm just really attached to the pokemon.
For example... I always demand that my Gorebyss is shiny. My attachment to Gorebyss is mainly focused around a very powerful Gorebyss that was shiny that I had way back in the third generation of games. I became really attached to that particular Gorebyss, and whenever I play with a Gorebyss now I always try to replicate it exactly as the old Gorebyss I used to have. My old Gorebyss was shiny... therefore I always demand that my current Gorebyss is shiny, because it is to make me feel like I've never stopped using the same Gorebyss.
I've had other shiny pokemon across the games I've played, but most of them have never mattered as much as that one shiny golden Gorebyss. Also my favorite color is yellow/gold so everything about a shiny Gorebyss is just perfect to me, if anything the shiny Gorebyss has always been the main Mascot of my team for a fairly long time, and I couldn't imagine not having one in any of the pokemon games I've played (post generation 3).

I'm not really a hardcore player, so for me using up all of that time on something technically virtual doesn't seem worth it to me. Though finding one by chance is always a special moment. Only happened for me once however.
