Ever so true. Also irrelevant to the issue of gay marriage, which is simply a bond between two people. Reproduction is not the issue.

Yes, but saying things like "I think gay amrriage is weird," is like something out of the 50s. I mean like Allistories said, in this day and age divorce, interracial marriage, divorces are the norm. I mean it's no wierd it's innovative.

So infertile couples are out of luck then? What is the big deal about being unable to procreate? It's not like we need a lot more people in the world anyway, and it would help if there were more people out there to help adopt all the kids no one wants. A lot of heterosexual couples don't want kids anyway. Besides, being married doesn't have any correlation to being competent at raising kids. Not to mention some people just plain aren't proud of their genes enough to warrant having kids.

Any straight person will never understand how a person of a gender can love someone from the same gender.

Hmm.. I am straight, I don't find other males attractive and never have (cos I find girls a lot nicer to look at. woop :D).
Strangely enough though, I can understand why someone would like someone from the same gender, it's just the way they are. I wouldn't discriminate or have a prejudice against them because they are of different sexual orientation to myself.

I just felt like pointing this out when browsing the thread (and catching up on the 50+ new posts ¬_¬). But everyone whos used an example of homosexuality involving a gender, has focused on male-male relationships.
Lesbian relationships also apply, but since many of the posters against are male they appear to be taking a extremely more biased stance against male homosexual relationships.

UGH. How is it destroying anything? MORE people can get married, so it hurts other marriages? "OH SALLY I LOVE YOU LET'S GET MARRIED OH WAIT THOSE GAYS OVER THERE ARE GETTING MARRIED. THIS JUST DOESN'T SEEM FUN ANYMORE."

If current marriage traditions simply refuse accommodate gays and yet continue to stagnate, then it suggests to me that perhaps not all cultural traditions deserve immortality.

But when two people who love each other - boys, or girls, or trans - wish to commit to each other to spend the rest of their natural lives together? THAT - to you - presents a problem? Unbelievable.
I adore how that in one hand an anti-love arguer will spout 'til the cows come home that gay people are more promiscuous, less likely to settle down, more likely to sleep around ~ and then! In the same breath, try and say that it's fine to deny them the RIGHT and LEGAL STATUS of marriage? Hah!

That is a great point. I mean you want people who amrriage means nothing to get married, but where a couple who want to spend their lives together not get married JUST because theya re the same gender makes no sense at all.

If marriage in its purest form is a binding symbol of love, why should it not be open to all who are capable of that love, who are willing to commit their lives to another?

If anything, it only reinforces the value of marriage.

I agree, but let's gt back to out debate as he is now gone. Why do peole seem to think gay adoption is bad idea? Perosnally, I know people who have adopted children and are gay and the child isa functional member of society and appriciates the chance to grow up in a family. I mean iasn't it better to grow up in a a home then foster care.
