Attack or Defense? c:

I too have fallen to the offensive curse. There are so many ways to murder with Choice Itemns and Life Orb. Gyrados does do both well though.

I tend to use attacking Pokemon because they are priceless in the team. However, I also rely a lot on speed. Getting in first on the opponent is vital in battles.

I used to just put attacking moves on my Pokémon when I was younger, no support moves at all.

I've started keeping support moves now, though, and I don't even play competitively, no Battle Tower either. It just makes me feel safer to have those moves on my Pokémon. (Or something like that...)

I'm mostly into a serious attack strategy. Finding a Pokémon's main stats and exploiting them. Arming a Dragonite with Blizzard, Fire Blast, Thunder and Surf. Quick switches in and out to gain a type advantage is easy but it does get boring. Now I tend to go for speed and progressing attacks like Scyther with swords dance and fury cutter etc.

I use a good combination of both for competitive and in-game battling. They're both a lot more offensively oriented now, so it's more offense but I never forget defensive moves.

I'm a heavy offensive type battler. I focus on mainly speed attack and/or special attack. It is very rarely when I go defensive in most of my teams.

I usually go special attack and speed in my battles. I only sometimes use defense and attack in battles. :)

Ask my Eeveelutions--the only moves that mess with stats on my team is my Vaporeon's Haze...

I have Jolteon with Thunder Wave, Umbreon with Confuse Ray and Toxic, Leafeon with Synthesis, Glaceon with Mirror Coat, and the rest is all raw attacking. Jolteon, Glaceon, Espeon, and Vaporeon are all beasts with Special Attack, and two of them are gifted with fantastic speed (the other two rely on massive HP or good defenses...)

But, yeah. I'm pretty much all-out offensive, maybe relying on a Confuse Ray/Toxic combo or Haze (Bronzong's Calm Mind was a pain in the butt without it), but otherwise I just don't really see the need...

However, I do intend to keep Sword's Dance on Leafeon ^^

I have no intention of getting into competitive battle, so yeah, I basically dump mostly attacking moves onto my Pokemon.

My Luxray in Platinum does have Charge though, which has definitely been handy on plenty of occasions, and my Skarmory has the Toxic/Fly combo, which is very useful. Both Pokemon make good walls when I want to heal my team during tough fights. I also use weather moves, especially Sunny Day and Rain Dance. In Colosseum, more strategy was required because the entire game was in double battles, so I actually had things like Light Screen and Reflect in my movesets as well as other more 'strategic' moves. For the most part, though, I just want to mow through everything with attacks and think stat-boosting would be taking up a turn I could use to attack (even though it'd make the attacks stronger thus taking fewer hits to KO the opponent).

I've never had a Pokemon with a lot of stat boosters / reducers. I've always kept it strictly to attacking, though during legendary battles I guess it's not much of a well thought out plan there, hm..

Attack, attack and attack again XD

AttackAttackAttack!!

On most games, not just Pokemon, my strategies have a tendency to begin as ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK (pray I don't get attacked first.) As I continue to play said games, my stategy slowly develops into more complex affairs, but I have an alarming tendency to remain attack oriented for most of my teams. Generally, I think that focusing entirely on Attack can have it's benefits, but leaves one open to devestating counterattacks from enemies that have prepared for this sort of berserker mindset. As with most things, it's a good idea to maintain a balance between the two extremes.

Neither.

Status > Everything Else

Confuse Ray/Swagger, Thunder Wave, Flame Orb + Trick, Toxic... I absolutely love status effects. They can cripple Attack-heavy teams and wear down Defensive ones.
