People are arbitrarily picking people to kill, on the condition that that person hasn't already been voted against today. We're spreading the vote in order to kill the devourer, who apparently takes extra damage if not voted for. That's how I understand it, at least.

the devourer has votes counted against him x3, so if everyone votes for one person, the devourer should die.

Can definitely see this plan backfiring though - it only works if literally every player votes (or at least someone would need to have a vote on the correct person if not everyone votes. Though I suppose if the situation were to arise where not enough people voted and the Devourer remained alive it would narrow it down to the players that weren't voted for).
