You should post in Gaming media! We retooled the LP forum to encourage discussion of stuff like this.

I already talked about SpicyWaffle in the LP Forum a bit. I'm not sure if I'd create a topic about them since its their gaming channel and not mine, and i sure wished i was a member of team SpicyWaffle so i can rightfully be BLOOOOOOD DANCIN...

Moving on:

I thought about something, why don't we have many action-filled and ultra intense games about the Old Testament. For those with a roman catholic background or at least have an interest with religions, the Old Testament in the Bible, after Genesis, is a series of chapters that depict the stories of the Isrealites who made their way out of Egypt and into God's promised land. And throughout this adventure and scriptures, there's a whole battles and violent acts. Oh yeah, like that chapter where Joshua and his army annihilate the city of Jericho as an act of genocide where every man, woman, child, dog, donkey, and everything that took in breath were ripped and torn apart. And aside from that, there's a whole lot of battles against other tribes. Ya know, for kids? (Would totally play that level btw)

Also, please do not refer any game from Wisdom Tree (aka "Bible" Games).

Tldr; Old Testament was Edgy as ****. It totally deserves a Warriors style, a God of War or DMC style, or a Ryse Son of Rome style of game, and would make at least one religion look cool. We have loads of stuff about Greek and Roman history and mythology which most are as edgy and as overdrawn in the blood bank as ****.

Also, blowing off some steam by playing some Ryse Son of Rome.

One does not simply quit masochism.

You're doing a good thing, though.
This is true...I would very much like to get the platinums for the games I'm currently playing - Digimon Story and Megadimension Neptunia - before I quit, so I probably will. But I AM going to quit. Because my backlog is horrific and I want to actually play these games and enjoy them, rather than just keeping racking them up. I just realised I've got several games I've not even opened yet because I've not had the time to get to them, and that I was putting off a playthrough of Star Ocean 4 just because I didn't want to spend hours on it for the battle trophies and three separate playthroughs.

Maybe every now and then I'll come out of trophy-whoring retirement for something I love playing like Disgaea, or something quick and easy I can do whilst I play the game through the first time, like an Atelier title. But I am done packing away hundreds of hours into titles I didn't really enjoy and don't want to play any longer than necessary. I had that feeling with Dungeon Travelers 2 - which took me about thirty hours on top of the main game to get 20k kills - and Tales of Zestiria was awful yet I platted it anyway. Oh yes, I am so done.

I'm sure there's a topic in there somewhere about how we play games...

Played a little more Far Cry Primal today and got four more trophies. Game is really fun. The bee bomb is hilarious. Throw it between enemies and watch as they all get swarmed.

There was a topic on how we play games but i think that thread is kinda dead so I'll necrorevive it with my Resurrection Skillz

On the other hand, not playing League (LoL) for more than a week bit me in the bee-hind yesterday. I played in midlane (Jungle role was taken by random autolockers) and while i didn't play poorly, my execution with Zed (a champ i used to actually do so well with) was so lacking that it made long lasting impacts that tilted. So yeah lost badly and had to play a second game to make up for the loss. The hardships of having so many IRL things to do while keeping up with the competitive arena.. I don't know how some people do it. They can spent entire weeks not playing their competitive game and still comeback strong. I guess it just depends on the game their playing and the MMR/ELO they are anchoring on, other than of course their in-game skill level.

And for other silly things, I finally decided to result to PS2 emulation via PSXC2 in order to play some PS2 games that I never fully played. I was quite surprised that my toaster of a laptop could run a PSX Emulator just fine without any frame rate issues such as Mega Man Legends 1 so its time to test the limits.

These days PCSX2 can run pretty well on lower-end systems. As long as you're not trying to run something like Persona 4, Dynasty Warriors, or Dot Hack GU, there's a good chance you'll be able to run it at...well, that's a big statement.

Specs?

I just realized this late that the Unreal Engine 4 is actually free to download. Guess i need to take some of my friends who studied Game Design and Programming so we can create Brutal Drakengard, a brutalized remake of Drakengard 1 with much more violent content, much more graphic kills, and much much more glorious bloodshowers along with much more refined gameplay....

Fire Emblem: Fates for us, Bravely Second for you. Maybe a little Yokai Watch for us and Pokemon Rumble World retail for you, too. Otherwise I suspect the content will be mostly the same. If the US gets a DQVII release date and the EU doesn't - or it's several weeks/months later - I am going to go absolutely ballistic.

They need to STOP with this stupid musical chairs of release dates between regions; it's infuriating.

Hopefully they announce Paper Mario Wii U today. And it's like the first two games, and absolutely nothing like the second two games.

Soooooo...thoughts on the Direct? Thought I'd share mine before I go sleep.

Hyrule Warriors Legends was all I really took away from it, to be honest. Medli is so cute! Good choice. I'd rather have a villain like Vaati, buuut...eh, there are four DLC packs. Might get lucky. I just hope Makar isn't playable, that'd be a phenomenal waste of time...

Lack of a DQVII release date was depressing, but it's nice to know we're getting the next MH game...and I suppose having a FE Fates release date is nice as well. Now I have a time frame for panicking about securing the overpriced special edition for my mother. I just hope my local GAME store do preorders or something; I just know I'll miss the online store preorders...

I could practically hear the screams of anguish at Earthbound being N3DS exclusive. Bahahahaha. It's great that they're finally acknowledging the console even if it's only with freakin' eShop titles. Maybe we'll get Super Metroid and Secret of Mana...

Here is my one thought; they continue to ruin the Paper Mario series. Sure, it looks beautiful, but it's basically Sticker Star 2. How can a company be so out of touch with their consumers?

I was expecting a new character reveal for Pokken Tournament to fill up those four empty slots in the character select screen, but it looks like those slots are being saved for future DLC. Yes, another Splatoon update, but dang, no confirmation of Squid Sister amiibos nor playable Octolings. The new Paper Mario game is gotta be better than Sticker Star this time, because that one left a bad taste in everyone's mouths. I'm happy that Federation Force's art style was left unchanged, and I'm surprised it's not getting an August release, as that's suppose to be Metroid Month. If Project Guard was the reason why Star Fox Zero got initially delayed, then I hope it pays off. Wolf is back, as expected, but it's too little too late for him to re-join Smash as DLC (R.I.P.). The fact that the Mother 3 rumor got debunked by this direct should remind everyone not to trust Emily Rogers, who started that rumor in the first place.

How can a company be so out of touch with their consumers?

Yet I hear people saying the Mario & Luigi RPG series is getting stale and repetitive, which the Paper Mario series is trying to avoid by experiment new gameplay mechanics, whether it's a hit (Super Paper Mario) or a miss (Sticker Star). If every Paper Mario game kept being like TTYD, then it would've suffered the same fate as M&L RPG. So what exactly do you want: change or the same old?

Their nonchalant mention of newly announced titles and significant, close release dates near the middle (at least, in the NA Direct) nearly gave me a heart attack.

Also, Jesus. That was a lot.

As for Tokyo Mirage Sessions, "It takes place in Japan, so we retained the original voice track with English Subtitles." Pffft. Okay. But for Atlus to do this is pretty surprising. And smart, since people have been asking for Japanese VOs anyway. Rip Laura Bailey, not really happy about this. Makes sense, considering it's the Wii U release of an already divisive title, so why put in the money, right? Especially if people won't give a shit either way. Yeah. Sure.

Other than that, happy about all the release dates. Glad to see we're finally getting Rhythm Heaven the Best (called Megamix) and Monster Hunter X (called Generations). I'm probably the only person who's been waiting since it's announcement and was excited when it was brought up, but the F2P ARPG Lost Reavers seems pretty interesting, and info's been kinda spread out, so I'm glad to see...what was it? A release date? Eh, it doesn't matter. It's happening, that's good enough for me. Honestly, I'm expecting it to be mediocre, but there really isn't much to scratch the fast-paced ARPG itch on the Wii U at the moment, so it'll be fun.

And, uh...lessee...no slopes for Mario Maker but keys make for objective/exploration-based levels and less-creator restricted boss battles, so that's pretty cool.

Robobot had me cracking up. Had no idea Pokken was so soon.

And, uh...yeah. Disappointed that there was no Inazuma Eleven 2 for us or Galaxy for EU, but other than that it was pretty solid.

Here is my one thought; they continue to ruin the Paper Mario series. Sure, it looks beautiful, but it's basically Sticker Star 2. How can a company be so out of touch with their consumers?
I don't see what the problem is, they just made Paper Jam. That they're doing a new Paper Mario title at all is pretty shocking, but doing another M&L-styled (or, going further, PM64-styled) RPG so soon after the release of that? Potentially risky territory.

Plus, considering how little they showed, I'm surprised you've already come to the conclusion that it's bad and isn't doing Paper Mario justice.

Sticker Star was an out and out failure. Super Paper Mario wasn't that great either, to be honest. The series became popular because of the turn-based gameplay in the first two.

I mean, hell, we're on a site about Pokemon. If Sun & Moon ditched the turn-based battling, people would hate it.

Since its morning at the part of the world where I am, good morning VG. Also, for the first time in months, i woke up at 7:00am even after playing some FE14: BR all night long. (I hope that did not sound wrong though... D:)

Since some people mentioned FE Amie, which is sadly not in the English/Western release... here's what we are missing out unless people are playing the Japanese version.. we can thank some of the moral guardians who are more green minded than the players they are criticizing.

So one day i wanted to talk about the HORRIBLE BOX ART that Doom 2016 originally had, but then again, there's faith in humanity with this lovely piece of news:

Doom Box art being changed

I also wanted to talk about the importance of good box art overall in VGs hence why i created a "game/spam topic" thread something related to that as well.

For reference, this is what the Doom 2016 Box art currently is:

Terrible amirite? And what was one of Bethseda and id Software's goals for Doom 2016? To help it stand out against the likes of Halolz, Call of dudes, and Battlefield? This boxart is completely contrary to their goal. There's another boxart that shows a Revenant instead, but that's only marginally better and its too reminiscent of Doom 3's boxart.

PS: I guess only Necrum is gunna relate so yeah, its k

Yeah, the box art seems like a pretty strange choice. It honestly doesn't really speak to the game's roots or make it stand out, as it ultimately looks like a generic soldier (or as machomuu said, Master Chief.) It would actually be pretty cool if they did a modern remake of the old Doom cover; I'd dig it.

Here are the alternative box arts that they are currently voting on:

Personally, I think the second picture is so much better and should be the new Doom cover art.

Second picture is a homage to the original Doom cover art, which i think is one of the best boxarts ever created. The second one is really good because it tells you everything that you are getting yourselves into and not just a picture of some soldier like in most other FPS games, and I already voted for the Doomguy vs Demons one in the twitter feed. I don't like the one with the plain black background since its all "EDGE" and not much "DOOM".

Also, we haven't really gotten any cool box arts that pretty much tells us, without saying a word, the literal hell you'll be going through. I've been looking at a ton of VG boxarts and honestly, Doom 1's boxart is my benchmark on what a good boxart should look like. I mean really, what's with some people not telling much on their boxarts these days. I could understand that i guess its better for some VGs to surprise their players, like how some great books have really shoddy covers.

Heck I'm liking the designs of most of the monsters. I just recently saw the Doom 4 Baron of Hell, which was one of my favorite monsters since the good ol days and well:
Screenshots of the Doom 4 monsters

Dat Baron of Hell though. Great design. Its Pink, its has horns, and has that intimidating sh*t eating grin that you'd really want to tear off.
