What's the best base for a Starter to have?...

I think some bases low and some that are high is OK, but I think it is good for a starter.

Thanks for the reply...but there's always such controversy over the Starter Poke'...so I wanted to settle it

I think some rather high bases and some low stats.
if you look at torterra, he has a high defense and attack, but his special stats and speed are terrible.
the same goes for infernapes speed and defense stats.

In my experience stats don't make a huge difference in-game. It really only counts in competitive battling where you need every possible point you can get. The difference in power between say Blaziken and Metagross isn't all that great.

In response to your question, I think they should be quite high, a base stat of 530 should do.

I like them rather high up, with one or two below average. But thats just me.

    It depends, I guess.

If your starter is small, it should have high speed but low defense.
If your starter is big, it should have high defense but low speed.

    Does that make sense?
