Best browser?

As FireFox is becoming more and more well known, webdesigners are beginning to code in a more correct way, and for some reason I doubt that the Longhorn version of IE will be as behind the times as it current is. Microsoft knows that people are starting to go to different browsers because of the tabs, whatelse, and they will move with the times.

FireFox, Opera, all 'dem are ahead of IE, and IE needs to catch up. As do the silly webmasters that code for IE.

Bad coding.... yes... I forgot the # from the hex codes, ^_^... so it will look bad when view in mozilla..

But it's kinda funny though. ^_^

IE will read <font color="000000">???

That's just absurd. -.-;

Wow, if FireFox and Opera are so 'advanced' I wonder why I can't go to any given site on the web and be assured it'll work? Thats advancement, for sure.
Explorer will advance to meet the needs of consumers when the time comes.
SP2 Explorer has pop-up blocking at last.
People don't understand that Microsoft have to tread VERY lightly with Explorer, and what they implement. Every new feature is a potential anti-competative behaviour lawsuit.

I'm sorry, but people will ALWAYS use Explorer.
Netscape/Mozilla have tried so very hard to loosen it's grip since like..1994, but here we are, 10 years later, and Microosft still have the dominant browser.
Funny that.

As for that retarded 'Silly Webmasters who Code for IE' comment, I'm sure if you were getting paid six figures to maintain a big site, you'd code for the browser 99.9% of the population uses, too.

Edit: And yes, IE will render a hex color without the requirement of a leading hash sign. Why shouldn't it? It's absurd NOT to.

So?
I'm already running Longhorn on my Barton box.
And when it goes RC2, it'll get installed on my primary box.
I'll still be using Internet Explorer, it'll STILL be the dominant browser, and I'll still be able to view any page I like and have it work.
I'm not sure exactly what kind of point you were trying to make, but I have a feeling it failed.

*cough* That's if you buy it.

You could just download it or borrow it off a friend like you can with XP.

I'm not sure where you get your information, but whatever.
It'll be about the same cost as Windows XP on launch. Probably a slightly cut down version for the masses, on a $49/$99/$149 price tag for the upgrade.
People stick with an OS until a new one is released, generally.
So uh..I still don't see the point of your previous post, "You all will be running Windows XP and you'll be stuck with Internet Explorer in Service Pack 2! Why? Because after SP2, only Longhorn and later will have the newer versions and you have to upgrade to get them!". Again I ask, so? The SP2 edition of Explorer will do us fine until Longhorn.

Edit: Any version of XP that you 'borrow off a friend' was never paid for in the first place. So you of course mean, "XP that you get a pirated copy of, from a friend", right?

Well to me FireBird is the best (from what I used).
I mean IE sucks <_<; (pop ups, slow and other stuff). And I can get on the internet when dialing up faster then I can get FireFox to load the first time (I mean if I closed it and when opened a new window it takes forever to load that). So that is why I went back to FireBird and that is why I like it best.

You could always install Service Pack 2 for Windows XP, and get integrated pop-up blocking for Explorer, ya know.

Not for sure. A WinXP Pro version can legally be installed on multiple computers.

And you could always get a pop-up blocker. That solves a lot of problems. Yes, it does. *gasp*

No, it cannot.
Unless you have a volume licence, which trust me, you don't.
Each copy of Windows XP Professional is licensed for installation on a single machine only.
I'd love to know where your information comes from, because wherever it is, it's wrong.

But really, what's the point of tabs in a Windows Browser?
The habbit is to look to the taskbar to switch windows, or else use Alt+Tab.
Tabbed browsers just make no sense to me, as they force you to relearn something you've known how to do for years.

Say word?.
a1337A you sound just like Shinning Arcanine here and it seems like you?re a devoted fan on Microsoft. The fact of the matter is, as a designer the better browser is the browser that allows me to do more with the web. Even with the second service pack IE poorly complies with W3 standards.

If in 20 years everyone is still using IE and in 20 years IE is still poorly complying with W3 standards, I will prolly program with IE in mind just like I do now. It?s just the sensible thing to do but it doesn?t mean it?s the best browser.

It's like carrying around a Visa when Brand X offers you 3x the benefits on purchases. You cary Visa cause it?s accepted everywhere.

I'm no devoted fan.
If I was, I'd have given them a few dollars over the years.
As of now, I've yet to do so.
I just use what works.

The point I'm trying to make is that W3 standards are really quite meaningless in todays internet, because Explorer does spit all over them, with no signs of changing it's ways.
I'd wager 99% of the world wide web is based on explorer standards, not on W3 standards.
Heck, I'd even say the W3 standards will change to fit explorer in time, rather than vice versa.
So when making a new browser, why go against the grain and comply to a standard no-one adheres to when making pages, anyway?

Bleh, that's just what I've heard. >_>

Because having multiple windows clutters up the taskbar. I have enough stuff in my taskbar (I wish you could hide more stuff in that one area to the right - I forget it's name), I really don't care to have 5 internet windows. Not to mention that it takes longer to load a new browser window than it does to open up a new tab - at least for me.

comply to a standard no-one adheres to when making pages
More and more people are adhering to those now-a-days. I see more and more sites putting up the "Get FireFox" buttons and stuff, it just makes more sense to adhere to something that browsers should support.

To advance the World Wide Web.

You make a really good point, it seems to make more since to comply with MS standards then to comply with W3 but if you take a close look MS aint going nowhere.... in terms of support for diffrent technologies IE covers the bare minimum. And it seems to me that the same "standards" IE used in 97 are being used in 2004-05.

With IE standards the World Wide Web is stagnate (2nd time i used that word today lol), decrepid and just plain old with W3 it's dynamic and growing.

Windows 9x is very unstable. Users should atleast stick with Windows 2000 the mininum, unless they are not bothered by the blue screens. ^_^

Well like JK said it takes up space on the taskbar. Click the link below and look at all the tabs I have open. Then think what if all them was windows on the taskbar. I have MSN and two chats open on the taskbar and then add all them tabs and it would be a real mess (and most of the times I have like 10 PC tabs own just for looking around PC, then I also have other sites open).
