[Best Veteran March/May 2011] A new professor in town - Kanto Adventure PG13

Gym Battle part 1

Rini ducked behind a building and breathed a sigh of relief. No one seemed to be coming after her... at least not now.

"Caterpie, what am I gonna do with you?" Rini stroaked her head in affection.

Caterpie grinned, looked her in the face and spit silk.

"Same Caterpie." Rini laughed, pulling the threads off her face. She then glanced down at her watch. "Ahh! We're gonna be late if we don't hurry."

Rini took of at a sprint, chanting the whole way, "Please make it! Please!"

Caterpie bounced up and down on her trainer's head, squealing happily.

Suddenly Rini skidded to a stop before the gym doors. Brock was there just unlocking his doors. He chuckled at the young girl's actions.

"Did I make it?! I'm not late am I?!" Rini gasped out, as she tried to catch her breath.

"Actually you're a little early." Brock patted Caterpie. "You look like your gonna collapse any second. Come in and have something to drink. I'll get things set up and we can have our battle."

"Thanks." she followed the gym leader in and took the seat her offered her in his small office. A glass of juice was thrust into her hands.

"That's all I have besides water. I hope that's alright?"

"Sure, it's fine. I love juice." the girl gulped down the juice so quickly she almost choked.

"Careful." Brock warned, patting her on the back. "When your finished we'll battle. Is two apiece fine with you?"

"Yea!" Rini nodded vigirously. "Lead the way Mr. Brock."

"Just Brock please." he winced slightly.

"Ok Brock please." Rini stuck out her tongue, and Brock groaned in annoyance.

"Follow me."

He led her down a long hallway into a large area, and flicked on the lights. They gym was covered in rocks and boulders, and had an area on eith side for the trainers to stand.

Brock went to the far end, and Rini stood closest to the door. She thought over several options, deciding Oddish was her best shot because rock types were weak to grass moves.

"Let's go Geodude!" Brock released something that looked like a small boulder with arms.

"Geodude huh?" Rini pulled out her pokedex.

"Geodude, the rock pokemon. People are known to trip over them when exploring mountainous areas. Despite it's size Geodude are very strong."

"Alright then." Rini smiled, and pulled a pokeball from her pocket. "Against Geodude I'll use.... Pidgey!"

"Bad move." Brock grinned. "Flying types are weak against rock types."

"Maybe." Rini smirked. "We'll see."

Geodude and Pidgey squared off, eack sizing the other up.

"Begin." Brock smiled.

@Rii -Nie post, however I do have one question.

"Actually you're a little early." Brock patted Caterpie. "You look like your gonna collapse any second. Come in and have something to drink. I'll get things set up and we can have our battle."

Surely Brock would eact ore to a shiny golden Caterpie? I meran I'd be like: "Oh my god, it's a shiny golden Caterpie!" and then pet it... no? just me? okay then... random point over :)

Warren blinked as he emerged from the cave, leaning heavily on Beedrill's back. He hoped that the route to Cerulean City was short - he couldn't exactly move at high speeds and his newest teammate was injured enough that he was actively looking for a Pokecenter. He rubbed his eyes against the harsh sunlight and that was when he heard the cry behind him of
"Saaaaaaand!" He glanced over his shoulder and standing there, looking a little angry, was a Sandshrew. Warren, unsure of why it was so annoyed, backed away slowly, then stopped as his foot brushed something, an egg, he realised as he looked down. That would explain why it was being so aggressive.
"Okay, no problems, I'm leaving." Warren sighed as he stepped away. Unfortunately, as he stepped back, his foot accidentally came into contact with the egg. And mothers do not like their unborn babies being kicked.
"Sandshrew!" the Pokemon cried as it leapt forwards, its claws glowing a faint purple. It twisted around and jabbed at Warren with them, but he just missed most of the attacks through sheer luck. As the Sandshrew landed on the ground, it cried out again and suddenly, there were Sandshrew everywhere. Sneaking out of bushes or from behind rocks, the all slowly advanced on Warren, who scrabbled at his belt.
"Come on, Poliwag, use Bubble!" he called and the small Tadpole fired stream after stream of the tiny blue spheres. Time and time again the Sandshrew fell back, only to pick them selves up and continue their advance. Beedrill was slowly pulling Warren away, but at this rate, they would soon be caught. Then, Warren had a stroke of inspiration. Reaching over to a nearby tree, he picked a fallen branch off the floor and slowly began to walk without Beedrill's support.
"Now, Poliwag, get on Beedrill's back! And Beedrill, use String shot to tie up these fools!" The two Pokemon attacked as ordered and slowly, Warren and the others began to inch their way towards Cerulean city. As their distance from the nest increased, the Sandshrew gradually began to slip away as the threat to their eggs became less and less certain. Eventually, he reached the city boundaries. Grinning, he returned Beedrill and was about to return Poliwag when he heard a growl. Not all of the Sandshrew had gone, then. One slowly revealed itself from its hiding place behind a rock near to the city. It stepped forwards, teeth bared. Warren sighed - he was beginning to wonder if there would be one Pokémon left in the world who actually liked him by the end if his journey...

Gym Battle part 2

( That is a good point. But well... you'll see. ^__~ )

"Geodude tackle!"

Caterpie sparkled, and Brock twitched slightly.

"Pidgey dodge....." Rini started.

Geodude missed.

"Huh?" Rini gawked. Maybe Geodude's timing was off?

"Pidgey! Sand attack!" Rini ordered next.

Pidgey flew down close to the ground and flapped his wings very quickly, stiring up a lot of sand right in Geodude's face.

Caterpie hopped up and down at Rini's feet, and seemed to shine as bright as the sun.

Brock almost droped one of his pokeballs. His eyes narrowed as he tried to maintain focus.

Rini hesitated when Brock didn't attack again. "......Pidgey tackle."

Pidgey flew in through the sand that was still stirred up and rammed Geodude. He then took a step back, rubbing his sore head with a wing.

Oddish took one look from Brock to Rini, then Brock to Geodude and grinned evily. She had wondeed why all she received from the stoic gym leader earlier was a pat on the head.

He had tried and failed apparently not to seem impresed by the shiny golden Caterpie. His stone like expression set firmly in place at all times.

"Caterpie, where are you going?" Rini asked as her Caterpie took off across the gym and towards the gym leader.

Brock froze up.

When Caterpie made it to Brock she smiled and rubbed her head against his leg.

Brock finally broke. He bent down and scooped up the golden Caterpie into his arms. "How did you catch her? Shiny pokemon are very rare, and one has to be very lucky just to run into one."

"Shiny?" Rini asked. "You mean that gold color? I thought there was something wrong with her."

Brock almost fell over. "In any case. You Rini are very lucky. I didn't want to say much earlier, because as gym leaders we are supposed to treat everyone the same..... but I am glad to have gotten the chance to meet your Caterpie."

Rini smiled. "Same here."

"Shall we resume our battle then?"

"Why not."

Caterpie decided to stay perched upon Brocks shoulder to watch the show.

''Sneasel, were here, Pewter city Gym.'' A young man stood infront of the large doors that gave entry to the gym.
His army trousers were somewhat dirty and his white shirt looked spotless, around his neck was a little necklace with a dogtag, it showed his name, ''Andy''.

Next to him a witty looking Sneasel stood, he was playing with a rock, slicing and cutting in it with his sharp Claws.
He also had a dogtag with his name, ''Sneasel'', on it.

''What do you mean I cant fight Brock...?'' Andy said while scratching his head.

''Well, Brock is in a dual with a rooky trainer, but if you want you could watch, but I do not know if Brock is able to fight you after this battle.'' The guard in his blue uniform said.

''Well, ok let us in then.'' Andy Sighted.

''You can watch on the balcony, just follow the green arrows to the left.'' the guard said while opening the big doors.

''Yaya.'' Andy said while waving his hand.

Andy followed the green arrows with Sneasel following his trainer.
''Here is it Sneasel, the balcony.'' Andy opened the door and he saw Brock, and the trainer.

Brock was holding a Very bright Catterpie, it looked like it was gold or something, but it could also be the light reflecting on his buggy skin.

"Shall we resume our battle then?" Brock said.

The pidgey that landed on a rock spread his wings.
''Pidge, pidgee!''

Geodude clapped in his hands and took on a fighting possition.
''Dude, Geodude!''

It was almost if they were insulting each other.
Sneasel watched the battle start while Andy leaned against the wall, scrolling in his Pokedex.

''Observe their moves Sneasel, you're going to face them sooner or later, so be ready.''

Gym Battle part 3

Rini felt a little envious Caterpie was with Brock and not her, but she also felt flattered he'd complemented her..... to an extent.

"Pidgey, take to the skies!" Rini pointed straight up.

Pidgey flew up into the rafters.

"Don't think you can hide him from Geodude like that." Brock grinned. "Get up into the rafters!"

"Dude." Geodude nodded. The rock pokemon then climbed very quickly, despite it being a hunk of rock into the rafters after Pidgey.

"Darn...." Rini muttered to herself.

"Gym battles aren't like regular battles. You can't just order your pokemon to do a few special tricks and expect to win." Brock replied, as if hearing her comment. "Use Tackle to knock Pidgey from the rafters!"

"Dude!" Geodude lept at the startled bird, who hadn't enough room to dodge.

Pidgey chirped in pain as he was knocked from his perch, and dropped toward the ground with Geodude holding him in place.

"Pidgey!" Rini yelled. "Break away!"

There was a loud thump as something hit the ground and the area was coated in sand and debris.

Brock and Rini waited for the dust to clear nerviously, to see the result of the battle.

Pidgey chirped, and as the dust cleared they could see he was sitting atop the Geodude, who was now burried in his own creater he'd created upon impact.

"He.... he knocked himself out?" Rini grinned.

Brock nodded, deep in thought. "Pidgey must have twisted their bodies around at the last second, so Geodude took damage instead."

"Dud... Geodude."

"Not quite." Brock grinned. "Geodude here is more resialent then you think. Defense curl Geodude!"

"Geo." the rock pokemon pushed up, knocking Pidgey from his perch atop his head. Then crossed his arms and focused his defense.

Both pokemon were breathing hard, but Rini knew Pidgey still had more to give.

"Sand attack!" Rini shouted suddenly. "Then hop onto one of the rocks in the field."

Pidgey kicked up a large amont of sand straight into Geodude's face, who was still working on his defense.

"Geodude!" the pokemon rubbed at his eyes to get the sand out.

"Tackle it from behind!" Rini yelled, once her pokemon was in position.

"Geodude dodge!"

Pidgey used the rock he was sitting on to push off more quickly and boost his Tackle to a greater speed.

Geodude had turned slightly to dodge, when he was hit in the side and both pokemon rolled over each other before coming to a sudden stop upon hitting a large rock in the field.

Pidgey chirped in pain as he took the brunt of the hit.

Geodude looked dizzy now, as if it would collapse soon.

"Pidgey return!" Rini yelled, and Brock looked surprised. "Time to get my Caterpie some experence. Get em' Caterpie!"

Caterpie did a small cheer upon Brock's head and lept down into the battle. She circled around Geodude slowly.

"Tackle Caterpie Geodude!"

Geodude lunged forward, but was slowed down by his earlier injuries.

"String shot!" Rini yelled. "Wrap it around Geodude's arm."

Caterpie nodded, and dodged out of the way of Geodude's tackle. The she used her string shot to catch the pokemon's arm as he went by.

Geodude tugged but it did no good.

"Now sling him at that rock!" Rini yelled.

"Geodude! Get away!" Brock yelled.

It turned out to be too late as the golden Caterpie snapped her head to the side and Geodude flew into the rock.

Geodude struggled to stand, then finally collapsed.

"Yay we did it!" Rini yelled, while Caterpie hopped up and down in excitement.

"Not yet." Brock grinned. "I still have Onix. Go!"

''Sneasel ! Sneas!'' Sneasel pointed exiting towards the little caterpie.

''Yes I see, its a strong critter.-'' Andy nodded. ''-And being shiny boosts the power of that certain Pokemon.

Andy rose its Pokedex and oploaded some info about Shiny Pokemon.
''This is a battle to enjoy.''Andy said, Sneasel nodded.

Sorry to disturb the RP, you guys, but...

Gym Battle Part 4

Caterpie stared up at the large.... very large pokemon before her. She trembled slightly, turned and ran back to Rini.

"Hey what are you doing Caterpie?" Rini asked as she hid in her backpack. She pulled the pokemon out. "I know it looks tough, but I also know you can do it." she smiled.

Caterpie looked up at her for a few minutes, then finally nodded. She got back in place before the powerful Onix.

Brock didn't know wheather to laugh or lecture. This obviously had to be a joke.

Caterpie vs Onix?

Rini noticed the gym leaders confused look. "Don't worry so much Brock. I know what I'm doing." she looked over Onix. "Mostly...." she muttered to herself.

"Onix, bind it!" Brock ordered.

Onix slithered around Caterpie, and begin closing in on the helpless bug. All of a sudden Onix stopped and looked confused. He'd wrapped his body around the Caterpie, but she was too small to be fully captured by the attack.

"String shot!"

Caterpie spit string all over the Onix's face, making Onix shake his large head to be rid of the sticky stuff.

"I see now." Brock looked thoughtful. "A smaller target is more difficult to hit. Good stratigy. Not good enough though. Onix screech!"

Caterpie bent over in pain as Onix's screech attack blew over her. She didn't look like she felt to well.

"Caterpie, get lose and use string shot all over Onix's body!" Rini ordered as an idea suddenly came to mind.

Caterpie shot some string to the side of Onix's body and latched on. She then pulled and swung around the large pokemon's body wrapping him up in her string shot where she could.

"Caterpie return!" Rini called, once she was sure Onix was well coated. "Go Pidgey!" she once more called out the bird.

"Onix, Rock Tomb!" Brock called next, as his Onix was freeing himself of the sticky mess.

"Pidgey dodge it!"

Pidgey dodged most of the rocks, but one managed to bonk him on the head. Pidgey shook his head slightly to clear away the stars.

"Tackle it quickly Onix!" Brock yelled as he saw an opening.

"Pidgey! Fly straight up!"

The bird looked at her confused. There was a celing there.

"Trust me!" Rini yelled. "Quickly, go!"

Pidgey flew straight up, with Onix quickly closing from behind as he streatched his huge body up after the bird to tackle it.

"Do a loop Pidgey!"

Pidgey's eyes widened as he finally understood.

Onix's head smashed through the rafters and the metal roof of the gym as Pidgey close to hitting the cealing looped over and around.

"Yes! Way to go Pidgey!" Rini cheered as Pidgey flew down to her.

"Onix, bind that Pidgey." Brock looked slightly annoyed. "........Onix?"

Onix tugged, then tugged harder. The sticky string shot from Caterpie earlier was holding him in place, and it didn't look like he was going anywhere soon.

"Pidgey tackle it." Rini pointed up near Onix's neck.

Pidgey flew quickly at Onix and shoed his head hard to the side. Onix came lose along with a lot of the celing and a few rafters.

"Pidgey, fly back to me!" Rini called.

"Onix!" Brock yelped as the pokemon was knocke repeatedly over the head.

Onix fell to the floor with swirled out eyes and a large bump on his head.

Rini grinned.

"Poliwag, use Hypnosis!" Warren ordered and Poliwag complied, leaping off Beedrill's back with the swirl on its abdomen spinning around in a hypnotising manner. Sandshrew's eyes slowly began to close, but then, before they did, it held an arm up in front of its face. With the offending spiral blocked from its view, Sandshrew started to shake off its sleepiness.
"Use bubble while its still tired!" Warren shouted and Poliwg complied, loosing a stream of bubbles into Sandshrew's face. The ground type staggered back, severely weakened. Poliwag didn't let up though and quickly defeated the Sandshrew. The entire battle lasted less than two minutes. Warren briefly toyed with the idea of capturing Sandshrew, but if it had been defeated that easily, it couldn't exactly be strong. Yawning, he turned towards Cerulean City and grinned a little before raising his impromptu walking stick and setting off again. His next Gym badge was here and he had every intention of winning it!

@Alipeewee - Nice post.

Congratulations Poliwag grew to Level 11

( What about my battle with Brock. You didn't say anything, and I finally finished it. )

(There's a little pond in Cerulean City, though. Would we be able to catch Pokemon if we had a fishing rod? I'd like to catch my Shiny Magikarp now please. Sorry for Posting OOC here, but my post is the last post on the OOC board and double posting is against the rules.)

Kairi had finually finished crying by the time she reached Cerulean City.

"Pika? Chu?" Pikachu asked her. "Don't worry Pikachu I'll be ok. And I know Ratatta will be as well. But right now we gotta work on your Contest moves."

Pikachu nodded his head. Kairi went over to the Pokemon Center to see if she could make some Pokeblock and Poffins. After she had made them, she put them down in front of her Pokemon.

They sniffed them, and turned up there noses backing away,"What's the matter? There good see," Kairi said picking up a Pokeblock and Poffin and sticking them in her mounth. Her face turned green as she spit them back up,"Ah! Awful!"

Her Pokemon nodded there heads,"You don't have to agree with me you know," Kairi told them, as she scratched her head. She couldn't figure out what she did wrong she checked the recipe again,"Oh no! I forgot to add Bluk Berries to the Pokebloack, and I also forgot the Cheri Berry in the Poffin!" Kairi sighed,"I'm never going to be a good Coordinator at this rate, if I can't even make good enough, Pokeblock and Poffins," Kairi sighed. She looked disapointed.

"But I won't give up, until I make the perfect Pokeblock and the perfect Poffin!" Kairi said, real deturnied like. But she had tried five different times and still couldn't get it right. But just then she got an idea. She pulled out ingradents for Pies. She then made a Poffin Pie and a Pokeblock Pie. Even though they weren't Pokeblocks and Poffins they had them in them. One was full of Poffins and the other full of Pokeblock.

Before adding the top part on she put in a little surgar on top of the berries in both pies. She then, got a room in the Pokemon Center. Her and her Pokemon went up to the room.

Once there Kairi put the Pies in the oven, to let them cook for 2hrs.

***

Once they were done she took them out. They smelled very good. Her Pokemon smelled the air and started licking their lips. Kairi cut out each of her Pokemon a little bite of Poffin Pie and some of the Pokeblock Pie.

Her Pokemon smelled the food, and then ate it up right away. They really loved the pies,"Alright! I did it!" Kairi cheered,"I knew pies would be the right way to go."

"Nurse Joy?" Warren called as he stumped into the Pokemon Centre, his stick under his arm and his Pokeballs in his hand. No sooner had he shouted, than she was walking into the room.
"Would you like me to take your Pokemon to be healed?" She said in that weird, almost animatronic voice that seemed to characterise all of the Nurse Clone things. Warren nodded, handing over the balls.
"Are there any...people doctors around here?" he asked wincing as he shifted his weight slightly. Nurse Joy stood motionless for a minute, then replied:
"Would you like me to take your Pokemon to be healed?" Warren scratched his head.
"You just did, nurse. What I asked was, are there any doctors for humans that you know of?"
Nurse Joy blinked, then answered once again:
"Would you like me to take your Pokemon to be healed?" Warren sighed, unsure of whether this was creepy or hilarious.
"Never mind," he muttered, "I'll just find something at the Pokemart..." With that, he turned and slowly limped out of the automatic doors and towards the shop. Fortunately, the clerk was both male and human, unlike Nurse Joy, which made the entire process both less and more awkward, but a lot more productive. About ten minutes after going in, Warren exited the shop with a large amount of cotton wool, soaked in Potion, stuffed down the front of his trousers. Needless to say, he attracted plenty of strange glares as he walked back to the Centre, a bag of five newly obtained Pokeballs clenched in his fist. Warren was still getting over how expensive they were. $200 each! Luckily, Warren had quite a knack for sleight of hand, so he hadn't had to actually pay for all of them. To be exact, he hadn't had to pay for any of them. He had paid similarly exorbitant prices for the Potion that was currently giving him the look of a person with a weak bladder, so it evened out...sort of. Tiredly, Warren entered the Pokemon Centre. Nurse Joy was standing there with his Pokeballs on a tray in her hands. Warren sighed, then took the Pokeballs, completely unsurprised when Nurse Joy continued to stand there with no reaction whatsoever. Leaning over, he unhooked one of the room keys from underneath the desk, but (being Warren) he took the opportunity of having an unresponsive Joy to ogle her a bit. When he'd finished standing there with a happy, yet quite scary look on his face, he wandered back through to the corridor with the rooms leading off it. As far as he could tell, most of the rooms were unoccupied and Warren decided that the room number on the keyring didn't really matter, so he headed straight for a rather luxurious suite at the end with a sign on the door that clearly said:

V.I.P.S ONLY.
NO UNAUTHORISED ACCESS.

At least, it said that until he flipped the sign over. As far as Warren was concerned, that made it all legal and fine. This was going to be fun when he woke up...

@Rii - Sorry, Here you go:

Congratulations Pidgey grew to Level 9
Congratulations Caterpie grew to Level 8, Caterpie can now evolve to Metapod.

@Konekodemon -Pies... very unique

@Alipeewee - VIP? Finally things are looking up for Warren!

Rini called her pokemon from their pokeballs. "Come out Oddish and Caterpie." she then began to hop up and down. "We beat Brock! Yay!"

Pidgey flew down to land on the happy go lucky girl's shoulder, and chirped his approival.

Rini then picked up Caterpie and swung her around. "It's all because of you."

Caterpie grinned and nodded happily, then seemed to jerk in Rini's arms.

"Is something wrong Caterpie?" Rini asked worridly, as the small bug tilted her head up and began to spit silk over herself.

Needless to say Rini placed her down.

Pidgey and Oddish came closer to watch.

"Hey!" Brock smiled. "Your Caterpie is evolving."

"Really?" Rini grinned. "That's great. Way to go."

"Metapod metapod..." her newely evolved pokemon grinned as well.

Warren leapt out of bed as an ear-splitting screech filled the room.
"WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?" someone shouted. Warren opened his eyes to find a girl standing there, her hands on her hips and a terrifying glare on her face. Warren yawned a little.
"Hmmmmm?" he 'said' which was really about the best he could manage.
"This room is for VIPs only!" the girl spat, "VIPs like ME, the Gym Leader! Not just for any random flea-ridden hobo who feel like taking the reserved room!" Warren didn't say anything for a moment, trying desperately to resist an urge to slap her. Then something she'd said sunk in.
"Wait, you're the Gym Leader? Alright then, I'm gonna take your badge!" She stepped back a little, smiling.
"So you're going to battle me in your underwear, huh?" Warren glanced down, remembering too late that he'd only slept in his pants last night.
"Tighty whities? Really?" The girl smirked, then spun on her heel and walked out the door. Warren was fuming with anger and embarrassment. He'd decided - he wasn't just going to beat her, he was going to humiliate her!

Less than an hour later...

"The Gym battle between Warren Simmons, the challenger and Misty Waterflower, the Gym Leader, will now begin! Each trainer will use two Pokemon and both trainers may make substitutions at any time, if they so wish. Now, Warren, Misty, release your first Pokemon!"
Warren yawned as the referee recited the rules.
"It wasn't all so official at Brock's gym..." he muttered and Misty smirked.
"That's because Brock is a little outside the norm. He's been up before the Pokemon League several times after trainers complained about him disregarding regulations." Warren grinned. Brock had taken the entire Gym Battle pretty lightly. Then, Mist stepped forwards, towards the large basin of water that was the battlefield. A small island floated in the middle and rafts dotted the surface.
"Let's go, Staryu!" Misty cried and an orange, star-shaped Pokemon with no visible face but a red core burst out of the ball. Despite not having any wings or jet engines, it floated several inches above the surface of the water, slowly rotating. Warren grinned. This would be easy - Staryu didn't even have any eyes!
"Alright, Mankey, time for your first proper battle!" he shouted and released the small primate. It landed on the central island, pumped up and ready for action.
"Staryu, use Water Gun!" Misty ordered and it immediately fired a jet of water out of its central core. Mankey cart wheeled to the right, but the jet clipped its foot and sent it tumbling into the pool. It bobbed up a second later, coughing and spluttering. It was struggling to get out though - its sodden fur weighed a huge amount and Mankey couldn't quite pull itself back onto the island.
"Follow up with Rapid Spin!" Misty ordered and Staryu set itself horizontal to the floor, then shot forwards, spinning like a top.
"Dive Mankey!" Warren shouted and instantly, it released its hold on the side. Staryu skimmed its ears as it sank beneath the water, having to brake sharply to avoid hitting Warren.
"Errr...Mankey?" he called concernedly, but there was no response. Oops.
"Staryu, help it out!" Misty shouted, clearly trying not to laugh. Staryu plunged into the pool and after a few tense minutes, burst up through the surface once again, Mankey draped across its back. Floating a little slower now, it approached Warren and dumped the unconscious Pokémon at his feet. Warren poked it with his toe a little, to make sure it was still breathing, then returned it. What to do next though? Mankey's problem was its fur...it couldn't handle the water...Poliwag would be able to, but Beedrill could fly...but what if its wings got wet?...that could be the end of it...But, Poliwag only knows bubble, a water type move....Warren ground his knuckles against his temples, then stood forwards once again.
"Beedrill, it's all down to you! Start with String Shot!" Beedrill burst from the ball, its abdomen raised. It immediately fired a long sticky fibre from its stinger, but Staryu countered with Rapid Spin, shredding the thread before it could entangle it.
"Try Fury Attack!" Warren ordered desperately. Beedrill darted forwards with its stingers and Staryu countered with Harden. The giant spears bounced off like rubber balls.
"Time to fight back, Staryu - use Water Gun!" Misty calmly said and Beedrill was immediately hit with a jet of water that pummelled it to the ground, almost into the water.
"Beeeeeeeee..." it croaked, struggling to its feet. But Misty wouldn't let it.
"Harden again, then Tackle!" she called and the Star Shape Pokémon stiffened up, then charged forwards and knocked the weakened Beedrill over, unconscious. Warren blanched. He'd lost. Growling, he returned his Beedrill and stepped backwards, away from the arena as the Referee shouted:
"Warren has no Pokémon remaining. The victory goes to Misty!" Ignoring the ref, Warren called to Misty who was now grinning rather smugly.
"I'm gonna come straight back here, you know! And I'm gonna keep battling you until I win!" Misty just laughed.
"Please do come back soon!" she shouted, her voice dripping with insincerity. "I do adore beating people with complete ease, over and over again!"

Laura awoke to a moist nose pushing under her arm. She turned over, but she felt something tugging at the blanket on her. Yawning, she looked blearily around the room until her eyes fell on her pokemon, who was staring intently at her like she was trying to tell her something.

"Vulpix? For a second I thought that everything that had happened yesterday was just a dream...." She smiled at the fox-like Pokemon, but Vulpix continued her stare and even tugged on her sleeve impatiently. "Oh, that's right. We were going to get up early and go over to the Trainer House before we left Viridian!" She jumped out of bed and got dressed, almost forgetting to get some breakfast.

"Vul?" her Pokemon asked, a little concerned at her behavior.

"Don't worry," Laura assured her. "I'm just a little nervous because this'll be our first battle since Jimmy yesterday. I hope that things will go smoother this time." Also, though she didn't want to admit it to Vulpix, she was still a little jumpy after seeing herself on the news last night and worried that she'd run into someone who knew her well enough to recognize her. "Now come on. Let's get some breakfast before it's all gone." At the mention of food, Vulpix happily followed her trainer.

While eating, she looked over the notes she'd taken yesterday and discovered something written on the back, which she read to Vulpix, "I'm really sorry about how the other kids treated you and hope that the rest of your Pokemon journey goes a lot better. Alex."

Sighing, she commented, "It sounds like he's guessed that I'm a brand-new trainer... Is it really that obvious? Oh, well. He was really nice to me." Seeing as how she had a whole notebook that was nearly empty, she decided to keep a journal for her entire journey and started by recorded the events of yesterday. I might as well.... It might end at any time,
so maybe if I write it all down, I'll be able to cherish every minute of it when I'm back home...

A little while later, they headed to the Trainer House, where they met one of the last people they expected to see. "Y-you're Alex!" Laura stammered, gaping a little at the boy before she remembered to shut it.

"That's right," he said, smiling at her and Vulpix. "So this is your Pokemon. She look's pretty strong. How about a battle?

"Uh... Sure," she answered after her Pokemon nodded with approval. Vulpix stepped forward and put her "battle face" on, growling threateningly.

"Yeah, she's a fighter alright, but I bet she can't take Meowth on. Go get her, Meowth!" He threw his pokeball forward, and what popped out looked pretty much like a cream-colored cat, who seemed more interested in cleaning her face with her paw than battling. Confused, Vulpix looked back at Laura for an explanation, but she shrugged, even more perplexed than her Pokemon.

"You two really need to keep your minds on the battle!" Alex shouted suddenly. "Meowth, use your Scratch!" As soon as that command was given, the passive-looking cat turned into a hissing, scratching nightmare, charging straight at Vulpix and scratching her painfully across her nose. Now Vulpix was angry. She could stand a lot of things, but the nose was a tender place to be scratched, and she was going to have her revenge. Both trainer shifted uncomfortably as the room seemed much warmer than before.

"Vulpix, use Ember!" Laura ordered, and Vulpix answered with, "Vulpix vul!" which probably meant something like "Gladly!" She released bolts of fire at the Meowth, who tried to dodge but was hit hard, knocking her to the ground. Unlike the other times that Ember was used, Meowth still seemed to be in pain after the attack was over, and Laura gasped when she realized the truth. The Pokemon had the status ailment called burn and was slowly losing health. "Now's our chance. Use Ember again!"

"Not so fast!" Alex retorted. "Meowth, we need to finish this fast! Use Bite!" Jumping over the Ember, Meowth bit down on Vulpix's pride and joy, her tails. Uh oh... If that Meowth ever lets go, she's dead. I guarantee it. Alex, who'd seen the sudden fire ignite in Vulpix's eyes as well, began to look a little nervous. "Uh, Meowth. Maybe you should've grabbed onto something else...." But it was too late.... The usually friendly and fairly easy-going Vulpix was out for blood.... almost literally.

"Vulpix!" she shouted in pain and rage, slamming her opponent against the floor, but the Meowth stubbornly- or stupidly- held on. "Use Roar!" Laura offered, eager to end the battle, so hopefully, Vulpix would calm down. At her fierce Roar, Meowth immediately let go and tried to run away, but Vulpix scorched her with another Ember, causing her to faint, and she would've kept on punishing Meowth, but Laura quickly put her to her pokeball. "It's alright. It's alright. She didn't mean to make you so upset. Calm down," she assured Vulpix as the pokeball started to rumble and shake, sighing in relief when it became still again.

"I guess I was right. Vulpix really is quite the fight, especially if you get on her bad side," Alex laughed, shaking Laura's hand. Sighing a little, he added, "Well, I'm off to start my own journey. Hope we battle again!" He waved and left the building.

With Vulpix source of fury out of the picture, Laura released her from her pokeball. "Well, I'm always going to treat your tails with the utmost respect," she joked as they headed toward Route 2.

(OOC: I think Meowth got off kind of lucky because if Vulpix was already a Ninetails, she might've laid a thousand-year curse on her XD. Anyway, just a word of advice... Never even think about messing with a Vulpix's tails. ;))
