(Man...I have no idea how to get Sean to explain Kairi's dissapearence...but still, I'll get on with the Gym battle post)
Both Lt. Surge and Sean were making devious eye contact with each other, both of their eyes were challenging, and Sean's hands were both clenched up into fists by the side of his pockets, while Lt. Surge felt no fear at all, with his hands on his hips. Now was the time to start, so firstly, Lt. Surge revealed his first Pokemon, which Sean knew what it was anyway, after the time on the S.S. Anne. Lt. Surge grabbed the PokeBall from his pocket and swung his arm out. "Raichu! Show them what you've got!" he was looking very devious and cunning, as Gym Leaders normally do, but Sean found something more difficult in Lt. Surge than he did with Brock and Misty. Raichu was released from the round PokeBall, and then made a challenging screech, as if it were ready for anything, even whatever Pokemon Sean was about to send out. Sean could see that Raichu was one bulky, tough Electric type that would send his Zubat and Horsea flying, so he chose the obvious choice, and the possibly bestest one he could have made, Growlithe. Sean digged into his pocket, searchign around for the PokeBall that contained his Growlithe, that was surely going to amaze him and Lt. Surge. "Growlithe! Do your best!" Sean then launched the PokeBall over to the battlefield, with Raichu waiting to see its opponent, which was sure to look like nothing to it, but Growlithe was sure more than Raichu would bargain for. Once Growlithe was out, Raichu had just stared at it, still looking ready and energetic, as Growlithe was the same, wagging its creamy coloured tail side to side. "Let's get this battle started!" Lt. Surge had commanded, wanting to get this battle started.
Both of the two Pokemon were on their position on the battlefield, both looking competetive with the same facial expression and body language, each on their four legs, and tails wagging. Lt. Surge was smiling, with his teeth showing, ready to sneak the first move. "Let's do it, Raichu! Show 'em your Quick Attack!" Lt. Surge ordered his stubborn looking Raichu, who was listening closely. Lt. surge had chose a good move, whick had made Growlithe less likely to dodge as Quick Attack is a fast one, but it did not mean that Sean could not dodge it. Raichu started to brush its feet against the ground, as if it were a bull, then zoomed off on to Growlithe. With no thinking at all, Sean wanted to get Growlithe out of the way, fast. "Jump out of the way, Growlithe!" Growlithe had listened, as Growlithe had wathed Raichu get fater and faster. When Raichu was really close, Growlithe had hopped across to the right side and dodged Raichu's speedy attack, causing Raichu to keep going without being able to stop, and then crashed directly into a wall. Lt. Surge got more than he bargained for with Sean and his Growlithe, even though growlithe hadn't even attacked yet, of course until now. Growlithe had leaped back into its position, looking tough, and eyes focusing on Raichu. "Show Raichu your Bite, Growlithe!" Sean decided to use his more straight-forward attack as Bite was more of a better way to get Growlithe heated up. With a fast response, Growlithe had started to leap once, getting its speed boosted, and then went off on all of its four legs. Raichu was not so ready, and had only just turned around to notice Growlithe running over towards it, causing Raichu to make a panic reaction. While Raichu was panicking, Growlithe was close enough to open its mouth, with all of its sharp teeth showing and ready to attack. So, Raichu had then tripped over its tail, as Growlithe had then took a jump on top of the Raichu, who embarassed Lt. Surge. Even though Raichu was not knocked out yet, and not even close, Lt. Surge did not like being shown up.
"Nice moves, kid, I'll give you that one, but this battle only just started, and it's only just about to get really really started!" Lt. Surge tried to get Sean worried, but it didn't work at all. Infact, Sean just got more and more confident as Lt. Surge got more witty in his voice expressions. Sean decided to snatch this move, and tried to get this battle going again. "Now then, Growlithe, use your Ember attack!" now Sean had chosen Growlithe's main attack, as it would highlight the main event of the battle if Raichu were to get burned. After the last Bite attack, Raichu was rather angry and started to sweat, as if it were ready to pack a strong force in its next attack. However, since Raichu was not concentrated on Growlithe much, this was put to Sean's advantage. Growlithe had charged up the burning flare in its mouth, and tried to aim it at Raichu, who was struggling to get Growlithe, even though it wasn't confused, it was enraged. Growlithe had then unleashed the flare through the air, until it then hit Raichu across the face. This only got Raichu more and more angry, until it then started to let out a scream that lasted 2 seconds. Lt. Surge was also mad, as he looked like he did not want to lose at all. "Alright, I've watched this for long enough. Raichu, use your Mega Punch!" Raichu was strongly enraged, so its reactions were strong and fierce, yet still very quick. Growlithe was starting to get intimidated by the look in Raichu's eyes as it had charged up with intense speed. Sean didn't even get a chance to say a word to Growlithe, as Growlithe was hit too fast by Raichu's small yet tough paw. Growlithe was knocked far back, but this made things no easier at all. Raichu had started to calm down slightly, as Growlithe had started to get enraged as the knock hurt quite a bit. Now both of them were angry with each other, with eyes narrowed and eyebrows lowered and legs bouncing. Sean was still calm though, not trying to be as fierce as Lt. Surge was, but they were still confident on their Pokemon, but little did Sean know what was about to come...
Lt. Surge then beamed out his next command, which sounded like it would've been a hurtful one. "Raichu! Hit it with your Thundershock!" Sean did not like the sound of an Electric type move, as they had a paralyzing chance. All he did was cross his fingers that Growlithe would put up great effort now. Both of the Pokemon were giving each other evil looks, as Growlithe was sitting there, trying to wait for Raichu to strike its zap of lightning, but that was a bad idea. Raichu then stopped buzzing sparks from its red cheeks, and then released the thin zap of electricity in the direcition of Growlithe. Sean tried to force Growlithe out of the way of the zap, "Watch out!" Lt. Surge and Raichu then smiled, as the battle was starting to really get exciting for them, but for Sean it was starting to get tricky. Growlithe had no chance to move, and then got hit by the shock of electricity, and had got a really harsh effect. Growlithe was strongly hit, and because of that, Growlithe was sent to the ground, still conscious, but could barely move any of its limbs. This could only mean one thing, that Growlithe was paralyzed.
Sean was scared, but tried to think of something quick to fix Growlithe, but before he had thought of any of his remodies, it was too late, Lt. Surge had moved onto his most likely final command. "Ready to finish it off, Raichu? Use your strong Thunderbolt!" Sean knew that Thunderbolt would definetley be the stronger version of Thundershock, which had weakened Growlithe enough. Growlithe was still shaking on the ground, while Raichu was buzzing again, charging up a strong bolt of lightning. Sean had then thought of something that could possibly work. He had remembered about the red berries he had picked from the Vermilion Gate, which he thought could possibvly cure something, so this was worth a try for him. Raichu was nearly ready to unleash the strong bolt of lightning, but Sean had digged through the pocket in his bag, finding the bunch of small red berries in the pocket. He quickly pulled it out, and leant over to Growlithe. "Eat this, Growlithe." Growlithe took it off his fingers through its cream coloured mouth, and then chewed it slowly. Raichu had suddenly let go of the bolt of lightning, startling Sean and Growlithe. The Thunderbolt was heading through the air, thinking that now he could not lose, he was well into it and to lose now would mean he'd lose the close battle. Growlithe had fully opened its eyes, and went back on four of its legs, it was back to full health. Sean was delighted to see it, and then let out a quick command to make sure that the bolt of lightning wouldn't hit, as it would still cause the battle to end. "Quick! Avoid it!" Growlithe had spotted the bolt getting closer and closer, with Raichu, Lt. Surge and Sean watching with mouths open. Growlithe had then swiftly jolted to the side, avoiding the bolt by several millimeteres as it was too. Both Lt. Surge and Raichu had looked dissappointed as it was too close for them, and if that bolt had hit they would have won.
So the battle had continued, Lt. Surge wanted to give his attack another shot, so he did just so. "Raichu, try Thunderbolt again!" he wouldn't quit now, as if this battle had meant a huge lot to him now, but it meant a whole lot more to Sean as Raichu was a huge challenge for his Growlithe. Raichu was angry, and charged up yet another bolt of thunder while sparking small yellow sparks out of its red cheeks. Growlithe was looking confident again, and looked more stronger as if it were ready to take a hit, but Sean had another plan in mind. Raichu had charged up the bolt of lightning a great amount of electricity, so Sean had decided to use his plan now. "Growlithe! Use Leer!" Lt. Surge wondered what exactly Leer would do to stop Raichu from winning the battle, and raised one of his eyebrows. Growlithe had then pointed its eyes over to Raichu, and then gave a terrible look of scorn with its mouth growling and all of its white teeth showing. Raichu had looked, and felt distressed by the mad look, and got distracted aiming the bolt of lightning. As a shock, Raichu vaulted the Thunderbolt in any direction, hoping that Growlithe would be hit, but it was miles off. Sean had smiled, as Growlithe stopped the look, and just sat back down in its alert position, as the bolt had hit Lt. Surge on accident. This had enfuriated him, and he yelled out at large volume. Sean and Growlithe were smiling, Sean trying not to burst out laughing as Raichu was looking sorry and let down. Lt. Surge looked grey, and very angry as if he was going to hit something. Sean took this chance to end the battle, once and for all. "Growlithe! Finish it off with your Ember attack! Make it a good one!" Sean ordered, as Growlithe had totally followed him. Raichu wondered what to do, as Growlithe opened its mouth, chargin up a flame sphere that was growing by the second. Lt. Surge was looking annoyed, and did not command anything to Raichu at all, infact, he didn't care. The flame was unleashed from Growlithe's mouth, and through the air, with Raichu looking in both directions and just stared at the ball of fire, approaching it by the second, until it finally had reached Raichu and made a massive shot. This shot was hugely accurate, and Raichu could not take any more of it, leaving Sean and Growlithe victorious.
"Way to go Growlithe! You did amazing!" Sean stroked Growlithe across the creamy fur on its head, as Lt. Surge just growled, returned Raichu and threw the badge across the Gym and towards Sean, who caught it with the tips of his fingers. Lt. Surge just storned back into the private room, leaving Sean to go. So he just did that, right after returning Growlithe in his PokeBall. Once he walked out of the door, he grinned and walked back into the city.
