Bugs/glitches have been a pretty noticeable part of some of the games in the series, particularly the first and second generations where it was possible to do things like cloning items or Pokémon, and even encounter weird 'Pokémon' like MissingNo.

What was your favorite glitch to take advantage of? :')

I only ever did the MissingNo glitch once and that was just to see if what the other kids in school were saying was even real =P

The Mew glitch is my favorite. I was quite shocked to find out that obtaining Mew was possible in RBY, and it didn't involve trucks at all!

I was really obsessed with glitches and easter eggs and such in video games as a kid for some reason. I never did it myself, only watched videos of people doing it, but the "tweaking" glitch in Diamond and Pearl was one I thought was super interesting. Although I did have a cheat option that allowed me to walk through walls, so technically I wouldn't have needed to go through the effort of hitting those specific tiles in Jubilife City. The black area of the screen, called Mystery Zone, uses a slightly different version of one of the route themes. This glitch is the main reason why I have "Sinnoh's Mystery Zone" as my "location" here on PC ;)

The tweaking glitch is probably my favorite as well! Coming from Gen III, all these crazy rumors to get Mythical Pokemon were at their peak, stuff like the white rock in Mossdeep allowing you to get Deoxys and Jirachi, or getting Mew from the truck in FireRed and LeafGreen the same way those rumors existed in the original Red and Blue, by doing a bunch of obscure, random steps. So when Diamond and Pearl came out it was so amazing seeing this stuff be actually realized in some way through the glitches of that game. Stuff like using surf in Aaron's room in the Pokemon League and then doing seemingly arbitrary steps in random directions in order to get to Newmoon Island for Darkrai or the Seabreak Path and Flower Paradise for Shaymin, or trigger the Arceus fight was on the same level as the kind of things people would have been making up all these years before, and that made the games feel so much more magical, like we were getting confirmation that the games were as big and had so many secrets as we thought they were and did while believing that stuff as kids.

Things like the all black Mystery Zone and the obscurity inherent to the glitches also fit perfectly with those games' more solemn and mystic tone, it's incredible they were all accidental.

I remember messing around with the tweaking glitch but I did screw up big time when doing it. The Mew glitch from gen 1 has to be my all time favorite because not only can it be used to get Mew, but other pokemon that might otherwise be impossible to obtain through regular gameplay. Like getting a jynx in Yellow, another eeveelution, a Hitmonlee with your Hitmonchan, or a Dragonite at level 7. Takes a while to set up but definitely fun to abuse.

There's also the badge boosting glitch in gen 1 which buffed all your stats up on using a buffing move like amnesia or swords dance (which goes away upon level up), and that helps making the e4 and champion much easier.

Finally the clone glitch in Emerald. There does exist one in gen 2, but Emerald's is more popular and easier to pull off in my opinion. Always did that so I could migrate my pokemon to later gens without losing them from my Emerald save file. You could also clone a whole box's worth of items like getting more TMs, master balls, one use items, berries, or rare candies.

I've only used the Missingno/other glitches that use that Cinnabar shoreline in gen 1, the trade duplication glitch in gen 2, and the Pokeball glitch in Colosseum. I haven't been as willing to risk my save data in later games.
