    Dont get confused by this poll. what i mean is would you spell certain words with a C or S?

    a few examples:

    LicenSe or LicenCe
    DefenSe or DefenCe
    PractiSe or PractiCe

    so would you spell it with a C or an S?

    i would spell those words with a S. always have done, always will.
     
    lt varies with me...I mean, In the US, there are specific ways to spell each one. They aren't very interchangeable.

    I sometimes get words like that mixed up alot, especially license because I always misspell it as you can see.
     
    Being of the British influence, I do tend to spell things differently to the American spelling. Slight exception with certain words that have gotten to become a habit to spell otherwise to what I was initially used to. In other words, I mostly spell "licence" as "license" and "defence" as "defense", though I also alternate between the variants very often. Otherwise I spell most of my words with a 'c' rather than an 's'.
     
    Just the right way. Which is why I get annoyed that we have to wait for Europe to translate, but we don't get "translated". You cannot understand how much the spelling "defense" annoys me, it actually hurt me putting in that "S" XD
     
    Being a British person, naturally, I spell all of them with a C.

    Thus words ending in ised/ized have the S instead of the Z.
    Colour (amongst other words) has the U.
    Words with ae/e are ae.
    Words with quer/cker are quer (as with chequered).
    Heck I would even ȝuse the Old/Middle Eȝlish þorn and ȝogh letters —like þis— but þat would only serve to hinder anyone trȝiȝ to undersand me; bit harder to read þis now isn't it?

    But there's the thing, there is no individual correct way to spell a lot of English words.

    I get confused with plenty of C/S words. x__x; Not those three. License, defense, practice. I get confused about stuff like...hmm..no idea at the moment. XD;

    Then I also get confused with I/E and their placement in words, such as, piece and all that. I know the whole "I before E, except after C and sometimes Y" thing, but when you're speeding through a two page essay with five minutes left of class, you sometimes forget the rule. XD
     
    I could never get license or incense straight. I always would put something like liscence or liscense, and the same problem happens with incense. I'd put sc's instead of just one letter. It's confusing for me. I usually spell words the typical american way, as in I say theater instead of theatre and checkered instead of chequered and color instead of colour.

    That's how I spell those words. I've seen defense spelled as defence before, but I honestly have never seen the other two end with the alternate.
     
    I used to get confused by those type of words alll the time, since they're spelled differently here in the US. But lately, especially in the past 8 or so months, I've started spelling words by their... rest-of-the-English-speaking-world spelling, like "Colour" versus "color" and such. It does make my grades go down, but it's just habit for me now XD;
     
    Meh, I use a variety of different spellings for each word.
    I have no idea why; sometimes I'll spell it, for example, "practice", and then one day I'll feel like "practise".

    I would usually try to spell it the correct way, though.
     
    usually when I'm uncertain about a word's spelling (if it's a c or an s), I usually put a C.

    Then again, I actually have great spelling. There are some words that get me stumped, though, like license. (to prove it, I typed that licence at first, and checked to see if it was right. XD;;) That word always confuses me.
