Call of Duty: Black Ops

I haven't played Multiplayer for a while, or at least properly gotten into it lately, but all my classes suck, and I hate them. I always want to change them but I can never think of anything better. I've got like, the AK-74u with Grip, some Sniper with the adjustable zoom, Silenced Famas, and two other classes which I can't think of right now. :x

I love the silenced Famas it works very well, but is kind of weak.

So since the double XP weekend started I thought I'd have a go at multiplayer for a while, and I had a surprisingly good run. I went with one of my older classes, an AUG with suppressor, and I had like, 10 kills before I died, and this was all in maybe 30 seconds. n_n It was so great, although most of them were either knife/grenade kills, but oh well. I was proud of myself when I managed to get that. d''d

Yeah, this double XP shtuff has been good to me. I'm pretty close to Prestige 7, all within these two days. I should definitely be getting there tomorrow.

Does anyone else have a problem with the AK74U? I feel like its a really "noobish" gun, which is why I try to stay away from using it.

Oh, and Kowloon is definetly the best map out of the new map pack, no doubt.

I can't stand it. Literally half the people in the game use it, too.
I honestly don't like that many of the guns in the game, they bore me. Thats why the only guns I use now are the Olympia and the Crossbow. If you ever want to have a challenge and have fun at the same time, thats the combination you should use. Its so much fun when you get people to rage quit over the Olympia (:

I can't seem to have fun with the Olympia. With only two shots, it's too risky to use... especially considering how inaccurate and unreliable most of these shotguns can be. I mean, I tend to use the Stakeout and SPAS, and I could be right in front of someone and only get a hitmarker. By the time I get that second shot off I'm already getting sprayed by little *****es who use the 74u.

I can see what your getting at. It depends mainly on comfortability with the weapon of choice. I personally just adapted my game by using Concussion Grenades more frequently, plus I like to go "Rambo" style and just jump around corners to get my Olympia aimed quick enough. Thats the only problem I have with the shotguns, its seems to me like I can't aim down the sights quick enough, even with Sleight of Hand Pro.

By the way, does anyone have any strategies on Berlin Wall or Stadium? I've played a few games on those maps but I never do well.

Yeah, when it comes to the Olympia I guess I'm just not comfortable with it, at least not enough to use it as a weapon of choice. Shame, cause I do find it pretty cool looking haha. :P

Berlin Wall, I tend to find a nice building to snipe from, generally the buildings that have a nice view of the center path between the two sides. That tend to be a pretty high traffic zone, especially in Domination or Headquarters for example. As for Stadium, I run and gun. I just make sure to constantly check my back, as the map tends to get pretty chaotic and people show up from pretty much anywhere. I avoid the center area too.

I honestly wish that they made shotguns a secondary again, I really do not like any of the secondary weapons. Most of the time, I usually just attach a Strela as my secondary :l

Last night, I had 559 kills and my mom made me quit.

Whenever I'm bored I just use Akimbo Scorpions/Crossbow/Tomahawk. I don't get all that many kills, but it's fun to use.

It being my leading cause of death, I'm obliged to agree.

I don't know about your console versions but on PC I also find the Commando used a lot. It's nothing special for all I can tell, which makes it rather strange to see so much... Maybe it's a 'skilled player' thing, you know, a way to be a total noob without appearing as such. Still, preferable to AK-74u spam.

You've got to be careful with shotguns, moreso than with other weapons. You want not to be in positions where you have a long line of sight, which inevitably paints you many places on a given map where you shouldn't go at all. The Olympia is admittedly something of a fun-gun, highly situational at best, so if you're trying to play seriously with it, you might better spend your time on another weapon.

If you want a more reliable spread: I always use steady aim with shotguns in BO, the way they spread now isn't the way it once used to be, and steady aim ensures the crosshairs you see are a close as possible representation of where your pellets are going.

Spam RPG w/ Scavenger and count the ragequitters. :D
But in all seriousness, you should probably keep the Strela. Not many people seem to carry them... A pistol is good to have to switch to when your main weapon needs reloading in a desperate situation, saved me a lot of times, but the Strela makes you a credit to the whole team if nobody else has one (often the case in my experience).
Stil, I too would like secondary shotguns.

I have to disagree with the whole Shotgun debaccle you guys are having. I think having a shotgun as a primary weapon is much better suited than having it as a secondary. It's meant to be based on real war situations, and you wouldn't see someone in a war situation running around with a Sniper Rifle and a Shotgun would you? That'd be obscenely heavy for anyone to carry, unless you're pretty much made of muscle. :P I have only just started using the Shotgun though and I started out with the SPAS using a Suppressor though. I'm not sure if it's good with the perks I'm running, which is the standard Marathon, Lightweight and Sleight of Hand. :/

A lot of things in the game aren't realistic, though. How often do you see real snipers rushing the enemy and trying to quickscope them? It's just a video game, not everything is supposed to be realistic. And to counter that argument even further, how many real snipers carry RPGs or crossbows or ballistic knives around as a secondary? And yet it's still an option. A shotgun would be much more realistic than a launcher.

I would be extremely happy if something were done about shotguns. Either make all of them have better range (real life shotguns are supposed to have more range than the ones in this game, too, but that's not my point) or move them to secondary.

I'm not in favour of the "real life" argument, because people only use it when it's beneficial and then disregard it when it conflicts with their own arguments. I just want things to be balanced. Right now, shotguns are near useless or require an insane amount of skill/luck to use.

I'm also too lazy to check on my stats, but I guess AK-74u would be the weapon that kills me the most. Why? Because almost everyone uses it, not because it's insanely powerful or anything. If everyone started using the G11, it would be the weapon that kills people the most. Doesn't mean it's the most powerful gun ever (although a case could be made for that). I'm just saying, the AK-74u isn't game-breaking. I honestly think people are just finding things to complain about, like in every other CoD game so far. Insert transition sentence. I still win the majority of my close/mid-range gunfights, even without dropshotting.

And that's all I have to say on that matter.

Double XP weekend was fun but bad at the same time. My W/L and K/D both took a huge hit. Connection issues everywhere (which I rarely ever complain about) and host migrations ruined it. Dedicated servers would be very very nice. I'm sure the $1 billion made from this game could afford some. I saw a thread somewhere on the CoD boards about advertisements during the pre-game lobby as well, and I think that could be a pretty good idea since it doesn't directly bother anyone at all.

I had something else to say but I forgot.

I honestly didn't even know it was Double XP Weekend. Was there a specific lobby for it, or did was it already incorporated in all game types?

I believe thats a fine set up for you class. I was never into putting silencers on my weapons, didn't exactly like the feel of it but thats just my personal opinion. And on the "real war situation" - hopefully I don't sound like I'm blasting you or anything (: - its just a game. They don't have to make everything exactly 100% realistic. If it makes the game more fun (which in my opinion BO is not as addicting as MW2) then I'd like to see those changes made. Remember when Treyarch made that swivel motion whenever you zoomed in with a sniper to make it more "realistic"? Everyone hated it, which eventually led to a patch for it.

Speaking of the past, remember the "awesome" spawning systems there were? Oh my god, horrendous... .__.

No, it was just automatically everywhere, except for Wager mode. Can't believe you didn't notice that assists would get you 160 points. =O

The spawning is still quite awful; quite often I've respawned in the middle of a crossfire. Ridiculous.

I played SnD all weekend during the double XP. Went up a full prestige even.
