    So Gold, Silver, Crystal, and their remakes, HeartGold and SoulSilver, gave the players a cell phone that you could use to call up NPCs for battles and items, to be notified of Pokemon swarms, just to chat, or to make sure that your mom isn't spending your money on more crap again. What're your thoughts on the phone feature in the Johto games? Would you want to see it again in future games (ok, it kinda existed in Hoenn's PokeNav and Unova's XTransciever, but those kinda pale in comparison to the phoe in Johto)? Anything else you wanna say about it?
     
    I really like the concept of the phone idea, it adds a little realistic touch to the pokemon games instead of just all fantasy in my opinion. It'd be cool if they could in a future game make it so u can get other ppls numbas to call them and chat :)
     
    Don't forget Kalos's Holo Caster! I like the concept of phones, though it can be annoying when someone calls you while you're doing something (namely in GSC/RSE, where you didn't have the option to ignore the call). It also kinda stinks that you can't call and ask to arrange a battle (except with the Gym Leaders in HGSS) or see if the person has an item or piece of information for you (there are some who do in HGSS and in BW/BW2); even if the chance were slim, it'd be better than having to rely on luck to receive such calls. Anyway, given how most of the new regions since Johto have had some sort of communication device of their own, I certainly hope the trend will continue in future games.
     
    In Pokémon Liquid Crystal (a ROM hack, for anybody that doesn't know), there were phone-stands in every towns and cities, which you would use to send calls to whoever that you have in your phone-book. If they don't wish to bring back cellphones any time soon, this wouldn't be such a bad alternative, if you ask me!
     
    It wasn't really of an amazing feature to me, but definitely cool. I like how you can call anyone you've added at anytime, and they can rematch you! I think you can add the Gym Leaders, too. But it can kinda get pesky at times- especially when your mom starts calling you saying she buys you useless stuff like berries and super potions. There isn't really a need for that, especially later in the game >_>
     
    To say the least, it's always funny when Youngster Joey calls and talks about his top percentage Rattata. xP But for the most part this wasn't the most exciting thing, especially when people call about something random that means no relevance to the game whatsoever. At least in HGSS you can get some nice items.
     
    I thought it was pretty fun, because it made you feel more connected to the people you battled, especially because they'd call to give you things and to ask for rematches, so it was like you were making lots of friends throughout the region. I hope this returns in future games. :) The only disappointment was that there wasn't a way to put the phone on "silent" and the ringer was slightly annoying after a while if you didn't want to answer.
     
    Lmao at the title and YAS the phone was the BEST!! :) I always registered people based on what pokémon they had and I used to call them each time I turned on Silver to see if they had any updates (they hadn't lol) xD I absolutely loved when they called up for battles as well :)

    I liked that in the remakes people seemed to call you up more often, although that usually meant an onslaught of calls from your mom (I'm playing SS at the moment and there's been occasions where she's called, I've run away from a battle and then she's calling me again! Which can only mean one thing: my mother is a shopaholic and never leaves the Department Store. And considering the nearest one is in Cherrygrove City... this is somewhat worrying lol) xD So yeah I preferred the mother in the original Silver where she used to buy me dolls :)

    The thing I would change would be that you could delete phone numbers (like in the original, you couldn't in the remakes) and YAS the feature should be included in every game!! :)
     
    Bring it back and give me an option to delete phone numbers I don't want anymore. I don't want to hear about your top percentage Rattata, Joey, stop calling me! Oh, and make it so I can ignore the calls. ...That's never gonna happen, is it?

    But seriously, I'd like to have the phone feature back.
     
    The phone features are cool but not necessary imo. I never use them unless someone calls me, in which case can be annoying when trying to get stuff done. RSE's PokéNav was cool but not for the phone feature. I liked the Trainer info that was provided, like a quote, where you can find them, and if they want a rematch. But instead of calling to tell us that they want a rematch, I'd rather look through my contact list on my own initiative to see if anyone wants a rematch.

    The item feature in HGSS was really nice. I never picked up the item though unless I was near the Trainer when they called haha. But that's the kind of thing that almost justifies the struggle of trying to travel through a Route while dodging phone calls :P
