4th Gen Certain Trainers only battle in the morning or night

Joggers in D/P/PT can only be battled in the morning. You can't rebattle them using the vs. seeker or battle them for the first time if it's any time other than morning. As well as policemen who will only battle you at night.This only happens in the generation IV games, and has never happened since.

I really liked this. It feels really realistic that joggers will only battle in the morning. People usually jog in the morning... I really wish this very, very unknown feature would be brought back, though. It's a shame it was mostly only used in generation IV, and on two trainer classes only. There are plenty of other Trainer Classes I'd imagine would only be battled in the morning or night. Like, twins. Twins are always portrayed to be young girls. They should only be able to battled during the day or morning, and never the night. Preschoolers in later generations, too. It'd be much more realistic if you can only battle that trainer class during the day/morning, since kids shouldn't be outside late at night after dark.

I've long known that the cop trainers in the Johto and Gen 4 games will only battle at night, but I didn't know until now that the joggers only battled during the day

Yeah same here, I knew about the police trainers battling at night, but not about the joggers so thanks! I think it would be interesting to see this feature return and how they could adapt it for different trainer classes. Maybe fishermen too could only be battled during the day, seeing as fishing isn't something that often happens at night? Could be quite a few varieties for this mechanic, but I suppose it could be annoying if overused, so maybe it's best they kept it to a couple classes!

Actually the best time to fish is at night, so they can't see you coming!

In all seriousness though, despite owning Diamond I don't think I even realised this until Platinum - I was cycling through a road previously travelled to get some berries, with only my Fly Pokémon in the party (who had Pokérus so spent the nights in the PC), it was a lv. 2 Starly or something and the policeman got about £400k from me.
Even then, it would be another year or so, doing some EV training, when I found out about the joggers when one messed it all up.
Definitely a neat feature, but I'm glad it doesn't appear in other generations. In particular in Gen V the combination of the seasonal variations and significant day / night variations would make a save seem like a minimum 4-month endeavour, which is absurd.

Anyways, I wish they brought this back! The policemen at night were iconic. I was never up early enough to battle with the joggers, though.
