    [PokeCommunity.com] Chansey

Chansey is a strange Pokémon in the GO world. She boasts one of the lowest max CP values in the game despite having 500 base HP and being one of the rarest finds available. Have you encountered this elusive Pokémon and if so, where did you find her? Have you battled against her base 40 Attack and laughed out loud at the damage? If you have one, what is she like to battle with and train? Do you think she's worth using despite the terrible base CP values? Let's talk Chansey!

Is she has hard to catch in GO as she is in the real games? I've never seen one personally but I'd be so hyped if I did. Chansey is one of my favorite Pokemon!

Ugh, I really want to get a Chansey. Can't seem to find it anywhere around here.

I like how they've kept it pretty elusive just like in the games; I've never really met anyone who had more than one yet.

    Two Chanseys.

One hatched from a 10km egg and the other appeared on a random lure.

Their CP is low due to the nonexistent attack and defense stats. Not much of a punching bag considering Snorlax outshines her in every single possible department.

I've got one from an egg; it's CP is low.

Not every Pokemon has to be balanced though.

Personally I've neither found nor seen a Chansey throughout my time playing the game. She's never been in a gym, never appeared in the "nearby" tab and hasn't even been seen by anyone I play with. That's mostly why I find her so interesting - stuff like Tangela and Porygon is obviously rare but Chansey seems to be on a whole new level to that. Do you guys think this is a good thing given her status within the Kanto games or is it just irritating? Figures Jae would be the first one to catch one ;p

I was hoping to be able to find her near a hospital.
    Hahaha, if only!

I don't think it's a good or bad thing that she's so rare. There has to be some Pokemon that are rarer than others and I don't particularly care that Chansey is on the rare end. I was quite disappointed when I hatched her because she's not as cool as some of the other 10K stuff and the CP was a bit naff, but if she's apparently so rare I guess I should be glad.

I wouldn't mind a Tengela. Haven't seen hide nor hair of one. No doubt I'll have to hope on an egg as that's how I got Chansey and Porygon. I'm so glad it's possible to get literally every Pokemon just from eggs - it'd be infuriating if there were some that didn't hatch but were just never in your area.

I'd kill for an eevee hatch. Eevees are super rare around here and I've been stuck on 24/25 candy for aaaages... I want an eeveelution damnit!

Chansey is definitely a great white buffalo in my area. I don't know anybody who has one nor of anybody mentioning have one, and I've never seen one posted up in a gym. Tangela is also on that level around here.

I've caught (2) Chanseys and have transferred one.

I've found one at a local (well known) park around dusk and I found another one near a cemetery just passing by and around dusk. These catches were no further than 2 miles from one another. I'm not sure if location or geographical settings play into the game thought process but I noticed that water Pokemon are found near water. So I can only assume.

    Guys I finally found one!!

    Spoiler:

Except I didn't. Couldn't find this stupid thing anywhere! The main reason I bring it up is because I found this pretty interesting - the general area I was in was in the lifeless area between the developed town nearby and the rural village I live in, specifically around some connecting motorway bridges, so there wasn't much around here at all. Does this description match the areas any of you guys have found her in?

I found one today while I was walking back to our car from downtown right after I hatched an egg. We were in a more secluded area between a park and the canal that's a cub one spawn. I got really excited since it's one of my favorite and I know blissey will be ridic regardless once they add it in

I wouldn't bank on it haha. Judging by Chansey having a max CP of around 900 or so, Blissey is probably going to be quite the disappointment! Expect her to have a ridiculous amount of HP but do zero damage and take hits very hard with a max CP of probably no higher than around 1,400. It's a shame because it's a really cool line of Pokémon which feel awesome to catch but they really are a tad useless right now unless the battle system gets a rework haha.

I found my chansey about 3 blocks away from a hospital (not sure if coincidence or higher chance around hospitals). Anyways im just posting this because i read something and tested it and it worked. The fact that Chansey has such a low CP is a blessing in disguise. If you try to level up a gym you own or your team owns fight it with a chansey you will gain so much experience without even having to beat it. The difference in CP of the pokemon that fight has something to do with the experience you get at a gym. Chansey being so low and the gym pokemon being so high that all you have to do is beat one pokemon with chansey to get over 1500 experience from the fight and this makes the gym level up so quickly. Chansey wont beat the whole gym but with its huge HP it can beat one pokemon then you quit the fight and watch the gym's level rise. Go ahead try it out guys

I was really lucky and found a Chansey the day after the game was released in the US. She was in the park by my house, and it took about 3 Pokeballs to catch her. Unfortunately, her CP is under 100 and I haven't seen one since. So she's just chilling in my storage until I can get more candies to power her up.

I named her Danny DeVito because she offers eggs to people in trying times.

That's very interesting, I hadn't heard of that before. I assume you've tried this and tested it yourself? Do you think this was intentional in how they designed Chansey's base stats or do you think it's just a fortunate side effect of being such a ridiculous Pokémon? At any rate I'm wanting one more than ever right now - need to try this out for myself!

Yes i tested the theory myself when i read about it and it does work. My chansey is a little on the stronger side so maybe it has to be strong enough to take out at least one mon. I think it was intentional why else would they make it so rare unless it was to mimic the original games.
