I have a few questions to ask. What makes a classic game for you? What's your favorite classic game? Do you think we have classic games in the current generation?

As for me, a classic game is a game I can go back and enjoy whenever I want. It doesn't matter how old it is, so long as I can enjoy the game for what it is. Games that age well, and even some that don't, to me are classics if I can play them from start to finish and love every second of it. Some games are ones that were too difficult for me when I was younger that I've recently played are games I can still enjoy (like Space Channel 5). Others, not so much.

As for my favorite classic game, I would say it's a tie between Gunstar Heroes for the Genesis/Mega Drive and NiGHTS Into Dreams... for the Saturn.

For classic games this generation, I do think we have a few and few that could be. One of the ones I think that could be a classic is LittleBigPlanet. The reason why I say could be is because of the entire online element. If the servers are kept up, I would say yes. If it went into a private server type thing, I would also say yes. But once the servers go down, there goes a good chunk of the game. One game that I would say is a classic this generation is Super Mario Galaxy. The level design, feel, and overall emotion of the game is unparalleled in my opinion.

For me, a 'classic' game has to be pretty old.
I wouldn't consider a game released a year or two ago to be a 'classic'.

Games from my youth I would consider classics, like Dragon Warrior Monsters. Yes, I do mean Warrior, since the game was released before the legal spat.

I don't use it much.. but lol.. OF COURSE MARIO'S A CLASSIC. The gameplay didn't change much. I like Mario, but it's more milked than girls that have busy nights. I would totally stop laughing from Bobby Kotick if he said that he took an example from Nintendo.
Anyway, I really like Rayman, Rayman 2 TGE, and Claw. Jazz Jackrabbit 2 was a popular classic in that time. Other than that I just can't really remember. I have a really bad memory.

i love classic games, there beter than the new games today.

i liked; PlayStation. Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Medievil I-II

Classic games had to have been released at least 10 years ago.

There are too many classics to name that I love, so I'll list these.
Sonic 3 & Knuckles (aka TRUE Sonic 3), Sonic Adventure 2
Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII
Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario RPG
    Donkey Kong Country 2
    Yoshi's Island
    Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal
    Super Smash Bros.
    Marvel vs Capcom 2
    Darkstalkers 3

I'll be able to add Super Smash Bros. Melee & Kingdom Hearts to that list in a couple years.

I don't think you can put a date on a classic game. I feel like classic means something you thoroughly enjoyed during perhaps your childhood or something. Classic is something that can never seem to age.

Classic games for me being Chrono Trigger, Breath of Fire 3, Blue/Red version, and Ocarina Of Time.

To me, a "classic" game is a game that's been around ever since it was created a long time back. My favorite classics happen to be "Super Mario Bros." and, of course, Pokemon.

I don't put a date on "classic" games. Any game that's good enough to be remembered fondly by many in some number of years I'd consider a "classic". Meh.

Being a child of the new millennium, I don't look to old games with nostalgia filled eyes, I look to them with curiosity to how kids 10-25 years ago played video games.

What makes a classic game for you?

Something I played as a child. Something I look back on not for the gameplay...

Most of the time, but for all the memories of putting in the disc/cart and just playing. Reliving memories is what makes a game or anything for that matter a nostalgia bomb for me. n_n

    What's your favorite classic game?

If I were to say games I loved as a kid was Sonic Heroes and Ratchet & Clank on the PS2. My cousin had an N64 and I ADORED Snowboarding Kids. The 2nd one is 50x times better and the DS sequel was a load of crap but I still loved the original to pieces. I also came across my favourite game of all time as a kid, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. FUN TIMES I HAD.

Do you think we have classic games in the current generation?

Judging by my own definition, it would need to make me relive memories. I.E., this level would be considered a classic to some in my eyes:

But for the whole game to be a classic, that takes skillz. I'd say no. :<

For me it has to be farly old and fun to play.

Video games that created a base for newer or modern games I would consider 'classics'.

I grew up partly with the SNES, but most of my childhood was spent through the N64 days.

    Some classics I remember are:
    Super Mario: All Stars
    Super Mario World
    Donkey Kong 64
    Super Mario 64
    Mortal Kombat
    Ocarina of Time
    Mario Kart 64
    Banjo-Kazooie
    Super Mario RPG

Personally, I think almost any game can be 'classic'. I consider things like Chrono Trigger, the Mana series and FF7 as classics, but at the same time, I also consider Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Mario Galaxy as classics. All you have to do is enjoy them thoroughly. :3

A game that's classic in my book is a game you spend hours on end trying to beat, including mini-games and extra features and such. And usually without help from the internet. Either no help or a guide book or a friend. Weird definition, but most of my favorite "classics" I didn't have too much help with. It's more of you not wanting the help. But this doesn't completely bar games that you used guides for from being a classic. I don't know. XD

My favorite classic games are Ocarina of Time, Pokemon Colosseum, Pokemon Sapphire, Kirby 64, Super Mario Bros. (original three), Super Mario World, and Dig Dug. :) Anything i remember playing as a wee lad or spending forever on during weekends and holidays.

Classic games of this generation? Not really sure! I personally think some of the games from this time that will go down as being "classics" will be Left 4 Dead 2 (even though I haven't played it, haha), Super Mario Galaxy (1 and 2), Sonic Colors, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Pokemon Black and White, Minecraft, World of Warcraft, The Sims, Scribblenauts, and Kingdom Hearts.

What makes a classic game for you?
It has to be fairly old to be a classic and of course, epicly fun.
    What's your favorite classic game?
    Halo, Super Mario and Pokemon.
Do you think we have classic games in the current generation?
I have to agree with Sydian, Left 4 Dead 2 is a complete classic for this generation.

What makes a classic game for you?
In general, I would have to say Platformer games make classics, like Mario. But that's not always true. I think classic means that it's still as good as when it first came out!

    What's your favorite classic game?
Super Mario World (SNES), Pokémon Blue and Red (GB), Donkey Kong Country (SNES), Earthbound (SNES)...hmmm...Super Mario RPG (SNES)...as you can see, I really like the SNES!!! lol Oh!!! And Super Mario 64 (N64) and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64)!!! So amazing!

Do you think we have classic games in the current generation?
Hmmm, for today? I would have to say perhaps Pokémon Diamond (first real Pokémon game on the DS and it looked GREAT!), and the New Super Mario Bros for DS and Wii! They are amazing! :) Ummmm, Grand Theft Auto IV (XB360 & PS3) was absolutely brilliant as well. Honestly though, I can't think of some immediate classics. I'm sure that there are some, but really...can't think of any right now.

What makes a classic game for you?
An older game that has stood the test of time and holds its own against today games.
    What's your favorite classic game?
Super Mario Bros., Pokemon (first two generations). Tetris. GoldenEye 007 (N64)
Do you think we have classic games in the current generation?
I don't want to call any current games classics yet before they've proven to be able to stand the test of time.
