The first line from the stupidest video promoting internet censorship I have ever seen. Now I'm heavily against internet censorship since the internet is a place made for freedom.... more freedom that we get in the world these days and I just hate it when someone tries to place rules as to what we should view and what we shouldn't view.

But if you don't know anything about internet censorship or haven't been keeping up with it, what it means is that you will have to pay more money just to use the internet at slower speeds but can't view what you want to. Let's say you're doing a history report on a figure of your choice and you want to do it on Hitler, the Government could deem Hitler a sensitive subject and add it to their censorship filter stopping you from getting any information about him and then you will have to spend days trying to find books on him. Or if you want to share files with friends and family you won't be able to share files such as music because it is deemed as piracy and several swat cars will be waiting outside your door ready to kick it down.

I agree with you fully on this issue, that video is silly. The thing is, the fact... that the more people try to censor things, the more determined the person is to speak up about it, to avoid the censors and by-pass them. Nothing will ever stop Child Abuse Images being distributed out right, it is unfortunate, but there is a part of society who desires such content.

The whole of the internet must not be punished for the behaviour of the minority though, it is not fair at all to block access to websites on any grounds in my opinion, unless they are overtly illegal. So that would mean Child Abuse Image websites being blocked obviously, but for example blocking YouTube, entirely... because of the content in one video, one person uploaded, is not just or right at all.

I am from England, unfortunately my current Government seems to want to censor users for distributing pirated content, like films and music. That is fine it's ok, I don't mind that all, but it must not and I repeat must not be used to censor the internet outright via proxy.

Now, I agree. Filtering is stupid, as (quoting a blogger) "it's a way to make the politicians look like they're doing something when all they're doing is putting a blockage that a schoolchild could circumvent in a matter of seconds". Filtering does not work. Lemme tell you something. Our school computers are meant to filter all pornography, video games, social networking sites and whatever else. It doesn't. Instead, all we do is find an unblocked proxy and exploit. It's adopting an "out of sight, out of mind" view and those don't exactly work.

Ever heard of multi-downloading and having it set on UNLIMITED? (BitTorrent and u,Torrent only)

Anyway, Internet censorship and censorship in general is stupid. You can self-censor the sites yourself, the government might like to know that we want to see our own information and the International Network was built to transfer any data you might want, even if it is immoral.

Also, Nintendo censors are hilarious, to say the least. They censored a Nazi game. It's funny.
