I was just wondering if anyone was college bound and/or in college this fall?

I ask because I'm starting my first semester at my local college and I'm nervousexcitedscaredweirdedoutexcited about it. I'll be living on campus and it'll be my first time actually LIVING away from home. Granted, it's only 20 minutes away from where I live now, but still, xD.

Anyway, I just wondered what you thought your first day? I move in monday and I'm supposed to have a room mate. Any weird room mate stories? lol

I'm going into my sophomore year studying music education and performance, but I'll say my first day was something I'll never forget. One thing I cannot stress enough to any incoming freshmen is to make friends and connections. I realized this late and it made all the difference with me personally.

Yep, I'll be going to OIT this fall to study Software Engineering. (Gonna go make me some video games :D)

I start my freshman year this year. I move in on the first of September, so I'm sort of counting down, yet I'm a little nervous. My only issue is the fact that my roommate lives in South Korea, so I don't know how good his English is really going to be =/ I'm hoping for the best, I mean, he has to speak it decently to really attend an American college.

But yeah, I'm pretty much feeling the same as you xD

I'm living at home and going to a local college, but I literally live a 1/4 of a mile from my college, so I come home almost three times a day between classes.

My first semester was pretty awesome, actually. I had three classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays and one online class. I'd go to school at 9AM and took guitar, then headed straight to my math class. After that, I'd go to lunch and meet my dad at the place we always go almost every day, haha. Then I'd come back to school for Spanish class. And I had English online and it was a really laid back, easy class with an awesome book to read, so no complaints. :)

Then the following semester, I took criminal investigations on Mondays and Wednesdays, then Tues/Thurs, I had health, history and Spanish again. This semester is gunna be really lame though. :/ I've got class Mon-Thurs all day practically. History, a study on women (forced to take it lolol), tennis, history of rock and roll, and math. Not my preferred choices, but whatever.

It's not as bad as it may seem. Really fun for me, even though I'm kind of shy. I've made a few friends in each class, which is always nice to have in a class if it's boring.

That's exactly how I felt this time last year. I went to a different country for college, and I was excited but at the same time really nervous on what was going to happen. I lived on campus too, and my roommate wasn't anything like me. He drank out a lot and came in at weird hours in the morning. We weren't compatible at all, but luckily he felt the same and we decided that he could switch with one of his friends who also had a roommate issue.

My second roommate was a lot better — he didn't bother me and kept himself to himself. We weren't exactly "friends", but we got on well for both the fall and spring semesters. The key is that if you don't get on with your roommate, and you honestly don't feel happy, to either talk to them to come to some sort of compromise or to talk to the residence officer and ask for a roommate switch. They'll hear you out if you have a genuine problem with them.

My first day was scary, and I can still remember sitting in my English class at 10AM thinking it was completely different to how I thought. I'd assumed big lecture halls, but this was just a normal classroom. My teacher came straight in, and was like "Okay, everyone, we're going to have a test!" And my heart literally sank, until he said it was just to make sure we belonged in the class we were assigned to, and not supposed to be in a lower one. XD

In the afternoon, I had a philosophy class and I was with someone I knew which made it a lot better. My final class was mathematics and that went by pretty quick. On the Tuesday, I had a class with 200+ people in it and that was in the lecture hall I'd imagined every room to be like. I enjoyed not having to get up until 12PM on a Tuesday and Thursday, though.

For last semester, I had a pretty similar schedule, and the classes were fine. I wasn't nervous about starting or anything because I'd done it all before. This semester I only have one class on a MWF, from 10-10:50, and on a TR I have classes from 9AM-3:40PM. I'm interested to see how that's going to turn out; I'm sure I'm going to get really tired, but I can't resist having so much free time for 5 days a week. :P

    Good luck and have fun!

Ah, yes, my first day of college, nine or so years ago :P

I remember that someone, at 4 that morning, pulled the fire alarm at the hotel we were staying at, so we were good and awake when we actually moved in :)

The first week of college is always fun, as there's lots of events for the new students. As for my classes... first semester I didn't have the best professors, but I didn't have the worst either... just kind of average, like the classes themselves.

I hardly spoke to my roommate, but we never had any arguments or trouble between us either.

I went to my local community college for the past two years while living with my mother. I graduated from there in May and am now living in a dormitory 3-4 hours north of where my family lives. I'm about to begin my junior year tommorow.

I will be (Hopefully) starting in the winter semester this January. I would be enrolled now, but I'm waiting for my grant to get renewed.

I'm a Sophomore in High School, but I already know which college I want to go to. Next summer I'm visiting my cousin who lives 30 mins away from there and who went there so I could get some extra info on it. I would visit there right now, but seeing as I'm in a different state I can't.

I'm not going to college for a couple years, but I know someone who is. I did learn a lot about the application process though, and the credentials you need to be accepted.

Well,I plan on going to college i am in high school still thou my 11th grade year.So all this info you college students have shared is helping me and i thank you.I might still have 2 years before college but im looking forward to it in a way.

Daul-credit classes? me too. the time there offered conflicts with band, so im going to have to take them in the summer though. :(

I'm stepping into first year College as well. See, I'm very much like you where it takes just a half hour by car to get there, but I don't get to live in residence. I have to commute every day, and by public transportation, it'll take me a good hour, hour and a half to get to school.

I'm very excited and pretty nervous. I don't know anyone at this College. Well, actually I know two people but they're two years older than I am and I hardly talk to them haha, doubt I'll be starting now. It'll feel like I'm stepping into something completely new, but I am so up for it. I can't wait. You should look on the bright side like me and say hey, these next few years are some of the greatest of your life. Enjoy 'em. :D

Good luck! Hopefully your first day of classes are fun, I'm sure they will be. I know mine will.

    eeeeeeeeeeee so excited

I stepped into my first year of College last week. Though I'm still living at home due to money (which I'm completely fine with), I had a wonderful time during my first time at classes. I truly hope that it stays that way. /currently in the major of Environmental Science; hoping to pursue the field of Meteorology eventually.

My sophomore year started last monday, so im a week in so far. after you've had college classes for a year, its much muct easier the second time around. Its just something you have to get used to, but once you do it'll be fine. College isnt as big and scary as its made out to be sometimes. ^^

I'm entering my third year at Grand Valley State University tomorrow. I'm going for a four year Computer Science major.
