Combined Pokemon Solo Challenge Thread

It is completely allowed, I mean I do it for most of my solo challenges. I just set them as my starter because it makes it a lot more efficient than having to catch etc.

Hello all. I was looking into doing this challenge for something to occupy my spare time with, so sign me up. Do I just post my progress here? I'd also like to do the run with a Raichu, my favorite pokemon.

Name: Flynn.

Rival: Clu

Pokemon: Tron the Raichu.

Games I'll be playing:

Johto: Crystal

Sinnoh: Platinum

I've just started Leaf Green so I will post my progress sometime tomorrow.

The only hacking I have done is setting up my starter pokemon as Raichu for Crystal, Leaf Green, and Emerald. For Platinum and White 2 I plan to use pokegen to edit the saves before my first rival battle.

Since I won't be at those games for a bit, to what extent can I edit my Raichu? Do I set everything to random, or can I edit his nature, ev's, and skills but still start at a level 5? Or, at the very least, edit his nature?

Diary 1. Kanto Region.

I left my house to walk to the store at the nearby town of Viridian for a moomoo milkshake. Just as I was about to step into the grass my neighbor, Mr. Oak, came screaming up to me saying it was dangerous. Now, I may be mute but I doubt a couple of skittish rattata and small pidgey are going to hurt me. I think I remember my mom telling me that Mr. Oak needed to see me anyways so I follow him back to his lab.

Standing at the back next to a table of pokeballs was Mr. Oaks grandson, Clu. He's been trying to best me at everything since we were babies. Mr. Oak had called both of us here to give us each a pokemon from his personal collection. I chose the grass type, Bulbasaur, while my rival chose Charmander, a fire type. As I turned to leave, Clu decided we should battle.

I tossed out my ball and what came out wasn't what Mr. Oak remembered. There, standing in front of my rivals Charmander was a Raichu. Without even thinking about it I was on the attack. The Charmander didn't seem to like the electricity and went down after a couple of Thundershocks, with my Raichu only receiving a couple of scratches. Clu looked rather upset and I just grinned as I took his allowance for winning the match.

This time I left and finally made it to the market for my milkshake. Just as I was about to pay for it, the clerk instead gave me a package for Mr. Oak, along with a message to say hi. Saddened by my lack of sweet milkshake goodness, I made my way back to Mr. Oaks lab to deliver his parcel, which turned out to be a custom pokeball. Around this time Clu decided to drop back by.

Once he arrived Mr. Oak asked us to do the most ridiculous thing ever. Live his dream for him. He has tasked Clu and myself with finishing up an encyclopedia of all pokemon species on the region called a Pokedex. Clu had no problem with this and promptly told me to shove off and smell you later. I decided that Tron, my Raichu, and I would do our best to complete this before him too.

So I once again left for Veridian, after telling my mom of course, and headed once again to get my milkshake. Milkshake in hand, I made my way to Viridian forest. I've brought extra provisions just in case we get lost. This is where I'll leave this entry for now.

Diary 2. Kanto Region

Viridian forest proved to have little difficulty as I didn't even need to heal going through it. After emerging I bought a couple of potions and headed to Pewter gym at level 12.

Fun fact, rock and ground types are immune to electric. So I white out and decided to go level up. While wandering around Viridian Forest I caught a Pikachu and named it Grid, it was then shoved into the box at the Pokemon Center. At level 18 I decided to take on the gym again. After a lot of tail wagging and quick hits, the Boulder Badge was ours.

From there I made my way to Mt. Moon. All the battles on the way proved easy and I only stopped at the Pokemon center to restore PP. Mt. Moon is full of Geodudes. Even at a level 20 it was taking a tail wag and two quick hits to put down a level 8. A little ways through I started to encounter Team Redundant. At the end I take out the nerd and he decides to share his Dome Fossil with me. I like Kabuto/Kabutops so I'm gonna make it into my HM slave once I can revive it.

After I've emerged from Mt. Moon I head straight to the Nugget Bridge forgetting that I'll run into Clu. Surprisingly enough, all his Pokemon fall to a single Thunderbolt. After that I heal up and take on all 4 Pokemon at Cerulean Gym. They all fall to single Thundershocks and at this point I'm feeling good and take on Nugget Bridge without healing. At the end of it I'm a level 26 and it's on to Bills house.

I head on without healing still and regret it when I run into a hiker with three Geodudes. After that I head back, heal, and make my way all the way to Bills house. I encounter a disturbing Clefairy human thing as I enter and realize it's Bill in an expiriment gone horribly wrong. After extracting the bubbly pink DNA he hands me a ticket for the S.S. Anne as thanks. I thought he gave you an Eevee but maybe that's a different game.

After that I head to Vermillion and the cruise ship. Before boarding I grab the bike ticket from the Pokemon fan club and then it's off to see the captain for our first HM.

Going through the S.S. Anne is pretty short, although it is full of battles and useful items. I decided to forego healing again and do the whole thing in one go. I found Clu at the end of the ship again, and again, his team fell to Thunderbolts. I noticed the Captain was rather seaside so I rubbed his back to make him feel better. In exchange he gave me HM 01, Cut. After leaving the ship it sailed away, never to be heard from again.

I decided from here to go back up and get the bike for easier travel. I also grab Grid from the box, and upon learning she nor Thor can learn Cut, release her and search for a Pokemon that can learn it.

Next time, We'll see who I find to take Grids place.

Fun filled fact about Raichu in Leaf Green. They don't learn a single move. So your only way of learning anything is through the Move Tutor, TMs, or HMs. I've just made it through Mt. Moon so I'll post that tonight, probably in a different format.

So, I signed up a great while back, to do a Solo Challenge on Platinum using Gallade. Now, I finally sat down and made some real progress on it. So here it goes:

I've been busy with Christmas, Birthday, and Anniversary things the last couple of weeks but I've recorded more of my progress in a more readable format, hopefully. I'll update again later on in the month. Merry Christmas everyone! On a side note, I'm just about done with Leaf Green, then it's on to Crystal.

After catching Bop the Weedle, Houdini the Abra, and Marvin the Bellsprout, I finally caught my Cut slave in Marvin. Grid and Bop were then released into their natural habitats. I'm keeping Houdini for his ability to Teleport.

After finding Marvin I set out to take on Lt. Surge. It should be an interesting match since he uses only electric types. I stood corrected however as the only difficulty I had was a double teamed Pikachu who was hard to hit. After obtaining the Thunder Badge and the TM Shockwave, which I taught to Thor, I healed up and headed through Digletts Cave to Pewter City where I obtained the Old Amber from a scientist.

After that I headed back east of Vermilion towards Rock Tunnel. At this point I'm about 20 levels higher than all the trainers I'm fighting on my way up. The entire route to the Rock Tunnel was pretty uneventful besides teaching Flash to Houdini.

As for the Rock Tunnel itself, this is the place of nightmares. I used 2 Rare Candies on Tron, 4 Ethers, all 5 of my Super Potions, and my only Revive since she died to a Graveller. This place was horrible and we shall never speak of it or its atrocious Hikers again.

After clawing my way out bruised and mangled I avoided every trainer I saw and booked it to the nearest Pokemon center for a little rest, relaxation, and immense restocking. After picking up 10 Super Potions, 5 Great Balls, and 5 Revives, I head back to battle the trainers I missed. After this I headed up to the Pokemon tower and battled Clu. All of his Pokemon fell to a Thunderbolt each. Once I found out I needed the Silph Scope to continue I headed south along the pier.

I got into a double battle with Thor and Marvin. Unsure of what to do I had Marvin use sleep powder while Thor did the actual damage. So I'm not sure if I've broken the rules or not. So this is where I'll leave off. Marvin went up 1 level from this fight.

Houdini has been shoved into the box so now I carry Thor the Raichu and Marvin the Bellsprout who has learned Flash.

After figuring out that I couldn't go south down the pier I decided to go east of Lavender instead. All of the fights were pretty easy, I had aother double battle with Marvin that resulted in his use of sleep powder once more. After going along an underground route I emerged at the western entrance of Celadon. There's a lot to do here so I start with getting the tea.

After obtaining the tea from the old lady I headed behind the pokemon center to grab the Eevee from the top apartment. Once Regenetic is shoved into the box I headed towards the gym to take on Erika. It's pretty uninteresting as everything falls to either a Return or not so effective Shock Wave.

Feeling pretty good I head on over to the Game Corner to take on the "secret" Team Rocket base. Thor is getting massively over powered as I plow through this place with no sweat. Even Giovanni is easy, even if all three of his pokemon took two returns each to go down. I make my way out with the Silph Scope, heal, and head east to grab HM 02, Fly. I have no pokemon that can use this yet, so the search will be on. For now though, I head back to the Pokemon Tower.

Going up the tower isn't the least bit difficult. There's even a free heal halfway up that I didn't think I really needed but proved useful either way. My most difficult fight was Marowak. Her Bonemerang hit four times in total and took me down to 23 HP. Having forgotten that I can't catch her, I also waste a Great Ball. Throwing caution out the window I continue on without healing and fight all three Rocket grunts with 23 HP. Suffice to say they all leave crying and I'm escorted to Mr. Fujis house and given the PokeFlute.

This opens up quite a few areas so this is where I'll leave off while I figure out where to go.

I've decided I'll head east to Saffron, then south from Lavender, then east again before heading to Fushcia.

First things first I take on the fighting dojo and take Hitmonlee as my prize. Now named Bruce Lee, he will become my Strength and Rock Break slave. After that I get ready to take on the Silph Co building.

My first step is to go up each flight of stairs to take out everyone, with brief breaks to go replenish PP. The only thing to take me below 100 HP is Cubone. At this point I'm debating replacing Tail Whip with Brick Break for Rock/Ground types. Going through each floor is pretty uneventful and I grab the Door Key halfway through my way up. Once I've completed my way up, I head back down to open doors one floor at a time. After that I head up to the president and meet Clu on the way. He's still pretty easy, with only his Eggxecute needing two hits to wipe out. After I send him packing I grab the Laprus from the man standing there and name it Ferry. Once that's done I take on Giovanni who isn't that difficult either. All his Pokemon fall in two or three hits and I get the Master Ball as thanks for all my hard work.

Next up is my 5th gym. It goes really easy with me only getting lost for about 20 minutes. After that I head east down the Cycling Path and head to Fushcia. Once there I head to the Safari Zone and grab both the Gold Teeth and HM 03, Surf. After that I take on Kogas gym and get my 6th badge. At this point I head east to mop up the trainers I missed along this route. Before going I also grab Ferry and Bruce Lee from the box and teach them Surf and Strength respectively.

Next I'm going to try and find a flying pokemon to teach Fly and Cut so I can retire Marvin to the box. Then I'll figure out where to go next. Maybe a pokemon catching spree.

I've completed Trons journey through Leaf Green. Due to doing this completely on my phone I'm adding another post, hopefully isn't counted as a double post. I actually have a screenshot of the hall of fame but unfortunately I can't post pictures yet.

So getting bored for two weeks I head out down route 19 to catch a Krabby that I name Larry. He gets taught Surf, Strength, Cut, and Rock Smash when I get it. I don't think Flash is needed at this point so I retire Marvin to the box. I take Podge the Pidgey out of the box and teach him Fly to get to Pallet Town, then Surf down to Cinnabar. It's pretty easy going and my first agenda is to revive my two fossils. Xavier the Aerodactyl takes Podges place for my flyer pokemon. So right now I only carry 3 including Tron.

My next agenda is to head to the giant haunted mansion on the other side of town. The gym is off limits in case you're wondering. So I enter and scare the crud out of a little kid on the first floor, hit the switch, and grab the items before heading to the second floor. I fight the few guys up here and only get lost once before falling down the right hole. From here I do a stupid thing and head straight outside. Yup, ran the whole thing again, this time just heading down the stairs. At this point I'm almost out of PP and am considering going topside. Instead I plow forward and grab the Secret Key before using an escape roap to head back.

Now I can take on the gym here. Going through doesn't pose a challenge and I obtain the badge easily enough. From here I'm coraled into boarding a boat for the Sevii Islands. I decide to head to Mt. Ember to grab the HM and make my way up cause I don't remember what's here. Turns out it's Moltres who proceeds to kick my butt while I try to catch him. After dropping 7700 dollars I head to the next island to hand over the Meteorite and then head over to find the kid. Has anyone else ever noticed ahead refers to herself in both first and third person?

After taking thwarting kid back to her dad, I head back to check on Bill, who is done, and hi tail it back to Cinnabar. From here I'm heading back to Viridian to take my last gym. This gym actually poses a problem for me this time around. After my first trainer I take the time to switch out Tail Whip for Brick Break in the hopes that I can take out rock pokemon in one hit. After my fourth trainer I'm poisoned and down to 14 health so I take a moment to head out and heal. Once that's done I work my way further into the gym.

Taking on Giovani was easier than the gym itself. My only problem being his Nidoqueen as I try to hit it with Lightning and Brick Break, both of which are pretty ineffective. I finally take it out with a Return but not before it gets off two earthquakes and poisons me with its barber. Taking out his Nidoking and second Ryhorn are easy and I heal up at the Pokemon center.

At this point I now have all 8 badges. Now it's time to take on the Elite 4. Before I do however I'm going to explore around a little more and maybe raise myself a few more levels, just to be safe.

My first stop was going to be Cerulean Cave to pick up Mewtwo but I forgot that you have to beat the elite 4 first. So instead my first stop will be the power plant to pick up Zapdos. I take out the maniac in front before making my way inside. I have more than enough cash to get pokeballs and healing items. Grabbing Zapdos was relatively simple, with it only taking 35 ultra balls. I name it Waffles and shove it into the box before making my way to Mt. Ember.

Moltres was waiting patiently at the top to be caught. After my last defeat to this bird I'm determined to catch it. This proves massively difficult. My attempts are thwarted with Tron dieing once, me using all 50 of my ultra balls, and Moltres using all of his moves and struggling to death. I finally caught him after three resets and a total of 85 ultra balls.

Next up is Articuno. I fly to Fuschia and head south on route 19 to the seafoam islands. Fighting all the trainers on the way raises me up one level and depletes all of shock waves PP. So I end up using a lot of my max repels in order to be decent for my upcoming fight. The seafoam islands are basically are large strength puzzle. Its not entirely difficult and I find my way to my foe easily enough. Catching Articuno is just as easy. He only takes 25 ultra balls and freezing Thor wasn't a big deal.

Once caught I make my way out I fight the rest of the trainers on my way back to Cinnabar. Once there Death Wing is shoved in with his buddies and I decide my next move.

There wasn't a whole lot I could do after catching the legendary birds so I head out to take on the Elite Four. On my way up I see Clu again. He's still just as easy. I forgot that charizard has a dual type, so electric is super effective against hiatus flying. I didn't actually mean for this to happen when I picked out bulbasaur.

Victory road is actually a little difficult as I use an escape road to get out and restock. Once through I sell all of what I don't need and make my way to the Elite Four. Before heading in I retire all but Tron.

Lorelei is easy enough and all of her pokemon go down in one or two hits, with the biggest problem being her lapras confusing Tron once. Bruno and agatha go down just as easily. Lances dragonite gives me a bit of trouble as I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention. He took Tron down to half health and paralyzed him.

Before taking on Clu I use my only elixir to completely heal Tron up. Lance was harder than Clu was and he goes down to more Thunderbolts.

Thus ends Flynn and Trons epic adventure in Leaf Green. Included is the screenshot from the hall of fame. Now it's on to Crystal.

P.S - The reason why I rarely update is because I have been working on a hack for Pokemon Black and White, which I am nearly finished, and when I'm done my updates will again be more consistent. The main purpose of the hack is to play Pokemon where EVERY Pokemon is usable and catchable, while the difficulty has a major increase. I expect it to be finished before the new year.

I started my first ever solo run last night. So, the official stuff:

Pokemon: Lillipup-Herdier-Stoutland
Game: White

Chose Snivy for a starter (so I could get Panpour for free, for a water HM slave later). Spent a long time turning circles in the grass on Route 1 before I came up with the Lillipup I wanted - Adamant with Vital Spirit (which becomes Intimidate with Herdier and Stoutland). It's a male and I caught him at level 2 and named him Sebastian.

Then we went on to Accumula Town, without encountering anything along the way.

Walked out of the PC, planning on going back down to Route 1 to train Sebastian a bit, but when I saw the crowd over by the square, I decided to get that part of it out of the way first. That turned out to be a tactical error, but I didn't realize it until the crowd broke up and I saw N, and remembered that that's the first time you have to fight him and here I was, preparing to do a solo run, with a level 2 Lillipup. Nothing to do about it though, and I had just bought seven potions, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

That was one of the more thrilling battles I've had in a while. N's Purrloin is level 7, and each of its Scratches did 5 points of damage to Sebastian, who only had 14 points total. So the first hit knocked him down from 14 to 9, then he hit back with a Tackle and took off maybe 1/8 of the Purrloin's total. The next hit knocked him from 9 to 4 and he hit back with another Tackle. On the next turn, I gave him one of the Potions to bump him up to 14, then the Purrloin hit to knock him down to 9. Next turn, the Purrloin hit to knock him down to 4, then he hit back and took a little off. And that became the pattern - every other turn I gave him a potion, then he got in a hit, then I gave him a potion, then he got in a hit. All I could do was hope the Purrloin didn't get a crit while he was at 9. It only got one though, and it came while he was at full health, knocking him from 14 all the way down to 3. And in the end we won. It took all 7 of the freshly purchased potions (I only had one left - the one from Route 1) and after the battle, Sebastian went all the way from level 2 to level 6. Unfortunately, I got so caught up in the battle that I forgot to grab any screenshots. I took the money from the battle, plus what I had left over, and bought some more potions.

From there on out, it's been surprisingly easy. We breezed through Route 2, including battling Bianca at the end of it (Yes Bianca, you are in trouble). Got in to Striaton City and fought Cheren at the school, then went to the Dreamyard and picked up the Panpour and named him Carl. Cruised through the first gym.

Then we went back to the Dreamyard. Taught Carl Cut and went in and fought the grunts, and Sebastian reached level 16 and evolved into Herdier.

I wondered what was going to happen with the double battles - the first one is the twins in front of the Day Care on Route 3. Turns out they won't battle you, and won't let you past, unless you have two Pokemon. I had put Carl in the PC after the Dreamyard, so I went back and got him out, but then I had to figure out what to do with him. The only non-attacking move he had was Leer, which still has an effect on the other team, so he still would've been helping out in any fight and it wouldn't be a solo run. So I taught him Work Up via TM, then went and fought the twins. Sebastian did all the work while Carl just stood there and Worked Up (and he only had to do it twice, since Sebastian one-shotted their Purrloins on consecutive turns), so I figure it still counts as a solo run. Best I can do anyway, since they insist on a double battle.

Then on to Nacrene City. Fought N outside the Museum, swung out and around outside Pinwheel Forest (though no Fighter in my party, so no Star Piece from the Challenge Rock), then back to Lenora's gym. Sebastian was level 21 going in and level 23 by the time we worked through the underlings. Lenora (and her Watchog) were the first real challenge since N's Purrloin all the way back at level 2, but it was never any real danger. Its Retaliates took a bit over a third of Sebastian's points, and I had plenty of potions and plenty of patience, so it was just a matter of time.

Finished, got the badge, then it was on to Pinwheel Forest to fight the trainers and recover the skull, then across Skyarrow bridge (easily one of my favorite things ever in any Pokemon game) and on to Castelia City.

Explored the whole city, fought all the trainers, met Burgh, fought the grunts, got that warm feeling when Bianca was reunited with her Munna, and saved just inside the door to Burgh's gym.

This whole thing has been much easier than I even expected. I sort of expected to end up overleveled, even though we haven't ground at all (and haven't even seen a lot of Pokemon, since we only go through the grass as much as necessary to get from point A to point B), just because Sebastian fights every trainer battle and gets every experience point. But we're about 10 levels beyond anything we see in random encounters and at least three or four levels beyond even the toughest trainers. Sebastian one-shots almost everything, and most often with Tackle. He uses Rock Smash on Rocks and Darks and sometimes Normals and Crunch on Psychics and such, and that's it. He had Take Down for a while, but never used it much since Tackle does plenty, and without the recoil.

I tried using A-Starter to hack in Elekid as my started in Liquid Crystal, but the game keeps glitching out on me so I'll scrap it.

Instead I'll do an Ultimate Run using Electabuzz through Leaf Green - Crystal - Emerald - Platinum - Black

I'll get on the Leaf Green playthrough right away!

EDIT: Got enough done for an update, a little over leveled at this stage but I'm okay with it.

-Buzzy evolved into Electabuzz while going through the SS Anne

-Beat Rival just outside Captain's Quarters.

Burgh was mostly easy except for Leavanny. Each of its Razor Leafs took a bit less than half of Sebastian's HP, while nothing Sebastian had (Tackle, Rock Smash and Bite, plus Work Up at that point) did much more than about a third in return. I had one X Speed (I've never used battle items before, but I can see them coming in handy for this run), so I decided to use it and at least get out in front of the Leavanny, but it countered almost immediately with String Shot, so we just kept plodding along. Three Super Potions and two Lemonades later, it was over and we had won.

Then went back and healed and it was on to Route 4. Fought Bianca at the gate, then Cheren on the road - neither one was any trouble at all. Headed out into the desert, then down and around to the water and fought the two fisherman. At the end of the second one, Sebastian went to level 32 and evolved to Stoutland. Worked our way through the rest of the desert, then picked up the Dig TM from a construction worker near the road to Desert Resort and taught Dig to Sebastian. Shame that he can't learn Earthquake or even Bulldoze, but it'll have to do. Then it was on to Nimbasa City.

Met Professor Juniper at the gate and got the Quick Balls (funny that pokeballs means absolutely nothing now), then went in and rescued the Day Care guy and got the bicycle. Got the Strength TM, then tried to figure out what I was going to do with it. I checked a bit and discovered that Rufflet can learn Cut, Strength and Fly, which will work perfectly with Carl the Panpour learning all the water HMs, so I traded in a Rufflet named Benny and taught him Cut and Strength. And Work Up, so that he'll have something non-combat to do with his turns if he ends up in a double battle. Went to the Amusement Park, took the dull ferris wheel ride with N then mopped the floor with his pokemon. Then we went out onto Route 5 and dealt with those trainers, then headed toward Route 16, but stopped when we got the Macho Brace from a guy in the gate house. I decided it'd be a good time to work on Sebastian's EVs a bit, since we were about to start getting into stuff with unwanted Special Attack EVs, so we went all the way back to the Dreamyard and turned circles for a while, fainting Patrats, Purrloins and Munnas, for Attack, Speed and HP respectively. Did that until I was too bored to do it any more, then headed back to Nimbasa, swinging by Desert Resort along the way. Trudged through there and dealt with all the trainers, then went back into town, healed up, then went out onto Route 16 and dealt with those trainers.

Took a screenie since there's a gesture that Ducklett makes that amuses me.

It's as if it's trying vainly to interrupt - "Oh - hang on a sec'... umm..."



Then back into town to heal, and saved outside the door to Elesa's gym.

Hey there guys! I gonna do a Girafarig solo run for LeafGreen, Crystal and Emerald. Why? Well, I set these guidelines for myself:

1. I will use a Pokemon at random
2. The Pokemon randomly selected must not be a pure Normal-type
3. The Pokemon randomly selected must have at least 1 attacking move at Level 5

The RNG gave me 203, which is Girafarig. Now I'm not gonna do a full Ultimate challenge with it because I'm not in the mood to do DS games, but I will do the GBC/GBA games.

Cruised through Elesa's gym. Sebastian outsped everything her underlings had, including the Emolgas, and OHKOed all of them and got to her without even having been hit once.

Sebastian one-shotted her first Emolga with a Return, but took a Static paralyze. The second Emolga came out and I took the turn to use a Paralyz Heal, and it hit Sebastian with a Volt Switch and the Zebstrika came out. Sebastian used Dig and Zebstrika missed with a Spark, then went down on the next turn when the Dig hit. The Emolga came back out and Sebastian one-shotted it with Return, and that was that.

Went out to Route 5, met Alder, watched Cheren be Cheren, then went across the drawbridge and on to Driftveil. Went through the town and talked to everyone. I was sort of wondering what I was going to do about the Heart Scale lady, since I don't have a bunch of pokemon to teach TMs to in exchange for Heart Scales, and I'm going to need some later to teach Sebastian the elemental Fangs. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do, since the first one she asked for was Dig, and Sebastian already has it. I also debated what to do about Charles and the Triple Battle, and finally decided to just go for it. I put Sebastian in the second spot, so he'd be in the middle, and then he attacked on each turn while Carl and Benny just used Work Up. Sebastian took his team down in three turns - one OHKO each. Then it was on to Cold Storage, which worked out just like Elesa's gym - nothing touched Sebastian the entire time we were in there - he outsped and one-shotted everything he faced, though I did have to leave before the final showdown and go to the PC and come back, since his Return was running out of PP.

Then it was off to Clay's gym. And again, the underlings never even touched Sebastian, and soon enough, we were down at the bottom, facing Clay.

One-shotted his Krokorok with a Rock Smash, then one-shotted his Palpitoad with a Return. Then it was time to face the Murder Mole...

What indeed? Sebastian had Dig, and I was sure that it would one-shot Excadrill, but using Dig against a Ground type is a gamble, since Earthquake-style moves hit for double damage on an opponent who's underground. But there was no other good choice, so I went for it. Had a brief moment of relief and fear when Excadrill countered with Bulldoze - relief that it didn't have EQ, but fear that Bulldoze would do the same thing - but then discovered that there's a significant difference, beyond the difference in power, between Bulldoze and EQ. Bulldoze misses underground opponents completely.

And that was it for Clay, and Sebastian had come through without a scratch.

Left the gym, swung by the PC, then went out towards Route 6. Ran into Bianca and trounced her, then got the Fly HM from her. Taught Fly to Benny, then decided to fly home for a bit. Went by the Professor's lab and showed her my Pokedex and got the False Swipe TM, then worked our way through the routes to Striaton and to the Dreamyard to do some more EV training, and that's where we are right now. I want to wrap that up, then it's on to Route 6 and Chargestone Cave...

We made our way up through Route 6, battling the trainers along the way. Caught a Deerling for the scientists, then just put it in a box (the only thing in my PC other than Snivy, who's been there since he helped me catch Sebastian). Talked to N, then talked to Bianca and Professor Juniper and got the Lucky Egg from the Prof. Worked through the cave, mostly under Repel, just because too many things have Static and I just didn't want to deal with it. Had a sort of interesting thing happen with the last trainer before N - he had a Tirtouga that Sebastian did NOT one-shot - that's the first time that's happened in I-don't-even-know-how-long. Then went on and battled N yet again. Sebastian ended up taking a fair amount of damage in that one, but mostly because Sturdy kept him from one-shotting the Boldore and he had to hit the Ferroseed twice and take Iron Barbs damage both times.

Got in to Mistralton City - met Professor Juniper Sr. and Skyla, got the Pokedex upgrade, then went to the Move family's house and Carl forgot Cut (he's had it since the Dreamyard, but hasn't needed it since I added Benny) and Sebastian learned Ice Fang. Went up through the tall grass and ended up facing a triple battle with a trainer there, with Sebastian predictably in the lead, so on the far left for the battle and unable to hit the pokemon on the far right. Swore a bit and restarted, which took me back to the beginning of the tall grass. Worked my way through again, then put Sebastian in second position and faced that trainer again. Sebastian swept the opponents in three turns while Carl and Benny stood there and Worked Up. Then put Sebastian back in the lead and went on to Celestial Tower. The only thing of any particular note that happened in there was Sebastian's first encounter with another Stoutland.

Predictably, he mopped the floor with it. The 16 level advantage certainly helped. Got to the top, rang the bell, then flew back to town, healed (refilled PP, more accurately) then it was on to Skyla's gym. Breezed through the underlings with Sebastian's Ice Fang, although I realized that Thunder Fang might've been the better choice the first time I came to a Ducklett, particularly since that reminded me that Skyla had a Swanna. But Return one-shotted it anyway, so that was fine.

Swept Skyla's team easily, including a one-shot on the Swanna with Return. Another gym down with no damage taken at all.

Left and went to talk to the kids, then to retrieve the Aerial Ace TM. Decided to put Rock Smash back on Sebastian for the time being, to handle the Boldores in Twist Mountain, then set out over the walkways. Actually ended up making a battle with one of the clowns on the walkways a bit tough. When we battled the first one, Sebastian one-shotted his Emolga, but got a Static Paralyze, then I forgot to heal it. So when we got to the other one, he was still paralyzed, which made that battle kind of interesting. Still won pretty easily, but I had to actually sit up and focus for a bit.

Got to the base of Twist Mountain and fought Cheren and pulverized him again (poor guy), then met Alder and got the Surf TM. Taught Surf to Carl, then decided to put off Twist Mountain for the time being. Flew home, said hi to Mom, showed my pokedex to the Prof and got the Protect TM, then went up to the water's edge on Route 1 and saved there, ready to go explore.
