It also uses the same connection my desktop does(which my computer is actually really fast when it comes to internet speed), but yet, the speed on the Wii is just abysmal. It's disappointing, really...

Well that has to do with how the browser is programmed and the low processing power and RAM amount of the Wii, as well as the fact that the Wii probably only has wireless at a speed of 10 Mbps, though I'm not entirely certain on that last bit.

Doesn't any USB keyboard work with the Wii? :[ I thought they added that functionality ages ago... and most basic computer stores will have a USB keyboard for no more than $15. (I think my brother got the one we use with our PS3 for like... $5.)

Also my Wii used to be way more adept at internet browsing than my old, old laptop. Haha, it'd go way faster. Now it's the opposite, my netbook is blazing while my Wii struggles to just hold onto the internet connection. >:|

@tmbjr: haha, I got that one too... for my one post. XD;

I got a netbook when my HP laptop died and I love it. I got a desktop earlier this year so the netbook makes a perfect companion to it--if I need to wander the house, I've still got internet access and if I head out on a trip, I have a small computer that doesn't weigh much or take up lots of space and still does what I need.

But my netbook is pretty big as far as netbooks go. I think it's 10"? The keyboard is pretty large so it's not too hard to get used to and the only issue is the resolution (1024x600 ><) but when it's your main computer for a year... you learn to appreciate it.

Then again, it really depends on what kind of trip...like say if I'm going somewhere for a long time, it'd be better if I had a laptop just for battery life's sake or if I'm just gonna be doing a lot of stuff(which I know I'm going to be doing knowing my boredom on trips) which is memory which the netbook sorta doesn't have a lot of.

This is another reason why I prefer laptops, though my laptop actually has poor battery life because it's designed to be more of a space-saving desktop (kinda like how the earliest laptops were).

That said, if I didn't have more important things to spend my money on, I'd probably get a netbook just for the sake of having one.

I got my netbook with an extra 6-cell battery. It doesn't work as well as it used to but I used to get like 6 hours out of the thing with wifi going... if I turned that off, 8+ hours. It was crazy. @_@; Most laptops (I think?) have 6-cell batteries but since they have better specs, they use up a lot more of that battery power. So battery life wasn't really a buying issue for me.

The only issue I ended up having with my netbook (aside from the screen res which was painful for a heavy computer user like me xD) was that... well, I'm a heavy computer user and 1gb of ram just wasn't enough. :( But now that I use my netbook mostly for light browsing and IM instead of *everything*, it's like the best computer ever.

Most laptops get at least 4 or 5 from regular use, but mine only gets 3 hours while sitting there doing nothing, and that drops dramatically to 1.5 hours when I start to do something. I can barely even watch a whole movie on its battery life while doing that, and it is advertised as a mobile BluRay player, which it clearly doesn't do very well. D;

Wait a minute, it was CRYING?! wtf, how did I not notice that? Someone show me, plz? ;~;

If I'm getting a laptop, it better be something like I dunno, at the very least 2 GBs. The reason for this is well...my computer doesn't even have enough space to run Vista(or so I heard from my brother), and yet here I am with it. I mean nothing bad really happens, except when my computer boots sorta slow but that's just about it. .__. 2-3 GB plz.
Even low-end laptops are starting to have 2 GB of RAM consistently these days, I think. Higher-end ones will net you 4+ so... no worries there whenever you upgrade. XD;

Checking my Best Buy site... I'm actually not seeing many 2GB models at all. There's an Acer for ~$400 with 2GB ram but even more computers with 3GB around that price. (Mind you a few are on sale or refurbished but it'd make sense to watch weekly sales anyway if you've got a budget.)

I have a 2GB acer for like $800.

...

Yeah Australia sucks at money.

Aww, sad Mudkip. ;;

I want to get that Dell Inspiron 1545. It's got a reasonable price and a built in webcam is great. A 250GB hard drive isn't too bad, either.

As for colors, I want either Jet Black or Ice Blue. :3

D: And that's recent? Ouch.

Canada usually has ridiculous markups like that but I think the industry realizes that if we get fed up with American prices, we'll just jump the border and buy a computer there. (Even if I don't condone that because apparently a lot of warranties are not international. >:|)

Uhh... February recent, yeah. XD;

Then again this laptop is pretty good so I can't argue! Besides it wasn't even my money. :D

Guys... I... I was viewing the homepage and the strangest thing happened... :(
