On an unrelated note I wrote a poem about Pokemon for my poetry class to highlight how dumb poems about video games are and my poetry teacher loved it. #firstworldproblems
 
Poetry that gets assessed is silly. Besides technical imperfection (which can be argued adds to the poems stylistic elements) it is completely subjective...
 
Well there are values to poetry analysis. Take for example a girl who wrote a poem and submitted it, and we analyzed it today. We all came to the conclusion that it was about abortion. Turns out she had no intentions of making an abortion poem and didn't want that reading to exist. Now she knows so she can change it in the future. ;o

Some of it is dumb though. My teacher keeps telling me to make my rhymes either consistent or not there, and to use specific terms. Both suggestions have their place but I chose my rhyming for a reason, and the use of vague terms (how do you write a specific poem about God I'll never know), so him saying that is just "THESE ARE MY PREFERENCES NOW YOU WRITE LIKE ME".
 
I just know that I hated reading and analyzing poetry in English class back in high school. I didn't even understand where the teacher got half of his ideas of "symbolism" from because I sure as heck didn't see that in the poem.

Methinks analyzing a company's financial report might be more straightforward...
 
The only kind of Poetry I was good at writing were Sonnets. I learned them Senior year, was assigned to do a few, did a bunch of them in my free time. My skills right now are kinda rocky...should teach myself again.
 
The only poem I wrote that my poetry teacher seriously approved of was my villanelle and I think he just has a personal bias towards villanelle.

Can't wait to get out of this class. ;o;
 
I don't even recall what type of poetry I wrote, only that (a) I had to write some poetry, (b) I hated it and probably had a hard time with it, and (c) it probably sucked.

I very well possibly could have written rap lyrics and tried to pass them off as poetry xD

I have an early appointment/meeting (otherwise I'd still be sleeping at this hour lol), so I'm just on PC to post till I leave... it's keeping me awake, at least xD
 
Soo... I just watched the 2012 Nickelodeon KCA's and it was the bomb.
 
Haven't watched Nick in YEARS... None of their current shows really interest me, tbh.

I miss the 90's Nick, and I don't get Teen Nick on my cable so I can't watch that 90's late night block either...
 
I don't really watch Nick either, though, whenever Legend of Korra wants to be released, I will watch it. :O
