I'm kind of annoyed, found out one of my papers is at 9am while the other two are 12 and 2.

By the way, what does everyone study/what is your degree/major?

medical biochemistry because *****es and money and $wag. tho it's basically just chemistry with a little biology learning in it fml.

Good luck with the papers dude D; I'm studying Chemistry! It's so unexciting I might die. Seriously considering dropping out and re-applying next year tbh.

Alex I swear you were doing something with biology haha. In any case tho why do you dislike it so much? Chemistry's pretty cool. ):

Speaking of Chem, I just took my chem 30 final yesterday. I didn't study much, though, and I think it's gonna show. Last question was definitely a curveball, though.
Uh-oh, good luck dude! Hope it didn't go too badly D:

I think it's just completely different to what I was expecting tbh. I had an image in my head of what I thought we'd be doing and it's just completely different haha. I'm doing two Biology modules since we get two optional choices and those are by far my favourites, so I guess I should've chosen Biology (or preferably Zoology)! All the jobs I want aren't really anything I can get with a Chemistry degree but I could with Biology, so... ehh. I've asked about transferring courses but the Chemistry modules are too specialised apparently so it's a no, other than completely reapplying next year.

Hi guys!

I've been deciding between Biology and Chemistry, but I've decided to stick with Chemistry for now, although I'm only taking the intro. Idk, I like it! I got my first test grade back today and was one of the few who got a perfect score (don't mean to brag), but it's a fun class. Very conceptual. I've taken Bio. before and I like it, too, so who knows. Biology, though, involves a lot of memorization. xD I like all of the sciences in general.

well shoite. That really sucks man - although Zoology? Really? d:

At least you've not got to pass this year tho right? One of my friends didn't want to continue with her biochemistry degree and uni said she can swap to mathematics next year but she has to pass this one first. Sucks to be her. But then, it might be easier doing that than doing the whole re-application process again. UCAS ugh. Isn't the application deadline passed now anyway?

Yeah this is why I've been telling people Biology! I want to go into conservation ok ;;

They said I'd have to reapply from scratch like anyone else entering their 1st year since the Chemistry school isn't related to the Biology school apparently. Suuuucks.

Physics is ew. (meaning difficult and mathsy so I suck at it!)

Luckily, most science majors have to take the same similar prereqs., so hopefully it wouldn't affect you too much if you did switch.

True, but that's £9000 and a year of university wasted! And a whole new group of people to meet, a whole group to leave behind, etc... I dunno, there's a lot of issues with both continuing and switching. D:

I'm trying so hard to not be the biochemist who turns his nose up at the conservationists.

I'm failing.

Ugh, that really sucks. So it's offta UCAS with ya now?

Oh, wow, that completely sucks & it also goes back to what I was VMing you about. :| Were you deep into the program? And I know it's a hassle switching regardless.

Nah, I think I'll stick with the Chemistry course. I've heard it gets a lot better in Year 2/3 and there's more opportunities to specialise etc, so fingers crossed it'll be okay! Is the biochem what you expected?

That'd be the easiest and cheapest option definitely! Hope it improves some.

Biochem is 10000000% more chemistry than I expected like damn. Of course I knew it'd be in there but I thought it'd be some 50/50 or something like that. In reality, nah - I do more chemistry than the chemical engineer I live with haha - although after seeing some of the stuff he does I can see why that's the case. But in any case it's not what I expected but I'm realllllly happy that it's turned out this way. Looking at normal biology students now, it just seems kinda dull when there's so much chemistry to be learning behind it.

i have biological sciences
it's super easy
i'm waiting for AP someday
it's so boring

Yeah, I got tired of biology quick because it's practically all memorization. It's interesting and all, but I just couldn't relate to the material and derive it in my mind. I basically aced all the tests because I kept repeating the information in my head over and over.

Btw, did you guys hear about the American that rode a 100-ft wave? It's pretty cool. My question is what happened to that monster wave once it was all set and done? xD Here's the image and article:

Professional surfer, Garrett McNamara, aka Gmac, may have broken another record. This Tuesday off the coast of Nazaré, Portugal, McNamara caught a wave that onlookers estimated to be about 100 feet high.

The 45-year-old Pittsfield, Mass., native is known for breaking surfing records. In November 2011, McNamara rode an enormous 90-foot wave at Praia do Norte, also off the coast of Nazaré, Portugal. For that accomplishment, "Gmac" was entered in the spring Billabong XXL Global Big-Wave Awards.

I have a question for anyone and everyone;

Did any of you take Physics in highschool? If you did, what did you need it for?

I have physics class today. And do you mean like stationary and stuff?

Yeah. I took Physics 20 in my first semester of Grade 11 (which was this year) and I didn't do so well. I ended up almost failing. Not sure why I took it, seeing as I don't even need it. I'm not continuing on to Physics 30, but I was just wondering what everyone's opinions was on it, and how they're doing in it.
