Like we have a Congrats to our newest member at the bottom of the page, we should have one for new mods.

    EDIT:
How about also a "Congrats to our newest supporter"?

I've never... thought about that before. XD

Though, we do the Celebration threads that get plenty of attention, and new mods never go unnoticed.

I don't see the point really, mods aren't exactly chosen frequently, so the newest in question may just be on there for a while, resulting in dull VM's saying "congratulations" even after a while of given the position. :x Just my take. Maybe one for the newest Supporter would be a better idea.

I wouldn't mind having that for a week after a promotion, and then remove it until next time.

Problem is, it might be too much work if it has to be done manually.

Well, about the celebration threads it depends, for example it I wasn't friends with Ozzy, nor frequented his club I'd never notice he was modded
When I saw his name in blue,I'd just think he was a mod I missed seeing or something
    But being modded isn't exactly a common thing,so ...

I think PC is more than informed when a new moderator is made. And as Live_Wire said, the Celebrations subforum isn't hard to find unless you're completely new; in which case the promotion won't mean very much to you, probably.

I was the last to get modded (unless someone else has recently in which case this thread really would be a good idea!) but in my experience there were already 2 separate threads celebrating this (one made by Hikari10 in the Celebration section and one in a general welcome thread), which mixed with the constant VMs and PMs saying "well done!", seemed like more then enough to me; it was even hard to keep up with at times! But yeah, I certainly feel like the majority of members that I'll be working with and coming into contact with found out I was made moderator within 3/4 days max, so I'm not sure how useful this thread would actually be...

More compelling since new supporters don't get as much attention as new moderators. It'd be annoying if it had to be set manually though, which I imagine it would be unless there was a way for vB to distinguish between a new supporter and a tier change.

However supportership isn't really an achievement. It's noteworthy, but worth celebrating? It's a kind act, sure, but idk if it's worth notifying the whole forum.

I like the Supporter idea better.

Like people said before, mods don't get chosen often, so the same thing would be there for months on end. But the Supporter idea is pretty cool, imo.

I wouldn't mind supporter or mod, but the thing about the mod notification is like what AOC already said. New mods are already noticed and congrats easily, and profiles are spammed up. Hard to keep tabs on all the stuff you gotta reply to. The bold blue name and celebration thread should be enough to notice, really. As for supporters, idk. It's not too big of an accomplishment, but it's still pretty nice to see people get it/donate for it. So I think it'd be a nice feature.

I'd personally be in favor of a Supporter one since that extra attention could be an extra incentive for people to donate (appealing to vanity). When you're a new mod you tend to get swamped with congratulation messages either way, so even though it's a notable achievement many newer mods would probably rather not have still be getting congrats messages a whole month after they were promoted.

Agreed. PC needs money. Simple as that.
While I have respect for those who donate despite the perks, perks will draw in more donors.

Perhaps instead of "congrats to our newest supporter" maybe have it as "thanks for donating, username!" or whatever.

Absolutely seconding what Syd just said. If there's a way to automate it I'd definitely be all for putting this in.
