When continuity happens, it happens well. I love stuff like Ash's Aura powers and that kind of thing that gets used multiple times to great effect. And even just recurring characters who are canonically having their own journeys and experiences at the same time? tbh I think PokéAni is fairly good about continuity for a series that has gone on this frickin long with so many different styles of writing and animation (yes, animation continuity is a thing too!)

For me If you compare it to other long running anime... Pokemon can get a little lazy with preserving their continuity (Especially compared to other 600+ episode shows like One Piece or Detective Conan) in the end it still does retain its continuity with off handed comments addressing Ash/Satoshi's past actions/adventures.
