Every game has a Demerit so what demerit did Pokemon D/P/pt games had in your opinion, what things could have they done better in your opinion?

For me i think they could have add Pokemon following system like HG/SS and they could have made Safari zone a little better, i didn't liked the one in D/P/pt

Not sure how they could have been better, perhaps more apps for the Pokétch could have been made?

I thought Pokémon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum were great games. The only problem I can think of is that the saving time in Diamond/Pearl were atrocious. Otherwise I think that Gen 4 is kind of underrated... it's certainly better than Gen 1, really.

Personally, I wish Game Freak had added more Fire types in the Sinnoh dex in Diamond and Pearl. Hell, they could've added all the cross-gen evolution lines, like Magnezone, Magmortar, etc. from the beginning!

Also, they should've made an evolution for Chimecho instead of a baby. Also, they should've made an evolution for Jynx.

I...honestly dont know. The only thing I can think of is that they could've made the night darker. I like them windows at night having light shine through them.

Diamond & Pearl's speed and Pokedex distribution should have been better, at least Platinum fixed those issues. Oh, and as Odyssey mentioned, the atrociously long saving time that mentions "saving a lot of data".

Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum were great in their own right, and I have definitely enjoyed playing through. Though, I still have a couple of things with these games that I didn't quite like.

Off top of my head, one would be music. Some of them were rather phenomenal--Sandgem Town and Cynthia battle themes, for example--but there were also those that were sort of... slow-paced and lazy, so to speak. One example of this would be Hearthome City. If they had made those music bright and vibrant like others, I believe things would have been more good in general; it would've helped giving us more of a memorable experience.

Second would be Pokémon. They did introduce a lot of new ones (with two of my most favorites being Empoleon and Garchomp), as well as evolutions and pre-evolutions, but even so, I feel it would have been better if there were possibly more of latter (evolutions and pre-evolutions of older Pokémon) rather than former. Not everybody feels the same way, however; this is sort of a personal preference thing.

I dislike DP Because No Fire Types Ok I Can Live With That And Elite Fours Only Cynthia Was Hard(Damn Milotic)+Pokemon Contest and Puffins(I hate Making Poffins)+Those Honey trees(Why cant they Make Munchlax available in Grass)

Other people have already said it, but only two fire Pokemon in an entire game and one of them is a starter. I'd like to know who got the genius award for that. Not to mention Pokemon that were actually introduced during this region you couldn't get until after receiving the national dex after you beat the game.

There were quite a few baby additions for Pokemon no one really cares about and then some final stage additions that were just awkward looking, though some I enjoy. A lot of pointless legendaries too, though that can be ignored.

Another thing I remember is the horrible level split between when you get through victory road and facing the e4. Every time I would be like 10 or so levels behind where I needed to be so grinding made the end game painful. Lastly in a region of two fire types they made a fire specialist elite four member and then made him up a team of only two fire types. Genius awards all around.

These games were amazing, so it's tricky to pick out flaws here. But the ones I can think of off the top of my head are the overall speed of the game, but this accounted for Diamond and Pearl rather than Platinum which was seemingly quicker. I also think that there could have been a few more Pokemon added to the game in general here, because when you look at the Fire-types especially, you notice they are lacking.

I could be wrong, but in P/D/Pl, I feel as though the Exp. gain was slightly lesser than in other games. It felt like my Pokemon took longer to level up than in other games. I wasn't really big on any of the starter Pokemon other than Piplup personally, and I feel there was a superfluous number of Legendary Pokemon introduced that felt insignificant compared to previous generations. In Gen 1, the birds and Mew's were all given storyline, and then in Gen 2, the Elemental Beasts and Legendary birds were given story, as did the Regi, Space, and Weather Trio. Gen 4 had Heatran, Cresselia, the Lake Spirits, the Time/Space/Antimatter, Shaymin, Darkrai, Arceus, Regigigas, Rotom (sorta), and very few of them do I actually know a backing story to that was integrated into the game.
