[1:32:45 AM] Alex: omg your flying club stories XD
[1:32:50 AM] Alex: i will continue it in my next post 8D
GET HYPED FOR PART 2 GUYS
Hi Pendra, welcome! I had a Crobat in HG/SS called BATMAAAN. Don't think it was the most creative thing I could of come up with but hey, it was pretty cool! As my ace card finish off weak opponents, I really loved how it kept the momentum going in a battle through U-Turn and other moves. It was really good at taking down teams by itself too. Zubat and Golbat are the bane of my existence though. :(
I like Altaria as well! Already said it earlier but it's really fluffy and cute. I did use one for a while in Platinum though I don't remember much outside of its design. What about you? :]
Oh I love a lot of Australian birds! I see loads of rainbow lorikeets and cockatoos out in my backyard. I agree with you though, it'd be awesome to see a cockatoo or just generally any Australian bird as a pokemon. They're all really colourful and pretty. :D
Aw thank you! It's amazing what people can come up with when they're bored haha.
And no problem, I've never really known much about dinosaurs other than a general interest in them. Yeah I've heard about the bird - dinosaur thing, that was always really cool and definitely a factor of why I liked them in general. Makes them feel a lot more special compared to all the land animals we see nowadays.
Go play X/Y right now! I liked sky battles as they seemed more challenging than regular battles. Since most people usually only run one flying type on their team, it was like a 1 v 1 between who had the stronger pokemon. The actual battles themselves aren't too hard though I really like the whole 'fight in the sky' sort of idea. Imagine if it was like medieval jousting though! That'd be scary.
WHAT
Okay I agree actually! While I can't say I'm in love with its beard yet. I do like Articuno's design enough to ignore it and say that its design is the most detailed of the three.
Also while we're talking about the three birds - does anyone remember Pokemon 2000? My memory's fuzzy since I haven't watched it since the GT one or two years ago but I believe the plot focused around Lugia and a man attempting to catch the legendary trio. How do you guys feel about the flying type legendaries in this movie? I was disgusted at the man's caging of birds since he was a) an awful character and b) his usage of electricity (or some other power) to stop them from trying to break free was really cruel. :( As for Lugia, I honestly don't remember what it did so can't really comment there.
I think it's more like the first stage of flying types are generally cute until they develop into their final form which reflects them as strong and fierce. Its like that with almost all pokemon with the transition from baby to adult. But yeah I've always thought of birds of prey more than the normal pigeons we see in everyday life when it comes to flying types!
Think they just used normal/flying for birds based off those in real life or with no real power that sets them apart from an already existing creature. We've got flaming birds, psychic birds and flying dragons but we also have birds that are strong but based off species in real life like pigeons or eagles. You already mentioned that though but I think normal's just there to define the bird as something that could probably exist in real life.
They should make an outdoor flying type gym actually. I think it'd really add more to the feel of a gym battle if they were to make it so that the player fought high up on a platform (such as Faulkner) or outdoors where their's a true test of the aim and agility of a person's pokemon. Though it'd do nothing more than give it a more anime-style battle, it'd still be pretty cool. :D
That or he joined so his family wouldn't get murdered. ;]
Says you. It's not my fault that you always give me a lot to reply to. :(
Yeah I agree with you there! I feel like people who love the more underappreciated pokemon generally have more special reasons for doing so. That's cool though - I never did raise Dinner to level 100. In fact the highest I've ever gotten a pokemon was to level 88 or something. Too much effort, yo. Still I appreciate Pidgey and I see why it'd become your favourite based on how the first pokemon you raise are generally your more treasured ones.
Definitely. I think a lot of my first playthrough of Platinum was trial and error though as I played more of the games, I began to realise what was generally gonna be strong and what wasn't. As I kept experimenting with flying pokemon, I always did a bit of background research on what pokemon appeared where and made my judgement from there. First route birds can be strong (such as Staraptor or Talonflame) though after a couple of games I also tried some more uncommon ones like Crobat, Xatu and all the dragons. I really like experimenting with all the different flying types though, they're really diverse.
Well don't worry! In the next segment of the story, depending on what Alex comes up with, it could turn into a chase across the world. Maybe we'll see some South-East Asia action then, huh?
Don't remind me. :((
Honestly doesn't change my opinion since Arcanine's practically a legendary in my head anyway but I can say that I'm a little sad. Dream ruined Lads.

GET HYPED FOR PART 2 GUYS
Alright, let's join, why don't we.
Name: Pendraflare
Your two partner Pokémon: Crobat (Vampira) and Altaria (Serenade)
Reason for liking Flying-type Pokémon: There are so many different ones and they have different types, every type to date has been paired with them so there are lots to go with.
As for my favorite Flying-type Pokémon, it's a toss-up between the two I just mentioned.
I like Altaria as well! Already said it earlier but it's really fluffy and cute. I did use one for a while in Platinum though I don't remember much outside of its design. What about you? :]
My favourite group of birds, the raptors, already have plenty of pokemon based off them, so I'd like to see a colourful parrot pokemon, maybe based off an Australian species? There are plenty of unique and beautiful Cockatoo species, such as Sulphur-Crested, Major Mitchell's, Galah and Black Cockatoos.
Oh I love a lot of Australian birds! I see loads of rainbow lorikeets and cockatoos out in my backyard. I agree with you though, it'd be awesome to see a cockatoo or just generally any Australian bird as a pokemon. They're all really colourful and pretty. :D
This is a great story, love it! ^_^
However, I just want to correct you on something- Pterodactyls aren't dinosaurs, they're a species of of Pterosaur, a closely related yet distinctly separate family. I'm sorry, prehistoric life is kinda my thing so I couldn't help but say something :3c
I've got some good news though, birds are so closely related to dinosaurs that they ARE in fact dinosaurs. That means you can go around telling people "I ate dinosaur for dinner last night" and you wouldn't be wrong! Yet another reason why I love birds and the flying type- they're the surviving relics of a magnificent era long passed. :)
That's fair! Despite loving Flying types so much, I've yet to try them myself as well, though that's mainly due to not having played X&Y yet. In any case, I really love the concept. Even if it doesn't really change that much, it's just a cool aesthetic feature, that would just add to the experience, and I'd just want to try it just to experience it :D
And there's no question that the design is the best of the three, especially with that beard :D
WHAT

I've always personally found Flying types to be more fierce and graceful that I've found them to be cute, but I can definitely see where you're coming from.
Definitely this! I honestly never noticed that the dual typing was a thing that applied for almost every Flying type, although I did notice that most bird Pokemon that didn't carry any kind of theme to it are always made Normal/Flying.
It makes sense for gym battles to take place indoors to remove this advantage, though I believe most battles with Flying type gym leaders have taken place outdoors in the anime, so I don't know how much that applies there haha.
Don't worry about him. He knows, he's just being a troll haha :p
That or he joined so his family wouldn't get murdered. ;]
Goddamnit Sophie, your post was so long that it became really difficult to move it in the editor :( (also sorry for responding to your post last but 2 long man stop being me)
Says you. It's not my fault that you always give me a lot to reply to. :(
I LIKE PIDGEY
Yeah I agree with you there! I feel like people who love the more underappreciated pokemon generally have more special reasons for doing so. That's cool though - I never did raise Dinner to level 100. In fact the highest I've ever gotten a pokemon was to level 88 or something. Too much effort, yo. I do think that placing Pokemon earlier on in the game does a lot to the likelihood of catching it, especially if you're a new player to the games.
Definitely. I think a lot of my first playthrough of Platinum was trial and error though as I played more of the games, I began to realise what was generally gonna be strong and what wasn't. As I kept experimenting with flying pokemon, I always did a bit of background research on what pokemon appeared where and made my judgement from there. I really like experimenting with all the different flying types though, they're really diverse.
That was a wild ride from start to finish. Still would've been more realistic if it had happened in South-East Asia though.
Well don't worry! In the next segment of the story, depending on what Alex comes up with, it could turn into a chase across the world. Maybe we'll see some South-East Asia action then, huh?
y u hatin on articuno's beard :(( I honestly forgot that Moltres was based on a phoenix though, so seems legit :D But would it still be your favourite if you learned that it stole Arcanine's spot as a legendary Pokemon? Would you, Rainbow Arcanine?!
Don't remind me. :((
Honestly doesn't change my opinion since Arcanine's practically a legendary in my head anyway but I can say that I'm a little sad. Dream ruined Lads.
Alright guys! For those who've been following it, our club's Pidgey has now evolved into a beautiful Pidgeotto, and is currently in the process of learning Whirlwind.
