So what would happen if someone was talking in third person but they were actually serious?

It'd totally think they were fabricating it (lying,) or making fun of the situation. I can't take it seriously, because if it's something personal, you wouldn't talk about it as if you were outside of the situation. 3rd person would make it totally impersonal.

I was implying Japanese maid-cafe girls with cat ear headbands that walk around with their wrists curled under while trying to do naive schoolgirl impersonations while interjecting the word "nyah~" every 3 sentences.

Some people find this very cute...

Then again.. some people also find the sight of two women making out exciting and awesome.
