Tales of Phantasia's characters have no character. If it ended up as a novel as the original intent had been- it would not have gone as well as if they had made a revolutionary SNES game.

Also, I'm sort of confused by your placement/wording. Are you talking about the character design of Arche?...
Both. I rather like the personality and character design of Arche. I didn't care for the others.
YES. That game is so fun... i wanna play snes nao...

To be honest, the game wasn't really that great. The characters were the best thing about the game by far, but the gameplay was so horribly broken.

The characters are the only reasons I ever play Tales games these days. :( I'll be buying Graces if only to up the count so that Namco won't be so shy when it comes to localizing other Tales games but... I'm worried I won't like the characters since I already hate all their designs. @_@

Now that I think of it, I don't think I've had any interest in any games even published by Namco Bandai. The only one I'm excited for right now is Dark Souls, which is looking to be even more fantastic than Demon's Souls.

Really? We're talking about her current character design, not the one in her SNES appearance... Right...?

I mean, I like her hair, but why exactly does she have a sailor suit when she lives in the mountains...? :/

The designs are bad, the characters themselves are good. There's some subbed gameplay up on youtube if you want to look at that. It doesn't cover much (in fact, it covers the most boring part of the game... -_- It has a slow start.) but it does show that the characters are far from boring.

Well, I'll be playing it anyway so I'll just see them when I get the game. @_@ I shall try to be open-minded though. If I can get through this Destiny-team game, maybe I'll be inspired to go back and try some of the others.

I think so, haha. :(

I'm mostly used to Nomura's Square-Enix designs by now. I don't even double-take when I see zippers on hats or 5 belts in weird places anymore. XD; I just roll my eyes and get on with it. FF13 wasn't too bad for that, though.

Just about.

Nomura has waned in quality in my opinion. I don't mind his androgynous pretty boy designs, but I do mind if their clothing is extremely impractical. I can't imagine that all of Lightning's belts are actually useful.
I really like the design that Final Fantasy Versus XIII has though.

I really like the designs in XIII Versus too. There are even some guys with FACIAL HAIR instead of just androgynes. It's so exciting for a JRPG.

They're alright, except that I can't see them being able to fight. They look too much like super models.

Well, you have to remember that even if it isn't a JRPG(where real life equipment means absolutely nothing), they are l'cie. God, they really couldn't make that name more pronounceable. This isn't HP Lovecraft.

I thought it was the same sort of universe but different worlds... honestly, I have no idea what the link in the FF13 games are. x_x It's ridiculous.

Regardless, there's no excuse for words like "l'Cie". :(

Someone translated the trailer, and it seems that there is also similar mythos. However, l'Cie marks are viewed as a gift instead of a wicked mark. Kinda fits the theme that Final Fantasy Versus XIII is going for, since it's supposed to be opposite to Final Fantasy XIII.

I know in trailers they showed some upscale, high-class sort of parties. So I imagine they're from upper class or the game starts mid-party or something like that. :P

I'm excited for FF13 Versus... not only does it intrigue me but once it's done, the KH team can finally go work on KH3. ;_;

Ya know, I played Final Fantasy XIII.

To be honest, it was very confusing for me. Even if it was linear, I didn't understand the fights.

Also, FF13 Versus sounds nice.

And I am listening to Giratina's theme.
