The last Harry Potter book was released in July 2007 or about there, which was only 3 and a half years ago, .Fenris. That's not that long ago at all. And they've also been releasing movies every year or two. And it had a rabid following right up to the end of the book releases that still, for the most part, packs movie theaters to see the Harry Potter movies that have been released since then. Just because you and most people you know have lost interest in it, doesn't mean everyone has. PC's actually got quite a few Harry Potter fans, as evidenced by the discussion on the last two pages.

It's essentially the most successful series of books in...ever? Of course people will remember it. They'll remember it 50 years down the line when they remake the moves. :P

I don't think it's going to change the face literature and whatnot, but it's gotten a few generations of kids into reading and that's always great.

(well, the same can be said for Twilight, but I'd like to think Harry Potter is above that)
 
Twilight will die quickly, as society moves towards a more liberal society (especially).

We can't say much right now though, because we're still in the midst between movies.

I'd surely encourage any younger person to read Harry Potter though. XD

What's nice about HP (besides other more obvious things on themes and such), is that the mention of technology and such isn't prominent, making the book a little bit more "timeless".

Twilight will die soon, trust me. I've read the latest or last or whatever book out of sheer spite, it wasn't that good of a read. Don;t get me wrong, I can like mainstream stuff as well, despite my peers, as long as it's good, I'll like it.

But in my honest, unbiased opinion, Twilight and it's descendants are not that good. If it wasn't for the repetitiveness of it, it could've been decent.

I'm just surprised that something with such horrible values (not counting the bad writing), got to be so popular...

Like stalking, pedophilia and other criminal offenses are okay in Bella's world, but you have to wait to be married before the two can copulate... ? wahh?

Yeah. I'd be pretty scared if someone followed me around all the time...


&& Did you know Stephanie Meyer is planning to rewrite the original Twilight from Edward's point of view. I could imagine every scene that Edward isn't in starting with: "As I watched her from afar...

Fortunately for us (for the time being anyway), the transcript of Edward's point of view was leaked online. I believe she is blaming it on others, but it's clearly her fault (all her fans will blame it on the "haters"). That being said, she published the first some pages online, and was unsure whether or not she would write/publish the rest.

We can only hope she stays in her cave... That and the beginning portion has already been published, so I don't think she's allowed to further publish it in book. Though I'm not sure how that works.

Well thank the maker for that. How could somebody have leaked an transcript online? I mean.. did she like hand it to people "HERE IS MY TRANSCRIPT, I HOPE U LIEKS IT *eyeshouldertwitch*" That.. or she went to some untrustworthy publishers
 
Reminded me of that quiz in YouTube about Harry Potter. When you get the first answer wrong, the host says "wrong, you like Twilight, don't you?". xD
 
A preference for twilight if you don't like Harry Potter isn't a necessity.
Take me for example. Not that I don't like Harry Potter. I do like Harry Potter to a mild extent, but oh god twilight. .__.
 
I don't really hate the Twilight series as a series. They are decent books.I loathe what is had made of people, and the social icon it is.
 
I read twilight and most of newmoon, so far I have watched all 3 movies (cept the last half of the 4rd one)

I never read harry potter, watched some of the movies..Zzzz. kidding
Twilight was enjoyable besides some bad writting I guess.

About the leaking, she would have to hand it over to be leaked really.. which sucks. She should contunie
 
I haven't and don't plan on reading the Twilight novels, however I have seen the movies which have been released, and they are entertaining. Not amazingly made, but they are not bad films.
