I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that Near and Mello in the anime weren't as interesting as L.

I loved everything about L and his uniquity.<3

Unfortunately for fans of the English dub, Hulu currently doesn't have the rights to stream the dubbed version. However, you may purchase the DVDs from VIZ Media's site (first box set, second box set); these include both the Japanese audio tracks with English subtitles and the English audio tracks.
 
Death Note started off great, but for some reason I got bored after episode 17. Still not sure why either.

that reminds me...the other day, i bought the Death Note replica ...i dont write in it...lol..i just stare at it..you know..the comtemplation...lmao..but...it so cooll....seeing the names that Light wrote in it...*looks*

I've watched a few episodes of the anime and read several volumes of the manga, and I think it's pretty cool. I can't stand some parts of its fanbase, though. From the way some people talk about it one would think it's a yaoi anime, but it's not.
 
I agree with those that say Death Note was better before L died. I found Near and Mello to be weak characters when compared with L, Mello more so than Near, however.
It was better before, but I don't think it was terrible after L died. Mikami and Takada were both good characters, imo. It was certainly still worth watching.
I had mixed feelings about the ending, I thought that Light should be caught eventually. I didn't like how he was caught though.

Death Note would have to be one of my favorite anime of all time. I'm not sure about others but I actually support the release (Got Box Sets 1 and 2, Re-Light 1: Visions of a God and the first live action movie.) That's almost all the releases in America.

I also have made fandubs (Yeah, the dreaded f-word that people seem to hate) and parodies of Death Note on my YouTube profile, it was fun to do my favorite scene. I parents don't care either, they actually support me trying to become a VA, even if I'm doing something like that scene. It's fun to do Ryuk's voice to. I've also made DN parodies in... yep, South Park style.

Also, in DarkCopper, the Fire Red ROM hack I'm doing, L makes an appearance, and I might just make Light leader of the evil (against you) team in the game.

Anyways, I plan to keep supporting the releases, like buy the other two live action movies and the second Re-Light, whenever that comes out.

Plus, if anyone's wondering, it's still on [adult swim] at about 3:00 AM on Saturdays.
 
My favourite part is when the police meet L for the first time, and he pretends to shoot them. XD It's especially funny in the sub. Though Light's breakdown at the end is epic. Best. Maniacal. Laugh. Ever.

Death note was great. Too bad I thought differently about the movies.

OMG! Death Note is great! I didn't like it at first, and I saw it a few times without much interest. Then, sometime around a few months ago, I fell in love with it! I watched the ending a few weeks ago, and now I am currently watching the reruns. L is so freaking badass!

Near was amazing...does that make him smarter than L?
 
i think its more than a indefinite answer

they were all smart
they just all had there strong points over each other
 
Didn't Near say that he wasn't as smart as L but if he combined his strengths with Mello, they were smarter than L and Light.
 
Weird, I thought the series didn't start getting good until what happened to L. Near became my favorite character by the end of the series, though L is a close second. I don't like Mello.

Awesome series, it's a must watch/read for any fan of anime or detective stories in general.
 
I preferred Mello to Near, probably because in my opinion Near was too much like L, which therefore made him seem almost like a wannabe in comparison. XD Then again, I'm biased because L's my favourite character. :3
