Hmm...nyeh, maybe...but I wouldn't know, I hadn't seen any of it..

CharMz said:Yeah..I do agree....but then again, no one could care less what the actors did...everyone just wants to see something blow up..
...or good actors for that matter.Chairman Kaga said:That's because being raised by television has caused this generation to not care as long as they're entertained...Wizard of Oz was in a time before television; therefore it was, at the time, the most amazing thing ever to be produced and shown. I miss the days when people liked a movie because it was innocent, not because it was devoid of innocence <_<;

CharMz said:Bleh, isn't that what television is supposed to do..? Aside from educational channels and other advertisements that is...
People=Friggin confusing.
Not really. Back then all TV did was paint a pretty picture of how the ideal American family should act. Now all it does is place pretty people into situations that'd get them killed in real life...but they're able to somehow come out unharmed, as long as they look good.Chairman Kaga said:Yes, but in the 1950s, everything on television had meaning and was a supplement to life, not a replacement for it.

CharMz said:The 1950s was also a time of boredom...well to those who stay in the house anyway..XD

It was, they were worried about bombs being dropped.CharMz said:I thought they called it the cold war because there was no fighting...O_o

Well, what you said is true. But America was in the Korean War at that time and a few years later, Vietman started off. That lasted to the 70's and then the various Middle East insidents, the Libya Conflict, Desert Shield, Desert Storm. That takes us up to the eairly 90's right there.

Chairman Kaga said:The way I see it, the 1950s television view of life was still more realistic for its representative time perior than the 2000s television view of life is of the present day...I suppose if one good thing came of the way life was portrayed then it gave people something to aspire to that would actually benefit society, not like today's television examples.
Plate of tacoritos, comin' up...
CharMz said:Bleh, at least now I guess I'll be ready on the lesson on the Cold War....which should be next month..
True, now it's either kids wanting to be emo/street or adults wanting to be sluts and drunks. Back then people at least wanted to be something good. I love how far down the world has come.Chairman Kaga said:The way I see it, the 1950s television view of life was still more realistic for its representative time perior than the 2000s television view of life is of the present day...I suppose if one good thing came of the way life was portrayed then it gave people something to aspire to that would actually benefit society, not like today's television examples.
