4th Gen Diamond / Pearl Q&A Thread

Nature has no effect on IVs.
When IVs are being decided, 3 stats will come from the parents (That's 3 total, not 3 from each parent). This is random, you may end up inheriting 3 from the mother, or 2 from 1 parent and 1 from the other ect. However if the two parents share an IV (eg both have 31 speed) that will definately be passed down, and 2 will be randomly inherited. The other 3 stats are just completely random.

So if they have all the same IVs, will they all be inherited?

Thanks, but remember to answer this qestion too!

I put 2 Blaziken (Female and Male, of course) in the Daycare Center, but the old man told me they two seems prefer to play with other Pokemon... They suppose to be love playing to each other or something like that... Does the Nature has something to do with breeding?

Pretty much, but the odds are astronomical.

Nature has absolutely nothing to do with breeding. The likelihood of two pokemon breeding is dependant on egg group, species and OT. Assuming two pokes are in the same egg group and different genders, they will breed at the following speeds:

Same Species and Same OT: Breed slowly
Same Species and Different OT or Different Species and same OT: Breed normally
Different Species and Diifferent OT: Breed Quickly

Natures don't affect breeding. My guess is that you messed up somewhere along the way- are you sure the two Blazikens are different genders?

Hahaha, of course I wouldn't mistake them, male one has long 'hair', his 'spouse' has shorter 'hair'. The OT are different, the male one is hatch in Sinnoh while the female is migrate from Sinnoh. I DO NOT use cheating device.

That's really a bad way to check gender...

Either way, take both of the Blazikens out, and check their genders again. If they really were both male and female, then you wouldn't have gotten that message.

I agree with AC, that's the worst way to check the gender, especially since most Pokemon have minute differences between the genders. A far more acurate way to check is to look at the symbol next to their name- if it has the male symbol, it's male, if it has the female symbol, it's female. I'm in awe you don't use that

Is IV and Nature related, let's say the Piplup has Modest Nature so does that mean the Piplup's IV on Sp. Atk will be higher?

Gofre already said Nature and IVs weren't related, but I'd like to elaborate.
Natures add 10 percent to a certain stat and subtract 10 percent from a certain stat. Modest, as you mention, raises Sp. Atk. This does not make his IVs any different, but makes his Sp. Atk stat 10 percent stronger (as opposed to a neutral Sp. Atk nature like Timid). On the same token, Modest will lower Piplup's Attack stat 10 percent. At level 100, this could be a large difference.
Another note: Hardy, Docile, Serious, Bashful, and Quirky all raise and lower the same stat, meaning they are completely neutral.

leveling

What would be the fastest way to level up low level pokemon after just beating the elite four?

Put the Pokemon in the lead position and go hunting for wild Pokemon on the northern Island. On the first turn just switch to a different Pokemon and KO the wild Pokemon.

This is the method I use for EV training, and by the time I'm finished the Pokemon is able to fight on it's own against some trainers' Pokemon.

Though, if you want to have the little guy battle his/herself, go north of Solaceon Town and use the VS. Checker right in the spot where the Psyduck blocking the road used to be. There is a female trainer there with a Happiny. If you give your Pokemon a Lucky Egg, s/he is almost guaranteed to go up at least one level every battle until s/he gets somewhere in the late 20's/early 30's.

Mmm, no. At least, I've tried it with my brother a few times. Feel free to give it a shot, though.

Give it a EXP Share and battle the E4 a bunch with your best Poke.

if my friend got the member card (or something) from the toys r us event (the one that he used to go to the Pokemart and get Darkrai). Would he be able to send that to me through mystery gift?

No, you can't send it. Also, the Member Card wasn't given out at the Toys 'R Us Event. Darkrai himself was.

1) Can cloning on GTS mess up your game?
2) What is a BadEgg?

Gts cloning is safe, just takes precise timing and dont panic about the corrupted message.

A bad egg only happens to hackers, it can freeze your game and wont hatch.

The gender is right... I wouldn't really be stupid to check the genders in that way... I just told you the difference so you could know what genders did I put...

Anyway I got that message I again when I put 2 different genders of Swinub in the Daycare Center, but this time the old man gives me the egg...

I caught a Lv4 Staravia on the lake near Twinleaf Town... But the Pokedexdidn't listed that Staravia can be catch on the first lake.

That's the unfortunate thing about breeding. You can say, "oh, they don't like each other" all day, but it's a very specific message that decides if they will breed.

Anything besides "They prefer to play with other Pokémon" is acceptable.
