Do you feel that Black and White were more for kids?

No, it's the same, possibly harder. My little brother and all his friends can barely get past Nimbasa City without help.

It had a deeper story.
On the other hand, it did dumb a few things down. They filtered names, made TMs reusable, and made poison almost exactly like burn. Still a great game, nonetheless.

I want to say the battles were also a lot easier, but it might just be me getting older.

I thought it was the same as all other games. It had its challenges, versing Ghetis and N after the E4, the outrageous level jumps, traveling back and fourth through the map etc. With the lack of Surf it just had straight forward routes (except P2 lab and route 18) so there were easy and hard parts.

As for the game being suited for children, I think all the games are suited from young children to young adults. There are various levels of complexities in pokemon and I think B/W was the same.

The Pokemon series has always been a game primarily aimed at kids but generally has a peripheral demographic. I don't see how it is any different with Black and White.

There is a difference between dumbing down and improving. What does filtering names have to do with a dumbing the game? Is it about Cofagrigus because that would be a security issue not a gameplay one. TMs being reusable just removes the incredibly tedious task of getting the TMs over and over again. Removing the out-of-battle poison damage is a good thing. I would actually be amazed if anyone actually liked having their Pokemon getting damaged constantly for having poison out-of-battle.

Dumbing down would be something like simplifying the battle system, like removing the hidden values and such. Those changes you mentioned were just made for convenience.

Besides all the random doctors and nurses everywhere, and the "fall behind in training and get more exp so it's easier to catch up" part of it, Black and White seemed pretty similar to other games. However, the whole storyline and plot this time around seemed a little more complicated. Or is it just me?

Not really. It's still simillar to the older games. Pokemon Ranger Shadows of Almia was for kids. It's less kid-friendly this time around in my opinion.
But that's me.

It also makes it less difficult.
And censoring nicknames is just dumb. When you do random matchup, or GTS--the names go back to their defaults, anyways.

I actually didnt realise the out of battle poison was gone :O I avoided it totally so I didnt see whther it was the place.

i think all the pokemon games are similiar to each other and aren't just for kids.

Depends. I thought it was pretty hard the first time because of the absence of the VS.Seeker/PokeGear or any way to re-battle trainers, and the fact that trainers seem to have big jumps in levels every so often.

Especially after the story is done when you go from Lv45-50 Pokemon to Lv65+ ones right off the bat.

The various doctors/nurses everywhere just made it less tedious to run and get to a Poke Center every 5 minutes.

It's a step up from D/P/PT, for me it's more for the slightly older generation now, that was their intention too for it not to be just for kids.

The storyline seems to be geared toward older players, even if the difficulty of the opponents (especially the low level pre E4 and the fact that no Gym Leader has more than three Pokemon, so I think it evens itself out... IMO it's no more or less kid-oriented than other games in the franchise.

Quite the opposite to say the least. The game had the best story and villains. Best characters, and the villains seemed much more tuned to the more mature people.

Basically I compared the villains like this:

Team Rocket: MOAR MONEYZZZZZZZZZZZ
Team Aqua: MOAR OCEAN, NO LAND
Team Magma: NO OCEAN, MOAR LAND
Team Galactic: DESTROY THE WORLD AND CREATE A NEW ONE
Team Plasma: Free Pokemon from the oppressors! Also, we have N.

I find the story to be more suited for the older peeps, in that it isn't very childish, especially the villains, they actually had a REALISTIC and GOOD-WILLED cause. Though the ways they executed them were less than admirable, which made them villains. Anyhow, I just overall find it to be the opposite.

I did find pokemon black (the game i got) to be very similar to other pokemon games in the series, but i find that they (being GameFreak) put more effort in the "extras" you can do.

As stated before by other members, I too feel it was easy to beat but it did have a more mature plot than the games before it. Do I feel it is more childish ? No

Lololololololololroflololololmaolololotrololololo-no.
Imo, this generation was way more mature than the rest. The hero's were older, the plot was darker, it just generally felt a lot more mature.

Just like everyone else has said, this game is definitely not directed more towards kids than any of the other games. Although, I will say this, the game was easy. Like, REALLY easy. I don't know if I've just gotten really good over the past... oh... 13 years is it now? But I was able to defeat the E4, Ghetsis, and N, with my highest pokemon being a level 44 Beartic. The fact that this game actually features a somewhat complex plot though, definitely means that the plot parts aren''t geared towards children, because even now, there were some parts that confused me, and I don't think little kids would understand the ulterior motives of Ghetsis.

Of course, I must also mention the competitive scene. With all the EV's and stuff, I'm pretty sure any young children wouldn't be able to win a single online battle, because even thoguh your Venusaur is level 100, cut, leech seed, solar beam, and mega drain, is not a good moveset, and 252 speed EVs won't do it much good :P.

Overall, I think the game is just as directed toward children as its always been.

For the very first time, the game has a beginning that actually teaches new players how to play the game.

We know that Fire is 2x effective against grass, most of of have memorized all of the type relationships.

But how does Kenny know about "Fire>Grass"??

Because the fist gym is actualy dedicated to teaching you. It pits you against a boss you can not defeat with your starter. You have to understand the most basic mechanics of the game to beat the fist boss.

Isn't that how it should be?
