6th Gen Did you get your HA Serperior Gift?

    If you're anything like me, you're prone to missing smaller events for pokemon.

    Well, there's currently a code gift going on for a serperior with its HA in ORAS. It's not guaranteed any IVs though, comes in a cherish ball (and cannot be renamed). The code is POKEMON497 and from what I understand a new code will be available at pokemon.com or their newsletter on the 29th of this month for an HA Emboar.

    So, question about this HA serperior gift. I play a female character in OR and keep getting female serperior. However, my son and husband, with OR and AS respectively, both play a male character and keep getting male serperior. Neither of us has gotten the other gender yet. We're wondering how the gender is calculated now and thinking you get a serperior that matches your character's gender.

    Well officially gender is calculated the same way as wild/egg hatching encounters, namely for starters (and Eevee and a few others) it's alway 12.5% female, 87.5% male, no exceptions, however anecdotally I too have come across exactly the same thing as you, in my Alpha Sapphire I was playing as a male character and kept soft resetting for a particular nature and always got male, but in Omega Ruby I was a female character and except for the first attempt (because I wasn't paying attention) I got 3 or 4 in a row that were female, and except for that first one (because I wasn't paying attention) they were ALL female in Ruby and the only reason I even noticed that was because I initially was just resetting for a particular nature but just happened to get a female calm natured one on my second attempt, so I debated whether or not to keep it just because it was female but I then decided to reset and every subsequent one was always female, so I too thought for this particular giveaway might have had a different gender ratio than normal
     
    I inputted the code for the HA Serperior, yes, but I still haven't picked it up. In fact, I even have the shiny Beldum still waiting for me at the Pokémon Center...
     
    Sounds like maybe if you're playing a female character, you get a female from the giveaway. But two experiences is hardly enough to go by on that one.

    That Pendraflare still hasn't picked up his beldum before inputting the serperior code brings a question to my mind though. Does the event girl in the pokecenter hold a queue? I've always been too afraid to not pick up the last event on the best nature/spread within the time limit before picking up another event. Didn't want one event to overwrite the other and didn't wanna lose an event just to test it out.
     
    I've picked up mine and actually found out the event by accident, lucky for me haha. I wish I knew about past events but I'll pay more attention to the future news!

    Yeah, that's one reason why I posted here about it. I've missed past events because, for whatever reason, I stopped keeping up with pokenews on other sites (I visit pokecommunity more than any other pokemon related site) or I just forget to check the news while I'm there and I'll end up missing a giveaway by less than a month.

    What gender is yours and what gender was your character?

    My character is female and Serperior is male ! I'm going to make sure I get the other evolved starters later in the month.

    Well, the pokemon.com website says that gender is random and gives no indication of a reversal but I think that's a terribly lucky streak since I've soft reset over 25 times now and my serperior is always female. At the normal gender rate that's an incredibly lucky streak of females.

    Yes I did! I haven't picked it up in-game yet because I want to soft reset for IVs and nature, but I did soft reset a few times to see if it was gender locked and literally 5/5 times my Serperior was female. Was that just ridiculously insane luck or has anyone else noticed if their Serperior is gender locked as male/female or what?

    EDIT: Oh, just skimmed the thread. I am starting to wonder if trainer gender makes a difference! I'm playing as female.
     
    Just picked up mine. I'm glad I read this thread, if not I would have not received my Serperior :-(

    Calm Nature also (as previous post!). What a coincidene haha.

    The Event Girl gives you your Events in the order that Wonder Cards are arranged in the Card Album. If you rearrange so that tomorrow's Emboar, for instance, is first on the list, you will get that before receiving the Beldum or Serperior. When received, it would go to the end of the album, so you would have to rearrange them.
     
    I already got a HA snivy from someone, so I just started breeding that...
    Only now I realized it wasn't Japan only, so basically I was ripped off whatever I trade -.-
    Guess I'll just keep the event one laying around in a box, not gonna bother soft resetting for it.
     
    Got my Timid Contrary Serperior a week or so ago, gonna start working on passing some IV's to it and then put it on a concept team I'm working on :D

    do you know if there are any other gifts I can get right now in ORAS? I have my beldum already.

    You're welcome, and the only event I'm aware of is the serperior. Tomorrow should see the emboar though. You'll have to poke around pokemon.com to figure out the code though. Or I might just paste it here.

    It occured to me that I can just breed the IVs and nature in that I want and it would be way easier, but cherish balls don't pass on, so I kinda wanted a decent serperior to start with. So far all the ones I've been getting are really crappy (but at least they're all female for some reason?).
