FATES INTERTWINED within the NEW WORLD
Darkness cannot exist without light. Humans are taught as much in school, and learn through experience over the course of their lives. So why was this world that they had remained in only possess the darkness? How long had it been now? Months? Years? Minutes? From within the darkness, they had temporarily lost a sense of self. What did they look like? What were their names? It didn't matter in that cold darkness. Eventually, though, light. A bright, warm, overpowering light that purged this lifeless realm of the darkness. This was the light that would free them. This light signified the beginning of their journey.

DISCOVERY often leads to FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN
"Um... excuse me? Excuse me, are you alright?" An unfamiliar, high pitched voice disturbed the sleep of the figure draped over a beaten down couch amidst a post-apocalyptic looking street. The figure stirred at the squeaking, her snow white hair pouring out onto the dirty road below the couch, her dainty frame twisting and turning in attempt to find a sleeping position that would allow her to continue her REM sleep. The voice, however, was persistent. "I asked you if you were okay!" This was enough to surprise the girl, and her form rolled off of the couch, hitting the ground with a thud. "Drat, I didn't mean to startle her!" For the first time, the girl opened her eyes, revealing the bright red irises she possessed. First, they opened a little in order to adjust to the light, but when they opened fully, she found herself looking a small, pink rabbit? In boots? With earmuffs and a scarf? "You're a human, aren't you?" It asked, and despite her confusion and grogginess, she nodded. She couldn't find her voice just yet.

Who was she? It took a minute to put her thoughts back together, and the odd animal before her didn't help with anything. She was a human, yes. Last she remembered, she had been playing a game with her younger sister. A virtual game, Tamers. Oh! Maybe that was what happened. Maybe she'd fallen asleep with the VR helmet on! Still lying on her back on the ground, staring up at the rabbit, she reached up to take off the peripheral. Her hands passed her vision for a moment, and she instantly noticed that something was off. Part of her doubted she was just playing a game, and not only because that fall off the couch had hurt. When her hands reached the top of her head, she could find no helmet. She grabbed a chunk of long white hair at first, and eventually found herself gripping onto two bony attachments that clearly didn't belong on the sides of her head.

A panicked expression overtook her face, but still she made no noise. Come to think of it, everything since she had woken up had seemed for too realistic. The audio quality felt like she was there, the feeling of the rock beneath her form was present as well. She could feel a cool breeze blowing through this destroyed city, which she recognized as the starting zone for Tamers after closer expression - albeit one that looked like it had been blown to hell. Pieces were missing from buildings, the streets were destroyed and overgrown with plant life. Just how long had she been out? Her breathing started getting heavy as reality began to sink in, and the pink rabbit before her donned a concerned expression. "My name is Cutemon. Maybe you should follow me back to the community center. You look like you could use some help, and there are other humans we've found back there."

The girl nodded, and struggled to get to her feet. She had yet to bother looking at her form, and did not do so as she followed the rabbit into the city. It was certainly a Digimon, one of those monsters from Tamers, so was she in the game? If so, how was that even possible? Or why?

    QUESTIONS don't always have ANSWERS
It took about twenty minutes, the girl estimated, to reach the community center. It was a rundown building on the corner of an intersection that seemed to have been lost to indigenous plants long ago. She was lead through two double oak doors into a lobby-like area, where strange creatures seemed to be moving around and talking. "Cutemon? You found another human?" an almost human-looking creature asked. She said almost human because of it's height. It was only a few feet tall, and while it resembled an old man with it's huge white beard and bushy head of hair, it's humongous feet made her think otherwise of it's identity. Using a staff with a paw on the end, it made it's way over to the girl, looking her over with great detail, causing her to back away about.

"You're scaring it, Jijimon!" Cutemon exclaimed to the old man as it moved in between the two of them. "I know you're the leader of this group, but try not to freak out the humans. Is Zephyr around? I'm sure he'd like to meet another human, and he'll know what to do with it." The girl, naturally, was confused. Zephyr? Was that the name of another human? Weird name. After a quick exchange between Jijimon and Cutemon, she found herself being lead up a flight of stairs to a private room. Apparently the one known as Zephyr had arrived a couple of days before her, and was meeting with other humans like him to help figure out their situation.

FIRST ENCOUNTERS lead to FIRST IMPRESSIONS
"Zephyr, you're in here, right?" Cutemon inquired as it motioned for the girl to open the wooden door before her. She did so, and stepped into the room. It was dark, lit only by the sunlight coming through the giant windows which cast an identity onto the room. It had clearly been used for conferences at one point, with a big table in the middle and lined with chairs. At the opposite end of the table was a young man with black hair. He wore a Gauss-eyepatch over his right eye, and was clad in a black jacket over a hoodie with a black and white diagonal pattern. His one visible eye watched her, apparently unamused. "Please take a seat. We'll start when the others arrive." He said plainly. What was going on? She didn't really understand. Still, with no other leads, she did as she was told. From her seat by the window, she saw more of the room. There were a series of large eggs behind the boy at the end of the table. Just what were they, exactly?

(So basically, you need to get your character to that room to sit with the others. Try to avoid having your character say their name or look at their appearances for now.)

    Girl - Unknown

A cool wind swept across the red haired girl's cheek, making her open her eyes drowsily. Strange. Had she been dozing off? She had just been about to try out her newest game, 'Tamer'. She hadn't been that tired, had she? Somewhat annoyed with herself, she sat up and realized that the cool breeze was still there. She looked up and saw that it came from a broken window. "Oh my god," the girl said. "Somebody broke into-"

She was interrupted by the sheer sight of the room around her. It wasn't her room at all. It was gray and full of trash, plus the pale couch she had apparently been dozing off in. "How... did I get here?" she said aloud again.

The girl got up, careful not to step or trip on the trash on the floor. She went up to the window and looked out. The sight made her blink several times and scared her somewhat, but at the same time it felt familiar. She was in a tall building, many stores up, towering over a city she knew from pictures. The starting point of tamers in 'Tamer'... but something was really off.

"Right!" she suddenly gasped. "I'm in a game!" She laughed a little at the realization. She hadn't been dozing off, she was probably just unused to putting on the VR helmet. She put her hands to her head to feel it... and felt nothing. "Hm?" How strange... maybe it was designed to not feel like it was there... though it had been rather clumsy when she put it on. Maybe it played tricks with her mind... no wait, she wasn't a fool. She knew things like that were difficult to do. So what was this?

Determined not to panic, the girl took some deep breaths and looked out the window again. She could see some people... at least something, moving near a building some blocks away. So she wasn't alone at least. Maybe those were the monsters from the game, or other players? Maybe her game was just glitchy. Other players maybe knew how to contact a Game Master or something to help her. Yes, that made sense. She walked out from the room and found a working elevator that brought her to the entrance floor. Then she tried to remember where that other building had been and walked on through the eerie city.

Suddenly, a noise startled her. To her left, something was crawling around in a garbage can. It noticed that she was looking at it and stared back. "Whaddaya want?" it said in a rude tone. "Go stare at someone as ugly as yourself, will ya?"

The girl took some steps back, not daring to say anything. The creature was yellow and looked like... well, it was shaped like... a large, golden piece of poop. Nothing like the girl had ever seen before. Another little creature jumped up from the garbage can now and down on the street closer to the girl. She didn't scream, but jumped back a little more. The new creature looked like a rather pale mouse standing on its hind legs.

"You wanna pick a fight?" the mouse said, growling at the girl. That was enough. She still didn't scream, but started running away as fast as she could, not caring in which direction she went. Oh, she really hoped that they didn't follow her and that she found a game master soon, because this was starting to get really creepy.

After another block of running - strangely not feeling tired yet - the girl spotted the building she had seen from the window. A glance over her shoulder told her that she wasn't followed by the mouse and the... golden poop, and so she approached the building. When she tried to enter it, she collided with another strange fellow. This one looked like a pink bunny wearing earmuffs, boots and a scarf. Both bounced back a little before looking up at each other.

"You wear clothes!" the girl said.

"So what? You do too," the bunny said.

    "Of course I do, I'm a human."

"Oh right!" the bunny said, as if it just realized something. "You're a human! Come along here."

And with that, it turned around and entered the building again. The red haired girl blinked and looked from the streets around her to the insides of the building. Well... maybe it knew were a game master was, or maybe it at least was supposed to guide her somewhere in the game. She might as well follow. Inside the lobby, more of these monsters stood around talking. The girl had to make an effort not to stop and stare at them, because the bunny in front of her wanted her to hurry, apparently.

"Zephyr is waiting for all of you," it said as they started to climb some stairs.

"Zephyr? Is that a Game Master?" the girl said hopefully.

"Game Master? I don't know about that. He's a human who arrived some days prior to you. He wanted our help to gather as many of you as we could, so that you could figure out this mess together."

"Mess... it sure is a mess," the girl said, disappointed. So she wasn't the only one having technical difficulties. Well, if she went on for too long with the game, her mother was sure to come into her room and take off her helmet. With that realization, the girl felt a bit more light hearted.

When they reached the room, the girl saw two more humans in it. One was another girl, with white hair and red eyes, and the other person was a young man.

"Zephyr, we found another one right now," the bunny said, apparently speaking to the male. "You should probably sit here and wait until the others arrive," it then said to the girl, with a wink.

"Hello..." the girl said awkwardly, sitting down on a chair on the opposite side of the other girl. She never liked crowds of people. Everyone usually looked at her and didn't like what they saw. She avoided looking at any of the others and let her gaze fall on something behind the young man. A row of strangely big eggs. Very odd, she thought.

The tree planted inbetween the sidewalk's stone surface was never one that people paid attention to. Perhaps its broad trunk and its outlandish placement on the sidewalk earned it several fleeting glances, but the fact remains that it is of very little interest to the typical passerby. At that particular moment, however, this tree would have been very eye-catching indeed, for around its roots were the fiery red hair crowning the head of a young woman of some six feet; said woman was in what seemed like a deep slumber, her back rested against the rough surface of the wood. A sudden cold gust passed, rattling the tree leaves and awakening the girl under the protection of their shade.

"Ah..." the girl uttered as a painful headache promptly attacked her brain. The feeling was like waking up in the middle of the night knowing that you had a terrible nightmare, but not knowing what the nightmare was. Fighting against the agonizing headache, the girl struggled to get up, gripping the tree's rough bark as support. She looked at her surroundings, but with the blurry vision and ominous headache she was afflicted with, the girl wasn't able to tell apart the fire hydrant and the pile of bricks laid out on the lawn of a house. She leaned against the tree again, closing her eyes and softly massaging her head. When she opened her eyes again, her vision was much clearer, but the headache was just as painful. Was it one of her symptoms acting up again? She couldn't tell.

The girl decided that the best thing to do at the moment would be to find one of her maids for an aspirin--that was when the realization hit her. She wasn't home. Where was this? It didn't look familiar. The last thing she remembered was taking a shower...and then opening her laptop? That's right, she just logged into a game and put on the VR helmet. Was that what this is? Just an illusion created by the wonders of today's technologies? Unsure what to think or where to go, the girl decided to walk around and see where Lady Luck would lead her. She barely took five steps before a pink rabbit wearing earmuffs, a shawl and a pair of tiny red boots ran up to her, stopping her dead in her tracks.

"Excuse me!" it squeaked. "You're a human, aren't you?"

Recalling it was a Virtual Reality game, the girl didn't immediately respond. She felt her toes, moved her fingers and twitched her nose to make sure that she was, in fact, human. Only when she was positive that her form was indeed that of a human did she reply. "Yes, that would be my guess. And...you are?" the girl said, raising an eyebrow at the rabbit's attire.

"My name is Cutemon. Do you have any idea where you are?" Cutemon inquired, and the question was replied to by the shake of the girl's head. Cutemon smiled. "I was hoping you'd say that. Come with me."

"Pardon...but I don't know if I should. I'm not supposed to talk to strangers," Cutemon heard her say.

"You got a better idea?" said the Cutemon, now frowning. When the girl didn't respond for about five seconds, he smiled again. "I thought so. Come on," he said as he jerked his head, motioning for the girl to follow him.

The rabbit hopped along the street, and the girl followed behind him at a distance. Her headache had died down, so now she could get a better look at the town. It looked old and abandoned, with wild shrubberies overtaking people's lawns, cracks on the asphalt streets and roofs with missing pieces.

It felt like a ghost town.

When the word ghost crossed her mind, she immediately felt chills run up her spine. She ran up to Cutemon, hoping to catch up with him as soon as possible.

"Well, here we are," Cutemon said, holding an arm out towards a run-down building which was, similarly to most of the houses the girl had passed earlier, overtaken by shrubberies. Cutemon went on ahead, opening the double oak doors with a creaking sound.

"I really should rethink this," the girl mumbled to herself. Was she really going to go through with this? Enter a building she had no knowledge of just because a stranger she met at the middle of an intersection told her to? Hang on--wasn't this just a game? There would be no consequences whatsoever if she chose to do so, right? This is probably just part of the plot the game is going through, so she wasn't going to get anywhere if she just randomly wandered this ghost town.

Ghost town. The girl shuddered and immediately entered the building.

As she pushed open the double doors, her eyes caught Cutemon chatting with...someone...or something. She wasn't sure which one it was, for he looked very much human, but stood only a couple of feet tall. Although she was trained not to judge people by their appearances, before she knew it she had dubbed this...person "old dwarf".

"Where did you find it?" the old dwarf asked Cutemon. The girl blinked at that statement, trying not to take offense from being called 'it'.

"A sidewalk, Jijimon," Cutemon replied briefly, getting behind the girl and nudging her to move towards a staircase.

"What street?" the old dwarf, who Cutemon called Jijimon, inquired again.

"That's not important, and besides I've got to bring her to Zephyr. Bye!" Cutemon, who was now pushing the girl up the stairs, called out to Jijimon.

"May I ask who this Zephyr is?" the girl asked, genuinely interested. Was he perhaps the person who runs the mission control? The big boss that gives out missions for her to accomplish in the game?

"Oh, you'll see," Cutemon replied briefly, which only added to her curiosity. She attempted to visualize this Zephyr person--most likely he's around his forties, or even older, with a beard or mustache and a tuxedo. Oh, and an eyepatch. An eyepatch would be cool.

Cutemon lead her to the room where Zephyr was apparently in, and from the three people in the room, she was able to easily pick out Zephyr, as he was the only male there. The only thing she got right about him was his eyepatch--he was a teenager who was probably as old as herself. He wore a jacket over a hoodie, and he was very cleanly shaved. This was the big boss? Really? The game developers could have done better, she thought to herself.

"Take a seat. The others have yet to arrive," Zephyr told the girl.

Having no other option, she did as she was told and sat down on a chair close to one of the windows decorating the room, which also happened to be its lone source of light. Next to her was someone with white hair and red eyes--and a pair of demon horns. "Oh my," she blurted before she could stop herself. She covered her mouth with her hands and apologized to the white-haired girl. "Terribly sorry. Please ignore that."

"Riiing…..riiing…..riiing.…riing!!!" a loud sound resonated through her head. It was a nagging sound which finally made the girl open her eyes. But as soon as she opened them, she closed them tight as the strong light was too much to handle so bluntly. As she waited a few minutes as her sight would get used to the light she felt like she was leaning on something on the ground, like a wall, but with a more smooth surface. By the time she opened her eyes she could see that she was sitting in a telephone booth that was really damaged. The only thing that were still in one piece was the main frame and the glass window that was supporting her back. The telephone was near her left side and the phone was ringing louder and louder a seconds went by.

"Hello!!!!" she said picking up the phone, before anything else, as the sound was getting on her nerves. But the only thing she could hear was something like a strange electronic sound piercing through her ears. She left the phone fall, not even bothering to put it back, it would probably keep ringing again. The girl finally stepped out of the telephone booth and could see that she wasn't in Kansas anymore. Everything around here was in ruin and all the things were either damaged or in bad shape. " Wait a minute…..the last thing I remember was in my room putting on the VR helmet for the new game I bought." She turned around and walked a few steps along the road, walking slowly and cautious, looking at her surrounding trying to figure out what happened. "Maybe this is the game……but the graphics are too real to be just a normal game." She thought to herself stopping in her tracks as she was getting more and more confused with every thought she had. "There should be a log off button then….it should be on the helmet. " she said reaching for her head and trying to get a grip on the gadget. But to her surprise she wasn't wearing anything. She fell to her knees, just at the corner of the road, as her answer lead to only one conclusion: This was more than real and she was somehow trapped here. "

" I'm sure that DemiDevimon said that he saw another one around here!" somebody was saying just around the corner. As the girl wanted to get up, something came running from the corner and bumped into her, both of them knocking each other down. " Ouch ouch ouch ouch!!! Both of them said in unison. The girl got up and saw that before her eyes a pink bunny like creature was also getting up and was brushing of the dirt from the scarf it was wearing.

"What's the big idea of knocking me down like that!!!" the bunny shouted puffing its arms up at the girl. " Just because I'm little doesn't mean I can be pushed around."

"Hold it!!!!" She said getting down to the rabbit's level. " First I didn't bump into you as I was not moving, you where. But that doesn't matter. What's more important is what are you and WHERE am I?" She said seeing as the creature had calmed down.

"Hey you're the one I was looking for." The rabbit said finally realizing that it was facing a human. " I'm Cutemon, a digimon. Sorry about earlier but I'm very stressed out as I have to find all of you as soon as possible." Cutemon said taking the girl's hand and starting to walk, making the girl follow her.

"There are more humans here?" she said surprised. " Maybe I'm not the only clueless one here. " the girl thought. Despite not knowing Cutemon and not even knowing why it was following him so obediently, she decided that her best choice was to see how things turn up.

"Yes there are some…….and more to come. But enough with the questions!!! Keep them for Zephyr!!" Cutemon said dragging the girl through an alley. As the passed through it she could see a bat like creature sitting on top of a wooden fence.

"I see you found her!" the bat spoke just as they were passing by. " I told you that she was there. I saw here as I was flying around." The bat said spreading its wings and stretching one leg.

"Ok ok I admit, it was wrong for me to doubt you! Thanks for the info!" Cutemon said giving a smile to the bat. " See you later then!" and continued to walk, still holding on to the girl like it was scared that she would run off.

After a while they finally got out of the alley and were again on the main road, in front of a building that was all covered in plants, only a few spaces still looking like the original building. Cutemon pushed the oak doors and entered, rushing the girl to follow. They entered in what looked like a lobby. " Hmmm guess Jijimon went somewhere else?!" Cutemon said looking around. " Well that doesn't matter right now. Come let's get you to Zephyr!"
She was rushed towards a room, which obviously was the place where Zephyr would surely be. " You go in and sit down, I have to go back and find the other for now." And with that Cutemon dashed out of her sight leaving her standing before the doorknob. The girl slowly opened the door as it made a screeching sound. Inside there were four people, one boy and three girls who all turned their eyes towards her.

" Hello. I was told to come here." She said in calm yet soft voice. The girl made her way to one of the seats, being carefully watched by all of the ones seated at the table, but mostly by Zephyr. She pulled the chair and sat down next to the girl that was sitting on the opposite side of the other two. Despite not knowing what would happen she waited calmly until the so called Zephyr would pierce through the silence and bring some light to their questions. As her eyes wandered from person to person and around the room, she spotted several large eggs behind the boy. The strange things intrigued the girl, but for know her curiosity had to wait.

    Stupid Helmet!

CREAKKK! A young man quickly woke up as he heard a high pitched sound come from in front of him. Who's on the stairs? he thought to himself as he rubbed his eyes. The creaking continued and finally he stood up to look around. Before him was open air, revealing a full, destroyed city. He was standing in the corner of a small room, it's side torn off and...

Suddenly, he heard a crash. A small amount of the floor above him fell down as it headed towards the ground. Where the hell am I? Looking over the edge of the building, the young man saw that he was three floors up and most likely the only person there.

Getting ready to yell for help, he was hit by a big block of realization. He was playing his new game, Tamers.

"Damn," he said aloud, "I almost thought this was real." The graphics of the game were amazing to the point that he didn't see a difference between it and real life. He decided to reach for his head to remove the VR helmet but, something was wrong. There wasn't a helmet there. I might just to find a save spot or something, he thought.

He turned towards the exit, only to take a couple steps out of it before he heard another crash behind him. The room he had been in's floor had just fell through. "Lucky I left in time," he said casually and unworried.

The man walked down a flight of stairs before he heard something else from the room beside him.

"That was a close one," the tiny voice said. "I better keep looking for that human."

The man quickly looked into the room to see a small bunny dressed in winter wear. "Did you say you were looking for a human?" he asked.

"Yep," it said, "and I'm assuming you're the one. Come on, I need to bring you to Zephyr." The bunny simply hopped passed the man, it's earmuffs slipping a bit. It gestured the young man to follow and went down. The man could only smirk. "I'm following a pink bunny that talks, I guess."

He followed the bunny down stopping at a small spot of stairs that were missing.
"Come on," the pink bunny said. "It's only a couple stairs." The being seemed to be dramatizing the whole thing as it watched the man intently, smiling as he did so.

The man simply took a long stride over the missing ones. "Two steps isn't much," he started, "I skip a step or two all the time anyways."

The bunny simply ignored the man's saying and simply directed him farther down and outside to see the city in it's absolutely nightmarish shape. Most things were destroyed and all the things that weren't were on the brink. The man was amazed at how such a bad state could occur.

"Where are we," the man asked, "And why is it like this?" The man knew this was a game but for some reason, it made him worry.

"Oh, I'll let Zephyr answer that," it replied, "He's been looking for other humans for the last couple days."

So Zephyr is a human too, he thought before asking the bunny another question. "Who are you at least?"

"Me?" it said, "I'm Cutemon and I've just been helping Zephyr." Cutemon led the teen down the street a bit farther before continuing. "Anyways, Zephyr is a human just like you but he arrived a couple days ago."

He's been here for days? How could he? The man was utterly confused at the remark entirely. Shouldn't a person be out by then?

Nonetheless, the teen followed Cutemon to a building straight ahead. It's sign calling it the community center.

"Zephyr's in there as well as some other humans we found. Just go upstairs and you'll find them in one of the rooms." The being gave a short smile and then hopped in front of the man, opening the door.

As soon as the man walked in he saw an almost human looking being, similar to a dwarf. It bore a long beard as well as long hair, giving the boy the impression of big foot.

    "Another human?" he asked Cutemon.

"Yes Jijimon," Cutemon replied, "Now just let him be."

The beast/man simply gave a sarcastic smirk and pointed to one of the rooms on the top level. "The rest are in there," he said to the man.

He nodded to Jijimon and walked up and into the room to see five people already there. Zephyr and him the only two boys.

    Error: 404

He awoke slowly, as though he had been sleeping underwater instead of the brisk chill of the woods. One by one his senses returned, showing an odd blue sky and revealing the sounds of whistling life beneath the edges of his awareness. The boy frowned a little, stretching slowly. Where... was he? It was chilly. He rubbed the gooseflesh of his arms warily, gradually rising to his feet. "...How did I... get wherever..." Mustering the energy, the boy took one step forward and then another. As he managed the walk, his thoughts turned in and out, wondering and pondering.

"...Tamer..." That was it. It was the game he had bought called Tamer. Did that mean he was in the game... but it felt too real... too... alive. The boy sighed, continuing to walk with the trees as a crutch, eventually able to continue the trek alone. The quiet did not unnerve him; a part of him remembered being used to it. He wondered why he was limping in the first place. If this was a game wouldn't he be perfectly okay? The idea bounced around his head for a moment before he shrugged it away at the sound of a voice.

"Kyu...Kyu...kyu...kyu... where is it kyu.... I have to find it soon or I won't look right kyu..." In the boy's field of vision appeared a pink rabbit with headphones. It kept strolling anxiously, making that odd noise as it walked. "Kyu..."

"...Are you lost?"The pauses in speech felt natural, like the words refused to come in a timely manner in accordance with his brain. The rabbit perked up and jumped up and down excitedly, black eyes bright.

"Kyu! You are a human aren't you kyu?" Without waiting for an answer the creature plowed on. "I am Cutemon kyu!" ...The name fit at the very least. "I have been looking for a human for some time now kyu and you are a human kyu~!" It tackled him in delight then bounced away. "Come with me now kyu! It's dangerous out here kyu!" Cutemon hurried away, leaving the boy both disoriented and slightly disheveled. Blinking, he followed her.

The creature continued to babble on. "There are lots more of you than expected kyu... oh brother can't scold me now I did my job kyu... gotta take you to Zephyr right now kyu..."

Eventually the boy tuned the chatty creature out, focusing more on walking. Eventually they reached a city, one that bordered on disturbingly silent. Thankfully Cutemon or whatever it was seemed to know the way and trotted on, eventually reaching a run-down building. This place is very broken... he thought solemnly before Cutemon turned to him with a grin. "Here we are kyu! Now go in that direction and see Zephyr kyu!" The boy managed a small nod before the rabbit trotted away excitedly.

Following the pink talking creature's advice, he made it to a room where many people were already gathered, along with what looked like eggs. He was the third boy here. Huh. Why didn't that sound right? He sat down and closed his eyes, trying to take all of this in.

(I couldn't resist the verbal tic lol.)

Waking up from a deep sleep isn't an easy job.

It felt like an eternity had passed to the boy, who had been sleeping on a small pathway for ages now. He was starting to get incredibly restless at this stage, but he couldn't do anything about it, at all. He wanted to get up, but his body refused to budge. He felt really tired at the same time. Plus, that small light was annoying... if only he could get rid of it...

But he couldn't. The light increased, expanding slowly until it had completely occupied his vision. The boy was suddenly awake, as he got up with a jerk. it felt as if he had woken up from a nightmare, but he didn't remember seeing any dreams at all. His head seemed to be pounding, as if he was suffering from some really crazy hangover. Once his vision cleared a bit and he got a hold of his senses, he decided to examine his surroundings. He recognized the place as a street, one that looked as if it had been attacked by some disaster. There was trash everywhere, and it definitely didn't seem normal. The boy noticed the newspapers that were lying under his body. What exactly had he been doing here?

"Ahem." He heard somebody clear their throat right behind him. He turned his head to come face to face with a small pink creature.

"Holy sh-" He yelled, as he quickly got up on his feet and backed away. The creature kept approaching him though, and the boy did exactly what felt natural at the moment, he quickly kicked the creature hard, right on its chin. The creature stumbled back, and started yelling something at the boy. It was... English? The creature could talk? What the hell was going on? He wondered whether he had taken something last night, but there was no time to think. He had to see whether this creature was hostile or not.

"God, was that really necessary?" The creature yelled, still massaging its tiny nose, soothing the pain.

"What the hell are you?!" The boy shot back, confusion and a bit of fear in his voice.

"I'm Cutemon, and I'm a Digimon! Do you have even the slightest idea where you are?" The creature said, angry.

Digimon...? Oh yes, Digimon! The boy remembered about the game he had tried to play, that game called Tamers. But wait, it was a game... right? But everything here felt real... a bit too real. Was he actually in the game? The creature probably noticed his expression of doubt, as he finally calmed down, and said in a rather cheerful tone, "Maybe you should accompany me to the community center. It's not far away, and we have other humans there"

The boy shrugged. He was in an unfamiliar surrounding, and it wasn't as if he was busy doing something anyways. Might as well follow this curious little creature. The journey to the center was pretty quick, it didn't take him a lot of time. As they both trudged on in their journey to the center, the boy decided to finally see what kind of area he was in. And he definitely didn't like it.

The whole place was in a horrid state. It seriously did seem as if the world had been struck by some kind of nuclear event. The place was void of life and there was a slight chill in the air. There was absolute silence, except for the footsteps of the boy and the Digimon.

"What happened here?" The boy inquired. No answer from the creature. Maybe it was still angry about him kicking it. The boy decided to not ask anything until they got to their destination. In about 15 minutes, they had reached the community center. The state of the community center was pretty fitting for the world he was currently in, it was as bad as the other buildings.

"How can people even live here?" The boy thought, before he followed the Digimon into the building.

"Is that a human I see?" Came a voice, as soon as he entered. He saw an old man-like creature, with a staff approach him, trying to examine him. He was a lot shorter than most humans, but his appearance was rather humanoid.

"Whoa whoa whoa, Mr. Vertically challenged old man, you better keep your distance..." The boy said in a threatening voice. He readied his fists to fight, but before he could attack Cutemon intervened.

"You're scaring it, Jijimon!" Cutemon exclaimed to the old man as it moved in between the two of them. "I know you're the leader of this group, but try not to freak out the humans. Is Zephyr around? I'm sure he'd like to meet another human, and he'll know what to do with it."

"It? How dare you?" The boy said, this time directed towards the smaller creature. But again, something else caught his attention. "Jijimon? That man's a digimon?" The old man nodded, and the boy would only wonder in amazement how close these creatures were to humans. The rabbit one wore clothes, and the short one was an old man. maybe it wouldn't be hard for him to relate to these things.

"So, uh, Zephyr, huh? That's a kind of... unique name." The boy said. Again, Cutemon only nodded, and led the boy towards a flight of stairs. The boy climbed as quietly as he could, trying to avoid making any sound. Soon, he was standing in front of a door, as Cutemon inquired whether this Zephyr man was inside or not. Once it got confirmation, it asked him to open the door. The boy shrugged, and opened the door.

"The room was dark, illuminated only by the sunlight from the windows. It took the boy several moments to get used to the light in the room, and once he was adjusted, he saw a few people were already in the room. All of them were certainly rather unusual looking, they were all people he couldn't trust right now. Instead of taking a chair, he walked towards one of the open windows in the room and leaned on the wall next to it. The boy noticed the row of eggs behind on the boys, but didn't say anything about it yet. He remained silent, for now, waiting for this Zephyr fellow to tell them what all of this was about.

    "..."

The boy feels the force of sunlight bearing down upon his exposed skin; the rays are slightly harsh, and he is not comfortable. He taps his index finger against his thumb experimentally; everything seems to be in working order, still, and he blinks twice in rapid succession, struggling to open his eyelids.

    Am I dreaming?

He looks through half-closed eyes at the outside world. He seems to be in ... a post-apocalyptic city of some sort; debris is strewn all about him. The sky is a clear, crystalline blue, and a few clouds drift about in the vast firmament. This is pretty impressive, as technology goes. He ponders the sight in front of him drowsily, before returning himself to a soft darkness. He had fallen asleep in front of the computer, perhaps, but ... everything else could wait - he'd just take another small nap...

    "Um, excuse me."

He jolts into a sitting position, surprised by the touch of something distinctly furry. And small. A fur-gloved hand, perhaps? He squints past the heaviness that obscures his vision, and discovers that it is, in fact, not a person, but a creature that has awakened him - a rather pink and fluffy creature, at that, resembling a rabbit. Upon noticing that it has acquired his attention, it smiles uncertainly at him, its long ears flickering back and forth.

"Oh, uh. Hi!" Suppressing a yawn, he waves cheerfully to the creature, who returns the gesture happily, evidently content that its prodding did not trigger a negative response.

"Are you alright?" The rabbit-creature-thing, whatever it was, is certainly enthusiastic. He thinks for a moment, noting for the first time the dusty concrete beneath his legs, and attempts to move one of them; a slight jolt of electricity passes through his body, and it sluggishly moves into action.

"I ... think so." He places a hand to his forehead. The sensations are definitely ... realistic. Maybe even overly so. "A bit tired, but fine. Who are you?" And where am I?, He wants to ask, but withholds his words. The creature wasn't likely to know, anyway. Instead, he scans the environment carefully, searching for clues.

"My name's Cutemon. Are you, um, a human?"

At these words, he turns his gaze to the creature suddenly - was Cutemon its name? - raising a slight eyebrow. He inclines his head carefully, appraising the meaning of those words. A picture is beginning to form inside his mind, now. The ruins bear a striking resemblance to the starting area of the game he had been playing (it was called Tamer, wasn't it?) before he lost consciousness.

Something extraordinary might be afoot... mm.

"Yes, I do believe I am." He smiles softly.

"I was wondering if you'd like to come to the community center. And, er, there are some other humans we've found as well. If you need any help at all, I think you'll be able to find some there." Cutemon looks pleased, and beckons to him. He gets up slowly, and begins, obligingly, to follow the brightly-colored rodent, walking with a deliberate degree of languor and leisure. Before too much time passes, the duo arrives at a dilapidated, overgrown complex on what used to be the corner of an intersection.

The foyer of the building holds a wide assortment of foreign creatures, engaging in activities and conversation. He watches, a curious expression on his visage, as a humanoid figure with overgrown facial hair and bare feet nods at his companion.

"Another one, Cutemon?" The white-haired figure scratches its - his? - head with his cane, and looks bemusedly at the rabbit. The latter dips its head in affirmation, and points off to a staircase. "I'm taking him to meet Zephyr and the others, Jijimon." A flurry of words pass between the two, and Jijimon nods in apprehension.

    "Go on, then."

    ---

Cutemon leads him to a private chamber, in which several other humans are seated around a table. A single place remains, and he takes the opportunity to install himself into the position, inclining his head politely to everyone else around the room. The room was dimly lit, and the only notable feature other than the inhabitants was the assortment of eggs at the end of the table, behind an eye-patched young man with dark hair. Vaguely wondering what their purpose is, he glances about himself thoughtfully.

    TIME could be RETROSPECTIVE
Slowly but surely, the room began to fill with humans, much to Zephyr's pleasure. It had been a few days since he'd awoken in this strange world, and for a youth who was pleased whenever he found himself superior to everyone else, the lack of human contact had been killing him. He'd most certainly be the first of this group to establish their situation, so he had no doubt in his mind that this group would likely follow him blindly if it looked like he had a strong grasp on the situation. Looking around at the group, he didn't see anyone particularly threatening, either. Between the boy with black emo hair, the small girl dressed in a Japanese school uniform with bright red hair, the girl dressed in a skirt and armor, the boy with short blue hair, the girl with the butterfly dress, the guy that looked like he went to the gym fairly often, the young boy dressed in a vest, and the white haired girl with horns, he could safely say he had nothing to worry about. Not yet, anyway.

    IDENTITY in CRISIS
The white haired girl just sat quietly and waited as the room began to fill up with people, all oddly dressed. Her mind still groggy, it barely registered as a woman dressed in armor shot an "Oh my" in her general direction. What was that about? Were men in such short supply here that seeing one was shocking? There was one at the head of the table for crying out loud! She didn't spend all of that time waiting and doing nothing, though. Looking around, she had noticed that things seemed... off? Bigger maybe? She didn't quite understand her situation, really.

Finally, when it appeared everyone had arrived, the Zephyr fellow rose from his seat. "Welcome, my fellow humans! I suppose most of you, like myself a few days ago, are rather confused about what's going on." No duh, thought the girl. "I'm sure most of you recall playing a game called 'Tamers'. Well, somehow we've ended taking up a physical existence in the world the game was modelled after."

"Wait, what? You're saying we're in a game?" The demon-horned girl finally spoke for the first time. She had originally gone with the assumption that she was dreaming, so this sudden revelation snapped her out of her grogginess a little. That wasn't possible, not by scientific standards. She didn't quite catch it, since she was still in shock, but her voice was fairly feminine and soft, qualities that her voice did not once possess.

"Nope, we're in the original world. The game is based on this place." The eye-patched man answered quickly. "If any of you remember floating in the darkness, you could say that was actually the process of your consciousness being uploaded into this Digital World that is home to the Digimon. The actual process had some bizarre effects on our forms, though. For example, could I have your name?" He glanced over at the white haired girl with his uncovered eye. Was that a glint of amusement she saw in his green eye.

She struggled for a moment as she tried to recall her name. The harder she thought about it, a name she knew was wrong kept intruding into her subconscious. "Y-Yukiyo." She finally blurted out, before her face turned red and she tried to correct herself. "That's not right, sorry. My name is Yukiyo! No! Yukiyo! My name is Yukiyo!"

Zephyr chuckled. "As you can see by everyone's strange appearances, we've taken the forms of the avatars that we used in the game, and after days of testing, I've found it impossible to refer to myself as anything other than my character's name. Which is Zephyr, if Cutemon did not inform you." A sudden shriek suddenly caught the speaker's attention though, drawing his attention to the girl that had just introduced herself as Yukiyo.

Her small hands were running over her body as she tried to make sense of things. What was this? It certainly wasn't her body. At all. It wasn't even the right gender! The clothing, too, was feminine and elaborate. "This isn't right! I'm a guy, not a girl!" She cried out in a voice that implied that she was now quite the contrary. "I must be dreaming..." She reasoned, but a sudden painful pulling on her head debunked that assumption once more. As she looked up, she found Zephyr had found his way over to her, and was pulling on something mounted to her skull.

"You can feel these horns, right? It hurts? Then it's not a dream. Get used to it." He smirked. So this one was actually a guy in the real world? Amusing, extremely amusing. She would likely prove to be a fun toy in the long run. Letting go of the horn, the girl crumpled in her chair, in too much shock to really respond any longer.

The eye-patched man went silent for a moment as he approached the group of eggs that had been behind his chair. "Now, as humans in this world, we have to become tamers in order to survive. You should all have a crest embedded into the back of your right hand that matches up with a crest on one of these eggs. When it hatches, you will gain both your partner and a Digivice, like so." Raising a hand to one of the eggs, a dark green light enveloped both his hand and the egg. When it faded, he had a strange device in his hand, and a strange smoke-creature rested before him. Not taking the time to introduce himself to his partner just yet, he threw an egg at Yukiyo, since she no longer seemed to be paying attention. It landed beside her, and began to glow a light red, revealing a litte, white, bear... head?

"Are you my partner?" It asked the girl in a high-pitched squeak as it examined the Digivice that was now in her hand. No response. "Um... miss demon lady?"

Miss Demon Lady blinked, her red eyes glancing down at the white thing. It was kind of cute, and she felt bad ignoring it. "Y-yeah, I guess..." She murmured.

"Now, I expect you all do the same, before I continue my explanation." Zephyr added after having a short conversation with Mokumon. "If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me in the meantime."

    AGNES:.

The red haired girl threw silent glances at everyone who entered the room. First came a tall woman clad in armor and a white cape. She blurted out "Oh my," when she had just sat down, which prompted the red haired girl to look up. She didn't find the reason behind those sudden words though and didn't want the others to think that she was prying in matters that wasn't hers. She had gotten in trouble for that before, in school. She wasn't the one to act curious. Besides... she didn't care about them anyways. They looked so fancy and beautiful. They would probably not even want her to speak to them. She pouted a little, just barely noticeable.

Next came a girl with a strange pink tone to her ponytail and clothes with butterfly-like features to them. How silly, the red haired girl thought, but didn't say anything of course. A thought hit her. This was probably how the others had designed their avatars in the game. Something about that thought stuck in her mind and bothered her, but she couldn't put her finger on what it was.

After a while, a man entered the room. He looked quite athletic and confident and the red haired girl didn't bother glancing twice at him. One of those guys who probably were in the school's football team or something. After that, however, another guy came in. He didn't look at all like the previous one. The thin girl raised her head to look at him as he sat down and closed his eyes. He seemed troubled. Figures. At least he didn't look as annoyingly fancy as the rest of the people here. Maybe she would friend request him on the server later.

It didn't end there though, as two more people entered the room. The first was another boy, who the red haired girl definitely wouldn't dare to talk to. He looked very muscular and wore a pair of headphones around his neck. The last person to enter the room was a blonde boy who didn't seem to be much older than the red haired girl, perhaps even younger.

Wait. That didn't really make sense. She wasn't that young, was she? Yes she was... no, she was in her later teens- no in her earlier teens. What was her brain doing to her? Something wasn't right. She hoped the GM would explain this soon; to not be able to take of her helmet was starting to drive her mind crazy, apparently.

Finally, the man called Zephyr got up and spoke. "Welcome, my fellow humans! I suppose most of you, like myself a few days ago, are rather confused about what's going on. I'm sure most of you recall playing a game called 'Tamers'."

Yes, the red haired girl nodded. She was playing a game, they knew that already. Did or did he not know what the bug in the game was?

"Well," Zephyr continued, "somehow we've ended taking up a physical existence in the world the game was modelled after."

While the white haired girl seemed surprised by this, the thin little girl just nodded again. They were in a virtual reality world... why was he saying something about some model world? Oh, maybe he was the GM and had to play an in-game role. Of course.

"Nope, we're in the original world. The game is based on this place." The eye-patched man answered the white haired girl quickly. "If any of you remember floating in the darkness, you could say that was actually the process of your consciousness being uploaded into this Digital World that is home to the Digimon. The actual process had some bizarre effects on our forms, though. For example, could I have your name?"

The thin little girl turned to look at the white haired one as the latter answered, not without much trouble. She managed to let the others know that it was Yukio, at least. But why would she be so confused about something so simple as her own name?

Zephyr chuckled. "As you can see by everyone's strange appearances, we've taken the forms of the avatars that we used in the game, and after days of testing, I've found it impossible to refer to myself as anything other than my character's name. Which is Zephyr, if Cutemon did not inform you."

As Yukio now screamed, Agnes whole being froze for a moment. For Agnes was the name that came up in her head when she thought about her name. That was what had been bothering her before. She was Agnes. She wasn't... whoever she was before. This wasn't just a game; the realization struck her like a lightningbolt spell from one of her favorite old video games.

Slowly, she looked down. Her clothing was stylish. It looked like the school uniform of some japanes- RIGHT. She was the avatar she had created for herself in Tamers. The black coat was hanging down her back like a mantle and her very long, red hair fell over it like countless small streams of fire. She felt something that she hadn't thought about before, which now seemed very strange considering it wasn't really light; in a thick leather belt across her shoulder and chest, a thin sword hung in its sheath. Agnes really was like everything she had wanted to be. The most important thing of all then came to her mind. She looked down at her hands and legs. They were... thin. So thin. It looked like they didn't even have many muscles. But she didn't feel frail or weak at all. She slowly grabbed the chair firmly and felt her strong hands grasp the wood. She was still strong. But she was not fat. She was thin... it felt... incredible.

A weak smile spread across Agnes' face and her gaze floated off into nowhere. The eye-patched man had been convincing Yukio that he was telling the truth, and now he went silent for a moment as he approached the group of eggs that had been behind his chair.

"Now, as humans in this world, we have to become tamers in order to survive. You should all have a crest embedded into the back of your right hand that matches up with a crest on one of these eggs," he said.

Agnes heard this for some reason, and snapped back into reality. Or... whatever this was if it was not reality or a game. She felt strangely alive, anyways. She was free of her ugly body. She felt like she could do anything. She wanted to run and jump and she might even dare to start speaking to people. She wasn't an ugly geek anymore... wait, what had Zephyr just said? She looked down on her right hand again. There was indeed a mark there, reddish yellow in color. She turned back to Zephyr and saw an egg beside him with the same mark. A crest, it was called?

"When it hatches, you will gain both your partner and a Digivice, like so." Raising a hand to one of the eggs, a dark green light enveloped both his hand and the egg. When it faded, he had a strange device in his hand, and a strange smoke-creature rested before him. "Now, I expect you all do the same, before I continue my explanation. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me in the meantime."

Yukio got handed her egg by Zephyr and Agnes felt a sudden eagerness to get her hands on her egg too. Not bothering to sit still and wait for her turn, as she usually did in crowds, she immediately got up from her chair and barged forth to the egg with the matching crest. Her hand only swiftly touched it before they both started to glow in a flaming red color. In the blink of an eye, a chubby, red creature stood on a bench before Agnes, blinking with its little black eyes.

"Jyarimon..." it said softly, staring into her eyes.

"Agnes," she said back, finding it the most natural thing to say right there and then.

"Agnes!" the creature said and its mouth broke up into a smile as it bounced towards the girl, leaping up into her arms. She caught it and felt a strange warmth spread from where their skins touched. It felt like... this was right.

"Jyarimon..." she said, patting the little thing carefully. "My digimon?"

"My tamer," the digimon said in a solemn way, which looked a little weird for it being so small and child-like. It also tried to nod, but since it was just a big head, it didn't go that well. Agnes caught the drift though.

"Awesome. I'm a tamer. This is... AWESOME!" Agnes shouted out, no longer caring about what the older looking people in the room thought of her. She was thin, she was a tamer, she was probably cute as well, she even had a friggin sword! Almost every thought of the real world and of this being a glitched game or something flew out of her mind now, as she was holding her very own digimon partner in her arms.

The gathered room contains individuals of various descriptions, he notes. He clasps his hands together, palms facing outwards, and suppresses a slight yawn. Ho hum.

The man who is presumably called Zephyr has rather messy hair (not that he was in a position to comment on it, though), and appears to be fairly young, on the cusp of adulthood; a gauze eyepatch covers his right - uh, left, rather - eye. The boy nods, silently approving of the man's sharpness of dress.

To the side, he spots a vermilion-haired girl, dressed in a schoolgirl uniform of a distinct nationality (coughing slightly upon seeing this). His gaze wanders onto her visage for a moment, noting the same fiery tone in her eyes. The shade of her clothing, the litheness of her figure, and the sword at her side reminds him of something vaguely familiar - he's definitely seen that ensemble before. He can't exactly place a finger on it at the moment, however, and he moves on.

Another curious presence is the seemingly confused girl with a cascade of brilliantly white hair; a pair of horns protrude from the sides of her head, a little above her ears. Her outfit is ... really complicated, he thinks to himself, and shrugs. It is quite flowery, though; there are ornaments and embellishments all over the place.

He sees, aside from these three, an athletic man dressed in a fashion much too casual for his liking (A t-shirt! Blasphemy), with multi-hued hair that made him look like someone with either an emotional disorder or an affinity for distressing music; and another, even more muscled and well-built than his predecessor, with a pair headphones at his neck. His spectacles that don't exactly match his appearance, the boy thinks. He doesn't want very much to do with either of these individuals; athleticism is not his forte, and he doesn't especially want to converse with those who feel the need to express it in a medium such as this.

Finally, his vision comes to rest on the last three members of the meeting. The first is a woman with an imposing presence, clad in slate grey armor of dubious protective value, with a cape draped across her shoulders; her gear do not immediately sound a chord of recognition, but he also feels a slight tinge of cognizance. The second is a frail boy only four inches or so above him - or so it feels like - dressed in a relatively informal way as well, but he possesses a mellow calmness that instinctively places the boy into a state of requiescence. The only strange part of his person is his blue hair, but it matches his outfit well. Finally, a pink-red ... whatever ... Pastel red is the name he settles on for the hair color of the young woman in the butterfly dress; the garment looks surprisingly appropriate, though he wouldn't have imagined that black and purple would go well with her hair.

He only pays partial attention to the conversation attached to the speech that Zephyr is giving; a jolt of mild surprise mixed with congenial excitement shoots through his mind when he hears that his previous suspicion - that he was indeed entrapped in something extraordinary - confirmed. He glances at himself, sinking into thought.

    Something is definitely
off about me, but I can't remember what it could be...

He pauses at the comment about their physical existences being transferred to a different world, and dismisses it at first as a sign of immersive in-character roleplaying. The immediate distraught reaction of the girl called Yukiyo a moment later, however, forces him to reconsider his stance.

    Perhaps we
are in a new world... that would explain why everything feels so authentic.

His name! It's ... he sighs, suddenly prone to an unexplained attack of amnesia. Nocturne is the only word that manages to push itself towards the front of his mind. It will have to do, he supposes; he doesn't dislike the name, and finds it eminently suitable.

A musical form commonly found as a piece expressive of the mood or idea of night-time, usually for solo piano, though there have been exceptions.

"As you can see by everyone's strange appearances, we've taken the forms of the avatars that we used in the game, and after days of testing, I've found it impossible to refer to myself as anything other than my character's name. Which is Zephyr, if Cutemon did not inform you."

Zephyr enunciates these words, Nocturne begins to examine himself in a new light.

He's ... young. Very young. Maybe eleven or twelve, he thinks, and touches his shoulders. Unsurprisingly, a mantle of soft fur adorns them; the sensation is warm and comfortable, and he is thankful for it. Though his attire lost some of its consistency, it has made up for that in its increased number of applications - hiking boots and shorts, for example, are much more conducive to physical activity, if it has to come down to that. Regrettable, however, he muses, are the lack of gloves and the replacement of his gatsby for goggles.

This change isn't bad. I'll have to deal with the age difference, but being young isn't necessarily a disadvantage.

He needs to experiment with his new voice range sometime - as soon as he has the opportunity to.
In the meantime, however, Zephyr is beginning to speak again, pacing towards the group of eggs behind him.

"Now, as humans in this world, we have to become tamers in order to survive. You should all have a crest embedded into the back of your right hand that matches up with a crest on one of these eggs. When it hatches, you will gain both your partner and a Digivice, like so." Raising a hand to one of the eggs, a dark green light envelopes both Zephyr's hand and the egg. When it fades, a strange device has materialized in his hand, along with the appearance nearby of a smoke-creature.

A crest? Nocturne glances at the indicated location, and, true to Zephyr's word, a mark is present, resembling a hollow circle crossed by a line, though the middle of the circle is instead split into two roughly equal halves by an arc. He nods in apprehension, and imitates Zephyr, taking an egg from the table with his left hand and extending his right towards it. An aquamarine radiance surrounds his form momentarily, and a pastry-shaped ball with vaguely canine ears and features stares inquisitively up at him.

"Hi." Nocturne smiles encouragingly at the creature, who sniffs inquisitively in response. Its - his? her? Nocturne wasn't sure. - eyes focus on the device in his hand, and its right right ear snaps up in a gesture reminiscent of a salute.

    "Master!"

Nocturne blinks in amazement, then coughs softly. "... Hm. My name is Nocturne; I think calling me that would be fine. Thank you, though." He tilts his head slightly to the side, inspecting the creature more closely. "Er... what's your name?" It - the voice was rather masculine, so likely it was a he - does have a name, doesn't he?

"I'm Paomon. Pleased to meet you, master!" The spherical creature raises its left ear as well in enthusiasm.

"Indeed. I hope we work well together." Well ... it's not like habits are easy to break. He decides to not correct Paomon for the present, and shifts his attention back to Zephyr.

    Ven

The boy slowly opened his eyes, taking in the others around him. Him?... He looked to see the one with only one visible eye, Zephyr it seemed to be, watching them all. A chill went down his spine. Being stared at was unusual. The sensation bothered him immensely for some reason. He wondered... and then pushed it aside, listening to Zephyr or whoever this was. A part of him didn't like this guy. He wasn't certain why but perhaps it was simply the aura that presented itself around him. He couldn't be sure.

Abruptly the boy wondered, as that girl with the white hair had done herself, what his name was. There was another, he knew that, but all he could think of was a three letter word: Ven. Short but apt he guessed. Ven settled back quietly, watching and listening. He couldn't help but smile a little at the red-haired girl's excitement, wondering why there wasn't that feeling in him. There was a small bubbling in his chest but that was about all.

A white-haired girl with horns had spoken and Zephyr had of course given the answer. "Nope, we're in the original world. The game is based on this place." The eye-patched man answered quickly, a little too quickly in Ven's mind. He wants to keep control of the situation... I suppose that's all right for now... he's the only with answers at the moment... "If any of you remember floating in the darkness, you could say that was actually the process of your consciousness being uploaded into this Digital World that is home to the Digimon. The actual process had some bizarre effects on our forms, though."

Like on who we are? Ven didn't remember his name or really... who he was. It made him worry, as if his other self didn't matter any longer. He looked at himself a little more. He felt like he was missing something but what that was he couldn't say. The outfit was comfortable though so he couldn't complain.

The others were looking at the eggs now, at the marks on their hands. He took a glance at his own, seeing a sun with a ray shooting down. He found the egg and held out his hand to it, causing a golden glow to appear. It faded into a strange blue and amethyst device and a little white creature with wings and a horn. The creature bounced at him, tackling him in his seat and nearly knocking him over.

"Hihihihihihi~" it squealed, settling for bouncing on his hands. "I know you don't I? Yes I do! I don't know your name but I do know that I am Puttimon. So you must tell me your name and you need to do that right now!"

The boy blinked at the odd, warm creature in his hands. It felt safe.... warm... as though there had never been a time when this creature hadn't belonged in his life. Slowly a smile spread across the boy's face and he managed to introduce himself. "...Ven..."

The creature frowned for a brief second before beaming. "Ven huh? Okay Ven! Ylou talk slow but I'll talk for you! I talk a lot you see and I can say everything! ANYTHING!" Ven tilted his head slowly before nodding. "GREAT! So..." He looked around quizzically. "What's gonna happen next?"

    PoisonLily *Lily*

After another four people came, all of them boys, Zephyr finally started to talk piercing the cloud of questions that were filling everyone's thoughts. The pink haired girl listened carefully from her seat with her legs crossed and her hands on the table. The rest were also sitting quietly, either anxious or cautious of what was to come. After a formal greeting Zephyr got down to business.

"I'm sure most of you recall playing a game called 'Tamers'. Well, somehow we've ended taking up a physical existence in the world the game was modelled after." He said and of course the ones who still thought this was a simple game burst out, the pink haired girl thought to herself seeing as the girl with white hair and horns was the first to question the idea. However when she first woke up in the telephone booth and seeing that the place felt too real to be just a simple game, the pink haired girl knew that something was strange. Finally when the rest settled Zephyr continued.

"Nope, we're in the original world. The game is based on this place. If any of you remember floating in the darkness, you could say that was actually the process of your consciousness being uploaded into this Digital World that is home to the Digimon. The actual process had some bizarre effects on our forms, though. For example, could I have your name?" asking the white hair girl. To everyone's amazement after the girl hardly blurted out "Yukiyo" and looked like that name never crossed her mouth, the pink hair girl tried to remember her name but the only thing that came into her mind was PoisonLily. She tried to say it but the result was the same. The only moment when she felt she was going to say another name she blurted out Lily. Guess she would have to settle for wither PoisonLily or her short form. " Mostly Lily for now!" she thought to herself.

"As you can see by everyone's strange appearances, we've taken the forms of the avatars that we used in the game, and after days of testing, I've found it impossible to refer to myself as anything other than my character's name. Which is Zephyr, if Cutemon did not inform you."

" Interesting…." Lily said as she examined herself top to bottom. The leather dress that went down to her hips then turned into a cape robe was very nice. She remembered the hardship she had on designing her character and immediately checked to see if everything was as she imagined her to be. She saw the butterfly wings coming from her back and the butterfly hairpin on her left side. As soon as she felt the hairpin she turned and looked into the window at her face. She looked beautiful and her pink to red hair that was set into a ponytail was just as she imagined. Her true self would be jealous even if in the real world she couldn't complain that she wasn't pretty. Then she turned her eyes towards the rest as at first when she came she didn't really care to what the other really looked like. " All of them looked pleased of what they look……of course except Yukiyo who apparently is a boy." She thought to herself then got back to reality and continued to hear Zephyr's explanation.

"Now, as humans in this world, we have to become tamers in order to survive. You should all have a crest embedded into the back of your right hand that matches up with a crest on one of these eggs. When it hatches, you will gain both your partner and a Digivice, like so." And with that he went towards the egg that had his crest on it and with a green flash of light that enveloped both him and the egg a smoke creature appeared before him. As soon as he got his digimon he took and egg and tossed it to Yukiyo and again it started to glow….this time in a light red colour and the result was a digimon that looked like a little bear head. After that went the red hair girl and after that two of the boys. As the Nocturne, as Lily heard, met his partner Lily was looking at the crest on her hand. The crest had a strange symbol that resembled a cross with four rectangular triangles along the sides of the cross. Indeed the symbol stirred some interest into Lily and was simply hypnotized by the curiosity.

After returning from her trance she walked carefully passing by the others who had just received their digimon and went towards the egg that matched her crest. She touched it gentle with just the tip of her fingers and her body and egg started radiating in a light pink colour. The egg was enveloped by light and from it hatched a seed like digimon that had two tiny leafs sprouting from its black like body. Lily was staring amazed at the tiny creature that was on the table.

" Hello miss, my name is Nyokimon!!! " the digimon joyfully bounced into Lily's arms.

"Hello there. I'm PoisonLily or Lily for short." She said smiling back at the digimon that was overjoyed to see her tamer.

" Yay I finally get to met my tamer." Bouncing in her arms crying out her vocal cords. Meanwhile Lily was looking at the digivice that formed in her right hand. It was coloured in black and pink….a strange yet nice combination to say the least. Then Lily turned to Nyokimon as she finally settled down. The little creature was starring curiously at Lily's hair. " It's so cute!!!" the pokemon cried.

"My hairpin?! Thanks." giggling. Her digimon was very cute and suited her well. " Guess we'll make a great team!" she said then turning away from the table making way for the rest to come and pick their egg.

    This is Real?

Looking around the room, the boy wasn't surprised to see that everyone in the room looked so different. They were all in a game, anyone could look the way they want. Five had been in the room before him each with different looks.

The first person the teen noticed was the only other man, obviously standing out with all the women in the room. The first thing noticeable was his gauze eye patch on his left eye. It was a bit menacing, but even more was the way he looked at everyone. It was as if he was trying to read their minds or find problems with them. The teen didn't like him at all. Even if he was looking just like the teen, he still seemed to have an air of mischief. Moving on, the teen spotted a young girl with white and, well, horns.

Well, that a bit creepy, he thought. Again the boy looked on to find a redheaded girl with a sword on her side. Why would one need a sword in this? But again, it was her avatar. One of the two girls left in the room was wearing armor as a top while the other seemed to be wearing a sort of butterfly arrangement and pinkish red hair.

Unfortunately, even for being in a game, the man still thought the girls were actually quite pretty. He didn't really seem to care on how they looked in real life, especially because of the fact he'd never meet any of them.

Before long, more people started to show, all of which were boys. The first to come in after him was a rather frail looking boy with blue hair. Later on, another teen boy walked in. He seemed to have a similar build to himself, though a bit more muscular. He wore a pair of headphones around his neck. Hmm, he thought, quite normal looking... He must've had the same thoughts as me. Finally, the last boy, or at least what the teen thought was the last kid, walked in. He looked to be quite young. Younger than everyone else in the room at least... The pre-teen's clothes were rather sporadic with a fur coat and shorts and hiking boots.

Overall, it looked to be a good group even when everyone seemed to be distrustful right now. Truthfully, the teen felt the same way at the time.

Almost immediately after the last kid walked in did Zephyr start talking. He seemed to be taking the reins in the situation and he apparently seemed to know quite a bit of stuff about it already. He was talking about how they were in the world the game was based off. One girl, the one with horns, was the first to argue. The speaker simply answered with a remark of asking her her name. It took a second, but the girl soon answered with "Y-Yukiyo. That's not right, sorry. My name is Yukiyo! No! Yukiyo! My name is Yukiyo!"

No matter what she tried to say, she couldn't say it. It was odd. The teen decided to think of his own name and to his surprise, he couldn't think of his either, only Shadowtorn and Torn. He knew it wasn't right, yet he couldn't correct himself. He was Torn now...

Zephyr continued with saying that each and everyone of them had taken the form of their avatar. For the first time, the Torn seemed to realize his own appearance had changed. Looking into a nearby mirror, his appearance was pretty plain with the only weird thing being his hair. It was just like he made it with the colors of black, red, and blue in the classic emo style. I wonder if I can change later on, he thought while he looked and everyone else's styles. But what if he's telling the truth? The last thought came rather randomly, as if he hadn't thought it himself yet when he did, he couldn't help but agree.

Finally, the speaker ended with a statement about a "crest" on the back of everyone's hands as well as explaining how it will open an egg behind him with a device called a Digivice. The teen demonstrated and after a green light appeared and disappeared, a device was in his hand and a smoky creature in front of him. He threw an egg to the girl and within seconds, others had gotten up to grab their own. All of them had gotten their creatures to appear.

Torn was interested now, even if this was real. He wanted to have a partner or whatever. This was finally getting fun. He moved his right hand in front of him and looked at the symbol that, true to Zephyr's word, was on the back of it. The symbol or crest was similar in shape to half a yin-yang sign and was composed of three different parts. He saw the same sign on one of the eggs and, almost casually, got up to grab it. An orangish light appeared almost instantaneously and after it disappeared, Shadowtorn had a Digivice in his hand and a creature on his shoulder that looked almost exactly like Zephyr's.

The creature was completely made of smoke and was smiling right at him. "Are you my Tamer?" it asked Torn.

Tamer? The teen thought. Am I it's Tamer? "I think so," he answered. It was odd having the being smile at him so much and for a second. it reminded Torn of himself and constant show of kindness to people. "Anyways," he continued, "my name is, err... Shadowtorn or Torn for short." The name still felt odd to him but if he couldn't use his real name, why not use it?

"I'm Mokumon," the monster replied enthusiastically. "You can call me anything you want though!" The creature had already came off as loud before but now he only seemed extremely boisterous.

"I'll keep that in mind," Torn told it as he looked around. I need to talk to someone, he thought.

    AGNES:.

Agnes was quite bewilded, holding her very own digimon in her arms. It was so cute with its little ears and big black buttons for eyes. If she had been rational right now, she should perhaps calm down and act cool, but she was so happy about her new body and being a Tamer, so she felt like she could do anything, rational or not. She looked up to see how the others had reacted. They all seemed happy to meet their digimon and they had gotten small digivices as well... right. The digivice! Where was hers?

She only had to look down to realize that it was hanging in a leather band around her neck, just as she had designed Agnes to be. Agnes... that was her. That wasn't just some girl on a screen. How strange!

Looking up at the others again, she noticed that one of the boys had the same digimon as Zephyr. Of course, many digimon shared lower evolution forms. Maybe they wouldn't evolve into the same digimon eventually. She felt quite proud of knowing this, even though it was a simple thing. No longer hindered by her looks or reputation from the real world, she smoothly approached the boy that wasn't Zephyr. The one that was slightly emo-like.

"Nice digimon," she said. It was what flew out of her mouth without her thinking. She didn't really think it looked nice; a dust cloud with creepy eyes was its form. Nevertheless, if she showed weakness now, she'd never be able to live out this new shape of hers properly! "I'm Agnes and this is Jyarimon. Who are you guys?"

    Who Are You Guys?

Almost as soon as Torn thought about talking to someone, a conversation had been started. It was the redheaded girl with the sword and the cute Japanese school uniform.

"Nice digimon," she said. "I'm Agnes and this is Jyarimon. Who are you guys?"

In the beginning, Torn had actually thought the girl was probably the most nervous. She had been in her chair and just seemed lonesome, but now... Now she was confident and happened to be the first human, besides Zephyr, to talk to another human. Man, the emo-haired teen thought, my judge of character must be really bad or she just changed.

Anyways, the teen soon replied to her, deciding to not think about character anymore. "Well, apparently my name is Shadowtorn, or Torn if you'd like, and this little..." Torn paused as he went to describe his Digimon. The creature wasn't necessarily nice looking like the girl had said but... "This little smoke Digimon is named Mokumon, although he would rather be called something else."

Now that the guy was on a roll with talking to the girl, he didn't really want to stop talking just yet. He decided however, that moving on with the conversation was likely best and asked a question. "So, what do you think of the situation we seem to be in?"

Zephyr smirked, his eyes drifting from tamer to tamer as he got a feel for the group. Pawns, all of them highly usable to be sure. He had been trapped in this warped world for several days now, unsure of what to do, but the Gods had apparently smiled upon him this time! "As for what we do next, I think it's imperative we look for a way to return to our world. There is no way for us to know what may have happened to our real forms when we got brought into the game, so we could be unconscious, or worse." He heavily accented the last word, hoping to net someone into inquiring.

"Worse? What do you mean worse?" The white haired girl spoke up for the first time since receiving her Digimon. Of course it would be the one who seemed most distraught that would take such obvious bait. She was surely to amuse Zephyr later on.

The young man adorned his most convincing expression of sorrow at the question. "Well... there is a chance our real bodies are dead, or will do so if we don't get back quickly." It was a vague explanation at best, but he wanted them to ask questions. With questions, he could fabricate answers regarding the state of things. There was no doubt that this world held real threats as well, judging by the state of the city. So, regardless, they'd have to learn how to use the monsters sooner or later.

    .:AGNES

"Well, apparently my name is Shadowtorn, or Torn if you'd like," the guy that Agnes had spoken to replied after looking at her for a moment. "And this little... This little smoke Digimon is named Mokumon, although he would rather be called something else."

"Oh, a name?" Agnes said, blinking and taking a closer look at Mokumon. "I thought Mokumon and Jyarimon was their names. Do you need another name?" The last bit, she added to her own digimon, which was still in her arms.

Jyarimon looked like it wanted to shrug. "I don't know, Agnes!" it said honestly.

Torn didn't seem to want to stop talking to Agnes just yet, even though she had turned her attention back to her digimon now. "So, what do you think of the situation we seem to be in?" he asked her.

That shifted the red head's attention again and she wrinkled her forehead. "Let me think for a moment..." Agneta's personality was still there. It couldn't be changed quickly just by changing the girl's appearance. "We all woke up in some place and met with that pink little rabbit that led us here, right? And we can't feel our VR helmets... we can't seem to open any menu and we can touch and feel our digimon and..."

She just had to test something. Quickly, she reached out her hand - her very tiny hand compared to what she was used to - and carefully grabbed Torn's elbow. She could feel that it was a real person she was grabbing. "Oh, sorry," she said, pulling her hand back. "I just needed to check if you were real. Or at least if you felt real."

She looked at the other people in the room and crossed her small arms over her chest. "I thought this Zephyr would be a Game Master that could tell us that they are working on fixing whatever bug causes this. But... it doesn't seem like he is." She pouted a little. As much as she didn't want to admit it, she wasn't sure of what was going on. At all.

"You then, Torn. Do you have any thoughts about our situation?" she asked reluctantly. Maybe he was smarter than he looked.

    --

"As for what we do next, I think it's imperative we look for a way to return to our world," Zephyr then said so that everyone could hear him. "There is no way for us to know what may have happened to our real forms when we got brought into the game, so we could be unconscious, or worse."

Agnes gasped. Good grace! What if they were stuck in here for so long that she couldn't go to toilet when her real body needed it? The horror! Not to mention eating... or sleeping. She had once been up for 36 hours in one streak - nothing she ever wanted to go through again. Time was against them, then... The white haired girl with the horns showed her reaction out loud.

"Well... there is a chance our real bodies are dead, or will do so if we don't get back quickly."

    Zephyr's explanation confirmed Agnes' thoughts.

"WE HAVE TO START WORKING ON GETTING BACK IMMEDIATELY!" she shouted out. Agneta's true personality shone through now, when it wasn't hindered by things like looks and rumors and history. She was smart and she would use her smarts whether or not the others liked it! "But where should we start?" she mumbled much quieter so that only Torn beside her could hear.

Then her eyes widened. "Jyarimon! You're a digimon, do you know anything useful about this world?" she asked the little creature in her arms.

"Agnes... I was just born," it replied with a sweatdrop in its face.

"Oh," Agnes said, blushing. Her career as a smart, cool, cute girl didn't start off well. But she wouldn't give up just yet. There was someone more here who had been here for longer than they had.

"You!" she said, pointing a hand straight at Zephyr's face. "How exactly did you get here? How did you get Cutemon and the others to... well, to work for you?"

    Ven

The others were slightly noisy. It was almost annoying. He quietly thought to himself, watching as Puttimon bounced and chattered excitedly right by his ear. "...Dai..." he murmured sternly. "...Hush please..." The creature paused and grinned.

"Dai? I like that! I like that a lot! Why did you call me Dai? Wait I don't care!" The angel giggled. "You called me Dai and that made me happy! So whatever!" Ven frowned quizzically.

    "... Hush..."

The creature nodded. "Oh right!" Thankfully he listened now, flapping his wings excitedly.

Ven closed his eyes again, listening to the others speak. Zephyr's words bothered him... he didn't grasp why exactly but they set him more on edge perhaps than they ought to have. "...Knows too much..." he murmured aloud. Zephyr is a user of knowledge... but that doesn't mean he is wrong. It means to be wary, to take everything not at face value. He understood that, at least a little bit.

Like Agnes, the idea of being dead was terrifying him. But it was on the inside, a chill of frostbite. If they were dead... what could they do about it from here in the first place? If you were dead... weren't you dead? BUt... that was a worst-case scenario. For all they knew, they could be sleeping. And besides... returning to life seemed implausible and more pain than profit. It was best to work through this world.

Eyes observed that they had monsters, Digimon. Typically monsters and humans alike fought for survival. It was rather simple to believe the same for right now, except they were together. Ven did not grasp why Zephyr was hiding this fact from the others. It wasn't a very odd concept to understand. He thinks we are beneath him perhaps... Maybe so, but Ven wouldn't comment on it.

Instead he very quietly commented. "... Humans aren't common here... maybe... so he probably came the same way as us... and convinced them to help..."

Ven privately thought to himself that if he was here long he would leave as quickly as possible. This place didn't seem all that safe in itself. But Zephyr likely had more ambition than he did.

    Shadowtorn

"You then, Torn. Do you have any thoughts about our situation?" The girl said to him. She herself had seemed to be getting at the fact that all of this was real and, well, Torn had to agree with the woman, especially after she grabbed his elbow. Yep, he thought, that was definitely real. After thinking about it, what else could explain all of this?

"My own thoughts," Torn began. "Well, I have to say I basically agree with you and with this Zephyr guy. I don't know how but this place is to realistic to be fake in anyway... I mean we are here mentally, but supposedly our physical bodies are not. What happened to them?" For some reason, his voice seemed to waver as he talked. Whether it was for the simple fact that he might fear the situation they were in or something else, he didn't know.

Moving a hand behind his neck to simply support it a little, he smiled, hoping to have the girl not notice the small amount of fear. Torn opened his mouth once again to talk but was soon interrupted before he even started by Zephyr.

"As for what we do next, I think it's imperative we look for a way to return to our world," the mysterious teen said as if he was already the leader of the group. Torn couldn't help but feel a little resentment for the man. Does he think he's better than us? We just met and he seems so cocky.

Zephyr continued into talking about their real bodies and how they could be unconscious, or even dead... The white haired girl was the first to do anything as she questioned him in anguish. Agnes was the next to move on, an outburst of worry being her first statement before mumbling a smaller statement that Torn seemed to be the only one to hear.

"But where should we start?" That was what he heard from her and Torn himself started to wonder the same thing. It didn't take long for him to start thinking of a plan, though it may take a while before he finished.

"We'll find something out," he whispered to the girl, trying to at least calm her down a bit.

Agnes continued with a small barrage of questions towards the cocky man. The man himself didn't answer just yet but another kid, the frail one with blue hair, did.

"... Humans aren't common here... maybe... so he probably came the same way as us... and convinced them to help..."

He has a point, Torn thought to himself. It's not like he started this... But could he have? As much as he didn't really want to say anything just yet, he chose to. "How do you know all of this already," he asked. "On my way here, Cutemon said he knew nothing about all of this so how would you?" It was a well thought out question in Shadowtorn's mind and he waited for the answer, hoping it would be explainable.
