Meh, it is what it is. The series reintroduced me to the Virtual Reality trope after a few years of finishing .Hack so it keeps a place in my interests.

Anyway, I just like some things that others do not. Such is life. Still that's why anime is an interesting medium. You have a bunch of choices to pick from.

His character has a history of stopping them, though. It would be inconsistent with his character if he wasn't stopping it at this point.

Plus, you don't have to subscribe to the ideology of The Red Pill to find trench coats cool. They're not exclusively the domain of unsolicited exhibitionists, after all. Trigun, a relatively "mainstream" anime in America a decade ago, has its main character with a bright red trench coat, and many upstanding video game nerds found them cool at that point in time.

That said, I don't find them cool. They're not terrible if you can pull them off, but few can. Plus, I've always preferred slimmer, more athletic gear for my coats and not feeling like I'm being worn by them.

I'm not one for trench coats either. I dont have one for one thing lol. I'm more of a hoodie or jacket person. It's just that SAO matched the genre that I have consistently liked over the years. If you look at some of the stuff that's been my favorite over the years you'd find that sci-fi and fantasy has been a part of it for most of my life.

2011: Negima, Dennou Coil

Heck my username even comes from Rockman.EXE and Balmung from .Hack

Anyway. Yeah my tastes are fairly consistent.

My football team went out of a cup to lower league opposition for the second time this season. Everything is a bit grim right now.

At least my NFL bandwagon are doing better.
