Do you have any human original characters for the series?

OCs are pretty popular in certain fandoms and Pokémon is one of them! Do you have any original characters? Are they entirely original, or based on you (or someone else)? How many do you have? Or do you have none at all?

I used to have a Gym Leader Sona loosely based on me and my mono-Ice in-game team, but he's since evolved into a Trainer Sona based almost entirely on me (as seen in my avi, courtesy of cheerymori) and things I've encountered IRL. I've been wanting to make one of those cool Trainer profiles for him for years, but I forgot how to art... :(

My very first OC was a Dark-type user. I'm pretty sure his design was supposed to be a Poké-fied version of my original GaiaOnline avi, which was something like a punk goth version of Koga from Inuyasha. His initial team was based on my Colosseum or XD team IIRC, but he'd eventually become a Legendary/Mythical-user since Mew and Ho-Oh were my favorite Pokémon at the time. Later tried reworking him into a Fighting-type Gym Leader for a dead fan-game idea before scrapping him altogether.

Yes! I used to have a lot of OCs prior to the pandemic. Eventually, though, I became more and more comfortable with having just one that conspicuously resembled me in everything but appearance, because God forbid you have an outright self-insert or they'll be branded a Mary Sue. Nevermind that said OC was a self-insert in her origins, but I mistakenly phased out those aspects because I thought I would be a more "mature" writer if I did so. (How the hell I came to believe that is beyond me.)

Thankfully, in the end, I left the friend group that encouraged such a mentality, and after coming back from the Star Wars, I decided to go all-out and make said OC a full-blown self-insert like I did in that fandom. I'm still overcoming the shame stemming from all the hate I was exposed to and from my own intrusive thoughts about the matter, but it feels good to come clean. I was gonna say that you shouldn't expect me to publish any stories that feature my self-insert, but maybe I should do it as a form of exposure.

...also, my self-insert is totally not currently living in an alternate version of the Pokémon world where a lot of aspects of a certain Italian fan game are canon. It's like I fit in perfectly in there for some reason.

I did. I wrote a PMD fanfiction over a decade ago, her name was Luna & she was turned into a Togepi. I remember when she was human she had violet hair, but it's been so long at this point I'd have to dig out my ficwad account, tbh.

I have one that is overarching, began in Kanto and soon will be making their way to Paldea, and is based on me over the years. I have also made ones just based on the games or generations, however you want to put it, so in total it would be ten with only one being still done today.
