Do you pick your Pokemon on your team because of design, or battle prowess?

I'd say maybe about 80% design, and the rest battle prowess usually. But if I'm breeding for battle or whatever, then that could change, maybe like 65% design, 35% prowess. I just find it a lot more enjoyable to play with those I like (where design plays a big role in deciding). Still, I sometimes choose based on prowess, especially if they have move pools I find intriguing/annoying.

Design all the way. That's the only factor for me. I don't care about the others. Bottom line I want a good-looking team. I would care about battle prowess, if only I had to win.

I usually go for both, but my decisions are mostly inclined towards design. Anyways, if I find a Pokemon with a very good strategy, I go and train one, but not as enthusiastic as another but with a design I like.

My team is based on Stats, design and movepools

I always look out for stats in the right places, good movepools as well as in-battle capability and reliability while deciding on my team members. High attack/special attack coupled with decent to high speed and decent defence is preferable. I don't really pick based on design. There are Pokemon that may look good but might have stats in the wrong places or might just be weaker in comparison to another. There is more than what meets the eye.

I usually pick all my teams based on what I feel like using. Stats are the lowest qualification for me. Aesthetics are important too. I don't like using stuff that I don't think looks good together, unless I'm doing it because I think it's funny. What a weird sense of humor...yeesh. lol

I go by design most of the time. I don't care muh about the stats. I mean once in a whole I'll go with stats, but it's mostly just go through the game and capture/use what appeals to me.

I go for both.I have a competetive team which I use on online battle and a non-competetive team which I am using on a normal gameplay.

I try to make it both. For example, I love how Blaziken looks, so I have him on my team for that reason, BUT, if he did not fight well, I'd probably leave him out and replace him with a Pokemon that I think looks great and fights well. I like a lot good fighting Pokemon so this is pretty easy for me.

Hmm tough question, I like to keep it simple almost all the time by choosing my team by design, I only rarely choose them by anything else really, but I would enjoy it if it looked cool and at the same time would be a really good pokemon, just saying.

Mostly design but stats get factored into the mix, too. As much as I love Skitty and Delcatty because they're adorable I can't use it on my team again because it is so unbearably weak, for example. I like decent stats but if the Pokemon doesn't look cool or cute to me then I won't use it. :o

My teams normally consist on their type. I generally keep a Water, Fire and Grass type readily available along with an Ice; those are my favourite. The design of a Pokemon does factor in a bit because I have my favourites and my not-so-favourites that I keep in storage DX

I do like to have a diversity on types but for my main team I generally stick with Pokemon I like design wise. However, on X I'm currently building my competitive team and that's a whoooooole other story.

Design. I don't like to pick Pokemon on your team in the main games with battle prowess.
And that is, if I have yet to finish the game.

I pick them based on how they look. Charizard looks awesome, so I include Charmander on my team. Skitty is just so cute that I have to include one on my team! That's only for in game teams, though. In competitive battling, I pick the Pokemon that suits my needs best. My best friend has a tendency to switch out when he's at a disadvantage and Mega Gengar completely destroys that strategy. He also likes to use Pokemon that are really fast and Pikachu stops that with Thunder Wave.

When I pick my Pokemon team it is ALWAYS based on design. I like to have 6 different types, but they are always my favorite looking Pokemon of that type. Another thing I do is only use Pokemon from the generation of game I'm playing. Apparently this is not very common. I just think it's silly to have a new game with hundreds of new Pokemon and continue to use the few same Pokemon that I originally used in the first gen. I want to get a feel for the new Pokemon otherwise it takes away from the fun. I also no matter what, keep my starter throughout the entire game. I wouldn't have it any other way. If you train them well and teach them good moves you can beat the main game with ANY Pokemon and that's all that matters to me.

Well, it depends. Sadly, most of my favourite pokemon ( Tyranitar, Nidoking, Gardevoir, Ariados, Pidgeot, Luxray and especially GLALIE ) disappoint me stat-wise, but I will still use them during the course of the story ( pokemon games are super easy anyways ). If I have to make a competitive team, then I look at typing, abilities, and BST and try to follow a strategy, and this means I never use the pokemon I like when battling competitively ( which, for this reason, equals to almost never ). In the end, I just open up a rom and hack in my favourite pokemon with the stats I find appropriate for them, and then I'm set for an awesome playthrough.

Design, always! If I find a Pokemon really gross I probably won't ever use it. I still haven't used a Muk or Weezing after all these years.

I've been known to put Pokemon I find adorable on my team even if their stats are quite dismal. And that's how I like it... One of my favorite parts about Pokemon is how adorable and/or beautiful some pokemon can be, and I never like to taint that experience by putting something ugly on my team, no matter how "strong" it is. It adds a little challenge anyway :3

Almost entirely design, even competitively. I only really play with Pokemon that I like to look at. Stats come into the mix when I have two I like equally and one is just better than the other.
