Do You Think You're Smart?

I wish I was really smart. Like, I don't feel as though I really am. It does depend on what I'm skilled at. I'm really bad at math, but I'm not bad when it comes to writing and expressing myself? Yeah.

Something else that makes me think I'm smart is the fact that I'm sometimes philosophical. I have my moments of wisdom, and even have my own sayings. That, and my modesty. Or is it modesty?

I'm smart but I'm not. I have the mental capacity which far exceeds many peoples, I also learn things quickly, have a relatively high IQ and can do many things which require brain power with minimal effort. Unfortunately, I have a habit of being quite lazy which contradicts my smarts in a way, causing me to not be bothered with things if I find them boring, unnecessary or not hard enough. Which was 95% of school lol. In saying so, if I really want to do anything, I can do it quite easily. I simply tell people I'm smart but I'm an idiot aswell

I have no idea what my IQ is, but I'd say with the life experience I now have I'm a lot smarter than I was at school/college.

I can still be quite dumb sometimes though!

When it comes to academic or work-related stuff, I can say without any false modesty: yes, I am, and very much so. Valedictorian, all that stuff.

When it comes to everything else in life, I completely and utterly suck. No street smarts whatsoever.

I'm quite an unbalanced individual :D .

Yes, very much so. However I'm not the sort of person to push myself and go far with that on my own. What makes me intelligent? Well, as with anyone it's a combination of genetics and a stable, loving upbringing (though I missed out on the loving part myself), and probably a lot of other factors I and no one else knows about yet, or we'd just be 3D printing smart people like it's Christmas.

Can a lazy person be smart?
Yes. Intelligent people are generally less happy with the world, so they could be construed as more lazy as they find and pursue less of significant value to them, though they are at the same time more inclined and able to change what they don't like, so in that respect they would be more driven. I don't know but I would think motivation probably varies as much between individuals as it does, regardless of their particular level of intelligence.

My incredibly shitty memory capabilities kind of ruins any chance I have of being smart. I generally feel pretty dumb pretty often, and sometimes it makes me sad, heh c:
Memory ability does correlate with intelligence iirc but I too suffer from an abnormally bad one; don't assume it has all that much of a bearing on your exact intelligence.

I sometimes lack common sense haha but barring that . . . I think I am intelligent in the sense of cleverness and cunning. A schemer if you will. I try and turn situations into a favourable outcome for myself.

I think I'm smart at some things, but there are a lot of more logical topics in the world that I can't comprehend.
