I want to know which word you use. Kill or KO? I personally use KO word because kill would be little brutal. Which sounds better? "I just killed Pokémon." or "I just KO'd Pokémon. So I want to know opinions. :)
I use kill and faint interchangeably when describing a successful Pokemon battle. I know they don't actually die when their HP goes to 0, but saying 'kill' has a much more final ring to it... as if you're never going to be bothered by this critter again. Obviously that's not true, but it's part of my weird-ass thought process.
Tot.
Because there is no point in using English words when I don't have to, and the adjective 'tot' (=dead) is way shorter than any other common death-related word and like Toujours I'm lazy, so...
I'd just use kill/die as common colloquialisms for losing a player in most games. Probably because games quickly adopted the concept of characters having "lives".
For what it's worth, the internal filename for the fainting sound is named POKE_DEAD.
KO is what's intended. Fainting is what's intended. It's been like that since the beginning. Using "kill" doesn't make sense when it's an entirely separate concept. So I always avoid using "kill" when it isn't what's happening.
Kill is to violent a word. I always use "defeated". Well, since I am a Filipino, I use my mother tongue's version which is "natalo." Trashed is also a good word.
