Yes. I really want her to leave. I stopped watching the Pokémon Anime a while ago, mainly because... I found her annoying. She's a really poor character, both Misty and May were much better.

[PokeCommunity.com] Do you want Dawn to leave?

How did you not see that?

Sadly, the vocal minority of that group won't shut up.
Sarcasm doesn't work in Internet at all. But yes I saw that and I used it either.

And we will not shut up, because we see how the show is going wrong, we are loyal fans, so it's normal thing. You should be accustomed.

I like Dawn but if she leaves, there is nothing we can do. I will be a little sad but oh well.

And we will not shut up, because we see how the show is going wrong, we are loyal fans, so it's normal thing. You should be accustomed.
Do you mean your a loyal fan for misty? or loyal fan to the anime?
If you ment a loyal fan to the anime you wouldn't be conplianing about how the anime has gone wrong... you would stay loyal to it, stick by your writers and well... enjoy it!
If you ment misty... well... shes gone... bye bye, cherio, ta-ta for now :) I liked misty alot, shes my favourite outta the girls but im not gonna complain about how i want her back :\ I know as time would go bye she would just get boring....

Also, weedle, whats this about misty being a good role model?!?! She wasnt a good role model at all! If ash did something wrong she would grab his shirt and scream in his face (although i did like that about her) Now i dont think thats good role model behavior is it?

Nostalgia? Maybe a little, but not at all. Misty is creative and interesting character and I would not get tired of her.
Urm, you do realise that misty is no where near creative to Dawn and May right? Dawn and May pretty much top co-ordinators, in contests its all about being creative! I dont belive that you wont get bored of her though... i bet 5 bucks after 10 episodes of misty Fans will starts complaining they want May or Dawn back!

All this stupid nostaliga junk needs its own thread!!!

If that's the case, you should complain about how Ash and Brock still being here, as well as Team Rocket.

And another thing, I don't want the show to die. However, I will be left with no choice but to make it suffer if they don't bring her back and stop the madness about girl-swapping. If i were truly disloyal to the Anime, I'd hate it with a passion and laugh sadistically if it comes to an end.

Also, weedle, whats this about misty being a good role model?!?! She wasnt a good role model at all! If ash did something wrong she would grab his shirt and scream in his face (although i did like that about her) Now i dont think thats good role model behavior is it?

If we go by that logic, then Ash himself isn't a good role model either due to his mistakes, his arrogance at times, his being fooled easily. Don't even get me started on Brock. If we go by that, then absolutely no character is a good role model, period, not just in pokemon, but in all areas, due to inherent flaws. The only way, by the logic you gave, one could ever amount to be a good role model is if the person has absolutely no flaws of any kind whatsoever. Is that right?

And you have absolutely no idea about how worse of a role model May and Dawn are. Wanna know what they are comparable to? I'll give you a list: The girls from Princess vs. Princess, the Girls from Love Hina, the girls from Two and a Half Men, the triplets from Beauty and the Beast, the anime version of Sonsaku Hakufu from Battle Vixens, Witchblade, all of those characters I saw as being far more similar to May and Dawn.

Ehhh, let's see, Dawn is basically a carbon copy of May's character, May in herself is basically that of the cliche'd female fanservice airhead that's been used in Anime countless times in the past, as is Dawn. Misty... really didn't have any parallels to her that I could see, even with the supposed Tsundere stereotype that she has, as Jessie's far more matching of that stereotype. And why aren't you complaining about Ash or Brock then? You claim that the fans will hate Misty if she returns after ten episodes, yet I never even saw you on any of the threads hate Ash or Brock due to their staying long after their due. If fans were going to hate Misty for that, they would also hate Ash and Brock for that as well.

I wouldn't even be surprised if the females who watch the show all of a sudden decide they should start posing for the camera, stripping, trying to get breast implants, or trying to either lose weight that they don't need to/purging excess food shortly after eating it as a result of seeing May and Dawn.

Uh-oh, who told Weedle my secret?

I so prefer Misty to Dawn, but since I doubt their gonna bring Misty back, I think they should just keep Dawn. That way they don't have to go make another female character that is just gonna leave like the others. All the female characters they made are all kinda similar too, so they are probably running out of ideas. :/

Hahaha this is why I never disagree with Jorah.

By the way, everyone knows that when a 5th generation comes out, the female character in that game will be the new female in the anime. Also Ash will deposit all of his Pokemon except for Pikachu at Prof Oak's lab and start a new adventure in whatever new region. The End. Yaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. That was easy.

Exactly.

People easily said the same thing with Jynx, and did that really stop Weatherford from basically filing a lawsuit against Pokemon and changing her skin to purple?

Those people aren't the majority of people who watch television. Suprisingly enough.

As long as you don't laugh at her or make derisive and yet hateful comments about Misty, I don't really care if you hate her or not. Now, if you mention your beliefs in a humorless and non-mocking tone, I'll be fine. Also, even I know my limits. However, whether she did have flaws or not, that still doesn't mean we will stop trying to bring her back, since that is what true loyalty is, as well as what being a fan truly means.

Okay. I'll concede that point.

Actually, it isn't really the vocal minority. I've seen most of the clubs actually state that Misty not being on the show is not a good thing. Heck, the mere name of Pokecommunity's Misty Club even implies that the entire club, at least partially, discusses ways to try and bring her back. Besides which, the mere fact that several college studies and research has been done that had Misty being well liked by most kids seemed to imply that it definitely isn't a vocal minority. Now, the vocal minority, IMO, would probably be the ones who actually bash the ones who try and bring Misty back yet are in the same fanbase, seeing how most of these guys are mods.

The vocal minority are the ones that openly state that she should come back and actually argue for it without listening to other's reasons why she shouldn't. Actually, notice how few people outside of Misty clubs argue that she should come back to the show.

See, I often see things by definitions, actions, and equations/mathematics. In that sense, I'm like a machine. And either way, I don't really wish to have to mention my angst for May every single time, but sometimes it always seems as though it is necessary, whether you want it or not.

That reminds me of something ironically.

Good luck, then. Although why are you having a final in January?

What the hell are you trying to say about Western animation?

The ex-director himself stated that the main reason why he replaced Misty was for eye-candy purposes and basically dress the new girls up in bikinis/swimsuits for us straight males lustful eyes. Honestly, even for a person who only watches the show for entertainment purposes, can you EVEN think that's a redeeming aspect of the show?!

I'd rather watch some eye candy with some development and that actually does someting than someone that does nothing.

A stupid comment like that should be a clear indicator.

And we will not shut up, because we see how the show is going wrong,

Anyways, case in point.

Though I'd like to think you don't disagree with me because you're wrong.

If everyone knew why state it again?

I'd apologize for spelling errors but no.

I'm starting to feel like it's actually me against this forum. It probably is.

Likely. I mean, I agree with you that the vocal minority you speak of consists of those who feel the anime is incomplete without Misty (which it really isn't), but just because I believe it isn't, doesn't mean I feel the need to remind everyone of it at every chance I get. If you feel like the forum is against you, my advice to you is to stop giving people points to argue. You seem to want this vocal minority to shut up. They would if they didn't feel threatened by what blatantly appears to be your mockery of them, which just makes people want to respond to you, thus creating this whole "me against the world" mentality.

Should Misty come back? It would be nice. Is it going to "save" the anime? No; it's great as is despite what I've said about Dawn, because Misty has similar flaws - she hardly ever does anything and she feels like a waste of a potentially great character. Is it going to happen? I'm not going to hold my breath, and I won't cry if it doesn't. The anime will move on, I'll still watch it, and if Misty comes back, even for one episode, that's fine. (It'll probably be a minor episode anyway...)

Should Dawn leave? It'd be nice; I've had to put up with her for 160 episodes now and it's rather tiring. But if she stays for whatever amount of time, that's fine. It's not like just because I don't like Dawn, that Misty magically fixes all the problems I find in Dawn's character.

Oh, and by the way, good luck on your finals. Thought I'd end on a positive note.

I didn't say that. But she will bring some fresh, good humor and not boring interactions beetwen characters.

Ah! You mean Contests. It isn't something really necessary. They set it in anime, just because of filling the series up and occasionally promoting new games. The main aim is still GYM battles. Contests should be take off, because it's only filler. And what about Brock? He's only cooking (nothing important in anime). Why don't get rid of him?

Ah! You mean Contests. It isn't something really necessary.

Necessary? No. Entertaining? To me, yes.

They set it in anime, just because of filling the series up and occasionally promoting new games.

No. It is entirely to promote the games. What, do you want Johto to happen again? Or do you want it to be Kanto-length (read: NOT KANTO), and have them do another Orange Islands? There has to be something there for the time period in between the releases between generations. Otherwise, we get crap like the Orange Islands and Johto.

The main aim is still GYM battles. Contests should be take off, because it's only filler.

How are they filler when they not only achieve the goal of one of the main characters, but they give Pokemon the ability to appeal to a female audience? Yes, the point is Gym battles, but Contests are legitimate plot points of the anime. It gives the female character something to do, albeit, in the case of this topic, clearly at the sacrifice of character, which is why this topic has gone from "dawn sux lol" to "omg misty shuld come bak lol".

A character from Kanto is supposed to bring something fresh? Are you serious? They could fix everything you just said with a new character.

Not only contests but anything really. Also, Pokémon Contests aren't filler. Where the hell did you get that from?

What about Brock? I don't care if he leaves forever.

That wasn't a serious comment. I don't care if everyone disagrees with me or not.

For the record, Misty was never my favorite character. Heck, I never even saw any characters as my favorites (since I hate favorites ever since I watched Toy Story). However, that doesn't mean you can't actually see the flaws that occured when she left. Not only was that a very horrible move on the writers part (BTW, as side note, even those who HATED Misty, May, or even both were enraged at that reason, so it definitely wasn't just because of our favorite character not being on the show), but do you know what that would imply to the audience at large? That females can be disposed of if fresh meat to toss around is available, and Guys should act like complete perverts.

hey man, the Japanese culture is different than the western culture... and it seems that the western culture is more prone to censorship than the Japanese. And to be honest, i really dont care how they portray the characters, its not in my agenda to care about stuff like that.

I wouldn't even be surprised if the females who watch the show all of a sudden decide they should start posing for the camera, stripping, trying to get breast implants, or trying to either lose weight that they don't need to/purging excess food shortly after eating it as a result of seeing May and Dawn. Honestly, that is a very serious issue that should be stopped.

Do you really think girls would do this over seeing PKMN? you're statements are ridiculous, to be honest.

it's time to get rid of brock again, not dawn

Actually, it is very much similar. Trust me, if America was more prone to censorship, absolutely none of the porn magazines, dirty shows, or certain talk shows could even exist in this country, never mind easily accessible. I recall that in August of 2007, right before my Mom and I were going to see Transformers by Michael Bay, Dad left the TV on, and I witnessed the most disturbing and just plain-bad-taste-thing on TV. Several ladies were dancing on a rooftop, and they were in their underwear, right? Well, they started to take off their underwear, and while their chests were censored, their other privates weren't. Did I mention that this aired on Summer Vacation around Noontime? That's not even getting into stuff like Jerry Springer and Maury, especially the 4 PM stuff.

Do you really think girls would do this over seeing PKMN? you're statements are ridiculous, to be honest.

Considering how there is a controversy with Barbie apparently contributing greatly to Bulimia/Anorexia and turning girls into bimboes, along with similar controversies with the Disney Princess franchise (Both of which appeal to little girls, BTW), yes, girls will most likely do that after watching May and Dawn. my statements being ridiculous? Maybe, but then again, evidence that's already been circulated suggests that this isn't far from the truth. I'll even post the evidence, seeing how you probably don't believe me.

Barbie's popularity ensures that her effect on the play of children attracts a high degree of scrutiny. The criticisms leveled at her are often based on the assumption that children consider Barbie a role model and will attempt to emulate her.

Barbie's waist has been widened in more recent versions of the dollOne of the most common criticisms of Barbie is that she promotes an unrealistic idea of body image for a young woman, leading to a risk that girls who attempt to emulate her will become anorexic. A standard Barbie doll is 11.5 inches tall, giving a height of 5 feet 9 inches at 1/6 scale. Barbie's vital statistics have been estimated at 36 inches (chest), 18 inches (waist) and 33 inches (hips). According to research by the University Central Hospital in Helsinki, Finland, she would lack the 17 to 22 percent body fat required for a woman to menstruate.[12] In 1963 the outfit "Barbie Baby-Sits" came with a book entitled How to Lose Weight which advised: "Don't eat."[13] The same book was included in another ensemble called "Slumber Party" in 1965 along with a pink bathroom scale reading 110 lbs.[14], which would be around 35 lbs. underweight for a woman 5 feet 9 inches tall. [15] In 1997 Barbie's body mold was redesigned and given a wider waist, with Mattel saying that this would make the doll better suited to contemporary fashion designs.[16][17]
In July 1992 Mattel released Teen Talk Barbie, which spoke a number of phrases including "Will we ever have enough clothes?", "I love shopping!", and "Wanna have a pizza party?" Each doll was programmed to say four out of 270 possible phrases, so that no two dolls were likely to be the same. One of these 270 phrases was "Math class is tough!" (often misquoted as "Math is hard"). Although only about 1.5% of all the dolls sold said the phrase, it led to criticism from the American Association of University Women. In October 1992 Mattel announced that Teen Talk Barbie would no longer say the phrase, and offered a swap to anyone who owned a doll that did.[18]

Oreo Fun Barbie from 1997 became controversial due to a negative interpretation of the doll's name"Colored Francie" made her debut in 1967, and she is sometimes described as the first African American Barbie doll. However, she was produced using the existing head molds for the white Francie doll and lacked African characteristics other than a dark skin. The first African American doll in the Barbie range is usually regarded as Christie, who made her debut in 1968.[19][20] Black Barbie was launched in 1980 but still had white features. In September 2009, Mattel introduced the So In Style range, which was intended to create a more realistic depiction of black people than previous dolls.[21]
In 1997 Mattel joined forces with Nabisco to launch a cross-promotion of Barbie with Oreo cookies. Oreo Fun Barbie was marketed as someone with whom little girls could play after class and share "America's favorite cookie." As had become the custom, Mattel manufactured both a white and a black version. Critics argued that in the African American community Oreo is a derogatory term meaning that the person is "black on the outside and white on the inside," like the chocolate sandwich cookie itself. The doll was unsuccessful and Mattel recalled the unsold stock, making it sought after by collectors.[22]
In May 1997 Mattel introduced Share a Smile Becky, a doll in a pink wheelchair. Kjersti Johnson, a 17-year-old high school student in Tacoma, Washington with cerebral palsy, pointed out that the doll would not fit into the elevator of Barbie's $100 Dream House. Mattel announced that it would redesign the house in the future to accommodate the doll.[23][24]
In March 2000 stories appeared in the media claiming that the hard vinyl used in vintage Barbie dolls could leak toxic chemicals, causing danger to children playing with them. The claim was rejected as false by technical experts. A modern Barbie doll has a body made from ABS plastic, while the head is made from soft PVC.[25][26]
In September 2003 the Middle Eastern country of Saudi Arabia outlawed the sale of Barbie dolls, saying that she did not conform to the ideals of Islam. The Committee for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice stated "Jewish Barbie dolls, with their revealing clothes and shameful postures, accessories and tools are a symbol of decadence to the perverted West. Let us beware of her dangers and be careful."[27] In Middle Eastern countries there is an alternative doll called Fulla which is similar to Barbie but is designed to be more acceptable to an Islamic market. Fulla is not made by the Mattel Corporation, and Barbie is still available in other Middle Eastern countries including Egypt.[28] In Iran, Sara and Dara dolls are available as an alternative to Barbie.[29]

A Barbie with a lower back tattoo was released in 2009.In April 2009, the launch of a "Totally Tattoos" Barbie with a range of tattoos that could be applied to the doll, including a lower back tattoo, led to controversy. Mattel's promotional material read "Customize the fashions and apply the fun temporary tattoos on you too", but Ed Mayo, chief executive of Consumer Focus, argued that children might want to get tattooed themselves.[30]
In December 2005 Dr. Agnes Nairn at the University of Bath in England published research suggesting that girls often go through a stage where they hate their Barbie dolls and subject them to a range of punishments, including decapitation and placing the doll in a microwave oven. Dr. Nairn said: "It's as though disavowing Barbie is a rite of passage and a rejection of their past."[31][32]

And here's the Disney princess controversy:

On December 24, 2006, Peggy Orenstein published, "What's Wrong With Cinderella?" in the New York Times. In her article, Orenstein discussed her concerns about the effects of princess figures on young girls. Orenstein used the Disney Princesses specifically to present many of her points. Orenstein also noted the pervasive nature of Princess merchandise and that every facet of play has its princess equivalent.[4]

Other sources have also voiced concern that the franchise could give young girls the wrong message. However, other parents say that young girls would eventually grow out of this phase.[8]

Well i have complained about ash and brock before... I even suggested a spin-off series XDXD.
But people are already bored of ash and brock (brocks purvy antics still make me laugh tough :\)... dawns the only thing new realy... i was sooo excited to see someone new to the anime... i watched it in japanese... i had no clue what they were saying :(
