I just thought of a theory for why they let Clara "live" at the end of S9... Spoilered only because maybe it's actually right and people don't want to know.

They're totally going to have her come back to the Doctor when he's about to regenerate, just before she's decided to go back to Gallifrey and face her inevitable death at last. So basically they'll have some kind of adventure or at least moment together before they both die. It's tradition now that the first face a Doctor sees is also the last face he sees.

I enjoyed the concept of Smile and actually thought the episode had some really good ideas, not too sure about next week's episode from the preview though, but I just hope it proves me wrong!

I am very excited to see John Simm's Master return. It would be amazing to see him interact with Missy & The 12th Doctor. Wonder if they'd include a pun about 12th being Scottish like 10th was.
