2. Maybe I should buy a second PS2 just in case my current one fails. That one's 9 years old and has been dropped several times. It's amazing it still works at all.

Though I am more interested in buying my dad's share of our Xbox 360 if we get him one with built-in wifi for his birthday.

Ahhh, lucky! My PS2 wasn't nearly that old, and it won't read discs anymore. Maybe it's because it's the slim version though, idk. I liked using the PS2 as the DVD player more than the DVD player that's in the family room itself though, sooo.

5. The slims were pretty weak systems compared to the older fat PS2 systems in terms of durability, shockingly. At least, among the people I know who have/had them.

Though we haven't played ours as much since we started getting games for our Xbox a couple years back.
