And when I entered the Cinnabar Gym (with a girl sprite), Blaine starts talking to me, starting the Gym Leader battle, and when I won, my sprite becomes a boy.

it looks like this problem is NOT fixed in the 3.9 versions of Evo Yellow & Evo Brown ☹️
don't know why the OP/OC (original creator) has not yet resolved this specific problem since version 3.2

so I really cannot continue nor complete/finish the game as a girl player trainer after entering Blaine's Gym in Cinnabar Island and beating Blaine

Any chance we can get a working minimalist version posted somewhere? Would like just the following mon and female trainer option?

the only problem when playing as a female trainer is once you reach and enter Blaine's Gym, the he immediately talks to you & the battle starts and once Blaine is beaten & you leave the gym thru the door, the player character's sprite is somehow reverted back to a boy/male trainer.

The reason why none of the patches have been fixed, is because the project has been ABANDONED.

a follow-up - the only way I "worked around" the problem was to use a gameshark like cheat code to 'mod' a certain ram address that controls the player's character sprite
{turns out to be address DA51; had to load/run a "debugger" in the BGB emulator to confirm this, assuming that v3.9 of the Evo Yellow game is used as the ram address for this will be different for older versions of Evo Yellow}

this is the cheat code I used to change the player character sprite from a boy to a girl {took me a long time to come up with this code - again assuming the latest version of Evo Yellow is used, which is v3.9}:
010151DA

first enter the Cinnabar Island Gym & beat Blaine. then exit/leave the gym (the girl player will turn into a boy after leaving the gym), enter & enable the 010151DA code in the Cheats section of the emulator, save the game, disable the code & reset/reload the game.
{Warning: DO NOT use/enable this code while inside Blaine's Gym or you will be permanently stuck inside & unable to move, which results in a virtual softlock/freeze}
after restarting/reloading the game, it should continue on as a girl player trainer instead of a boy.

edit: I was able to finish & complete the rest of the game as a female player trainer after using this gameshark code
note: I have not tested this code on "real" gb hardware nor do I have the time to try this out on real HW; only tested in certain GB/GBC/GBA emulators on my PC
